A list of puns related to "Pandæmonium (Paradise Lost)"
I wanted to ask, I guess more theorizing in all honesty but I did wanna hear others opinions. Is Azem somewhat aware of our existence in Elpis? Or knows that there's a person going around Elpis claiming to be "Azem's familiar" as a guise? Since when talking to Themis, he said all Azem gave him was a vague hint that a "guiding star" will help him out...proceeding with us crash landing into Themis at Elpis. Do you guys think they know? Or at least know someone's going around using their name but like...doing good things under Azems name?
Servers are up. Use this thread to talk of the raid. Mechanics, design, story, whatever.
So, after doing the first tier, and being a greek mythlogy nerd, I decided to compile a few names of interest, as to discuss their lore implications:
Themis: Titan-goddess of Justice, patron of magistrates and lawyers.
Erichthonios: First mythological king of Athens, son to Athena and Hephaestos. He can also be the fourth king of Athens, raised, but not birthed, by Athena. (Thanks, GinKurisutaru)
Athena: Warrior goddess of War and Wisdom, patron deity of Athens, daughter to Zeus and Methis.
Hippocampos: Mythlogical creature, half horse, half fish. Said to pull the chariot of Poseidon.
Hesperos: The Evening Star, in other words, the planet Venus in the evening.
With that said, I think it's highly probable that Lahabrea's true name is Hephaestos, the Smith God.
What do you think, everyone?
I think that Lahabrea/Hephesteus is using the creatures and research in Pandæmonium to find a way to resurrect Athena, and either something went wrong or it succeeded but not as expected (he meddled with the aetherial sea some way probably) and that’s why all the warders are going crazy.
If you think about it, Phoinix is a creature that was designed to ressurect, and Phoenix Downs are the main resurrection item in the Final Fantasy series as a whole.
The existence of Phoinix, along with Erichthonius’ confusion as to Lahabrea’s motivations, as they seem completely different to his view of his father, are my main points behind this theory. I could be completely off, though, so what do y’all think?

If they follow suite, we are getting the literal seat of hell. The Throne of the Evil area. Possibly a Crystal area with properties similar to Hydaelyns Crystal. Was Zodiarks recovery taking so long because they were actually dumping the energy into an extra entity/source? At the end of Endwalker we see Elidibus peering off the edge of Elpis observing a big ol pit of danger.
Will we see the return of the infamous Pandemonium Warden from FF11? Will he be an end boss in one of the 4-raid portions?
What is everyones thoughts :O
Here's my thought:
If Themis is Elidibus (which I am almost entirely sold on, especially because of his voice in the post-credits of EW as well as his eyes being almost the same if not the same as Elidibus in WoL form) then the WoL (us) is the inspiration for the WoL (form that Elidibus takes in the Seat of Sacrifice).

Shout out to Reflected Simulations for their excellent work on the fun and educational UH-1H Huey campaign Paradise Lost in DCS! I’ve been flying the Huey for a while and just a few missions in and I’ve become a better pilot. Finally feel like I have a grasp on the whole helo and it’s functions. The Marianas map is the perfect size and looks great. The dialog between the pilots and the crew keep it interesting. If you’re looking for a Huey campaign, I highly recommend. Keep up the good work RS!
Dear Chairman Epstein and members of the Documentary Branch of the Academy:
We are Todd Moore and Dana Moore.
Our cherished eight-year-old son, Michael, was brutally murdered on May 5, 1993 by Jessie Misskelley, Damien Echols, and Jason Baldwin. Misskelley was tried and convicted in 1994. Baldwin and Echols were convicted by a separate jury later that year. All three entered Alford pleas to our son’s murder August 19, 2011. They are now, as they have been for the past 17 years, guilty as a matter of law. They have been guilty as a matter of fact since the moment water flooded Michael’s lungs after he was beaten, stripped, hogtied, and then discarded into a stream to drown.
Michael was the joy of our lives. In addition to our son, his murderers also tortured and slaughtered two other children, Christopher Byers and Stevie Branch. These three precious victims were classmates and friends, and their loss was a tragedy felt throughout the entire community.
We are horrified to learn that a documentary that glorifies Michael’s killers, Paradise Lost III: Purgatory, is among 15 documentaries being considered for an Academy Award. Because of public pressure that exploded due to gross misrepresentations of fact in two previous documentaries, Michael’s killers were unjustly able to enter into a plea agreement, were released from prison, and now pose additional threats to society. This third documentary further insulted the families of these three boys and may lead to further injustice. We implore the Academy not to reward our child’s killers and the directors who have profited from one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated under the guise of a “documentary film.”
We realize that documentaries have a point of view and advocate a position to some degree or another. As with the two before it, this film crossed the line into a cruel hoax that had real-life consequences larger than even those of us who still mourn our horrific losses. It is not art. This film is cynical and exploitative deception that compounds our pain needlessly and rewards those who inflicted it. It and the two films that preceded it are simply tasteless tabloid entertainment presented as social commentary.
We are private individuals. The directors, Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger, are aware of this because we refused to participate in their last two films. We appeared solely in the first film because the directors lied and told us their purpose would be to “protect children.”

Ever since its publication, people have been divided over a fundamental question: Is Satan a wronged hero, or a villain who deserves to be in hell? Let's explore a centuries old puzzle👇
2. Famous writer Mary Shelley said Milton's Satan possesses "courage, and majesty, and firm and patient opposition to omnipotent force." Professor Stoll, a 20th century academic, argued we must "give the Devil his due."
3. Satan wants to define his own self and his own morality. His pride often draws comparisons to Homeric heroes such as Achilles and Aeneas. Satan has a grand ambition: "nothing less than the throne of the universe." Is Satan, at worst, a fallen tragic hero?
4. William Blake thought Milton's own loyalty lay with Satan: "The reason Milton wrote in fetters when he Wrote of Angels & God, and at liberty when of Devils and Hell, is because he was a true Poet and of the Devil's party without knowing it."
5. Lord Byron took inspiration from Milton's Satan to create his Byronic Heroes: characters whose pride and defiance makes them capable of daring, even great, acts. John Steedman, a Milton scholar, writes that Satan mirrors the "lion in violence and the fox in cunning."
6. Musgrove, another important Milton scholar, asks a crucial question: In what ***setting "***does Satan appear magnificent?" Answer: in hell. Against a perverted background, Satan's vices look like virtues. In Paradise Lost, when Satan steps out of hell, his true nature is revealed.
7. Milton builds up Satan in the first half of the poem so he may fall harder later. Milton made Satan his protagonist and bestowed on him grandeur and power to show the "titanic proportions of the struggle between good and evil."
8. Out of hell, Satan's first act is to "disguise himself." Over the progression of the poem, Satan goes from telling lies cynically to believing his own lies. Musgrove writes: "Satan is beginning to believe his own propaganda." Satan's soul is reality falsification.
9. As the poem goes on, Satan says he “does not hope to be myself less miserable." Instead, he wants to make others "such as I." He wants to spread his misery. His mask slips and he says: "For only in destroying I find ease."
10. Bottom line. Satan's initial majesty is Milton's narrative trick to set up an epic fall. Finally, even Satan's noble-*seemin

(I know there are threads already but it connected several theories for me personally) So here it goes. There or some crazy references when researching “lost paradise” as pointed out already on channel. But I really love when Shauna says “oh Linda, you dumb bitch”. And then it cuts to Tiassa which made me question the writing as I felt it to be awesome foreshadowing hidden by amazing misdirection with the audience attention.
I’m trying to figure out how to upload images and will give it a try. But in the first part of this episode inside Jackie’s house we see details and objects around her room and video tape labeled “dialogue of the dead” caught my eye! ALSO THERE IS A TEDDY BEAR placed on top of of the tape. AND that teddy bear looks exactly like the one Shauna pulls out in the trailer for Doomscoming! I was confused because we saw Laura Lee’s bear catch on fire but now this makes me believe if there is a connection to Jackie and Adam. It just seems too important to over look.
Teddy bear and Jackie’s room (episode 1)
Also. On the tape there is the date 67’ on it..So naturally, I looked it up and the lost paradise reference. There is a lot of pagan and Greek gods referenced through both.

LUCIAN, DIALOGUES OF DEAD 1 - 20
I also found the following article and I need to read and absorb it some more - but there are crazy similarities to the story. There has to be inspiration pulled from both Lost Paradise and Dialogue of the Dead l writings, Right? 🤷🏻♀️
Milton's Treatment of the Pagan Gods in Paradise Lost, Book I
Lastly, The symbol we keep seeing is probably pagan? I found two of them here and the triangle with a line through it means “In other traditions, the triangle is used to mark the association of degrees or initiation rank -- typically first degree, but not necessarily. In alchemy, this symbol is sometimes shown with the horizontal line extending beyond the sides of the triangle.” There is also the circle with the horns which means “The Horned God” althou

There is one critical divergence between the two narratives that I think would make for a fascinating expansion to the lore if explored properly.
In both narratives, the defeated faction, each now inhabiting a different plane of reality, assembles - the Thousand Sons, exiled from Prospero in realspace to Sortiarius in the Warp, the fallen angels cast down from Heaven in Hell - to lick their wounds and discuss their options. In both narratives, this takes the form of a parody of open debate, with a façade of democratic participation, but in both cases, the factional overlord - Magnus the Red in 40k, Satan in Paradise Lost - are just waiting to play their trump card once all the other options have been aired and rejected so as for the assembly to reach a consensus on the the choice they wanted all along.
In Paradise Lost, one of the rebel angels, the feisty Moloch, urges his compatriots to renew the war on Heaven and take the fight directly to God; they cannot hope to win, but have nothing to lose:
"My sentence is for open Warr...
... let us rather choose
Arm'd with Hell flames and fury all at once
O're Heav'ns high Towrs to force resistless way,
Turning our Tortures into horrid Arms
Against the Torturer; when to meet the noise
Of his Almighty Engin he shall hear
Infernal Thunder, and for Lightning see
Black fire and horror shot with equal rage
Among his Angels; and his Throne it self
Mixt with Tartarean Sulphur, and strange fire,
His own invented Torments...
... we feel
Our power sufficient to disturb his Heav'n,
And with perpetual inrodes to Allarme,
Though inaccessible, his fatal Throne:
Which if not Victory is yet Revenge."
Satan, however, counsels an alternative path, a peripheral strategy, one more subtle, but ultimately more satisfying:
"... what peace can we return,
But to our power hostility and hate,
Untam'd reluctance, and revenge though slow,
Yet ever plotting how the Conqueror least
May reap his conquest, and may least rejoyce
In doing what we most in suffering feel?
Nor will occasion want, nor shall we need
With dangerous expedition to invade
Heav'n, whose high walls fear no assault or Siege,
Or ambush from the Deep. What if we find
Some easier enterprize?
... Though Heav'n be shut,
An

Summary: "It begins after Satan and the other rebel angels have been defeated and banished to Hell. In Pandæmonium, the capital city of Hell, Satan employs his rhetorical skill to organize his followers; he is aided by Mammon and Beelzebub. Belial and Moloch are also present. At the end of the debate, Satan volunteers to corrupt the newly created Earth and God's new and most favored creation, Mankind. He braves the dangers of the Abyss alone in a manner reminiscent of Odysseus or Aeneas. After an arduous traversal of the Chaos outside Hell, he enters God's new material World, and later the Garden of Eden.
At several points in the poem, an Angelic War over Heaven is recounted from different perspectives. Satan's rebellion follows the epic convention of large-scale warfare. The battles between the faithful angels and Satan's forces take place over three days. At the final battle, the Son of God single-handedly defeats the entire legion of angelic rebels and banishes them from Heaven. Following this purge, God creates the World, culminating in his creation of Adam and Eve. While God gave Adam and Eve total freedom and power to rule over all creation, he gave them one explicit command: not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil on penalty of death.
Adam and Eve are presented as having a romantic and sexual relationship while still being without sin. They have passions and distinct personalities. Satan, disguised in the form of a serpent, successfully tempts Eve to eat from the Tree by preying on her vanity and tricking her with rhetoric. Adam, learning that Eve has sinned, knowingly commits the same sin. He declares to Eve that since she was made from his flesh, they are bound to one another - if she dies, he must also die. In this manner, Milton portrays Adam as a heroic figure, but also as a greater sinner than Eve, as he is aware that what he is doing is wrong.
After eating the fruit, Adam and Eve have lustful sex. At first, Adam is convinced that Eve was right in thinking that eating the fruit would be beneficial. However, they soon fall asleep and have terrible nightmares, and after they awake, they experience guilt and shame for the first time. Realizing that they have committed a terrible act against

I've read Moby Dick, and its always thrown out as central the BM, but I've just been reading Paradise Lost and the aesthetic debt is profound. Not just in sound, but the way McCarthy weaves clauses together-- almost like a juggling act. Personally this seems like the final capstone to understanding BM. Thoughts?
I was just rewatching the first season 2 teaser for star trek Picard and I noticed that they showed a copy of the book paradise lost. What do you all think that could imply?
I thought that maybe they want to make some parallels between the books characters and the show's characters, were Satan at the beginning of the book wishes he could go back to what he had lost. Maybe Picard will regret becoming an android and wishes he could go back to being human.
What are your thoughts on this?
"Huh?! What?"
Tarsius nearly fell over as his datapad's notification alarm ripped him awake from his afternoon nap, his chair spinning violently before his legs found the ground. Ir had been weeks... months? Since the Exarch had received any sort of assignment, let alone a notification with such high importance. He wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, yawning as he read the message.
Exarch Command:
Priority Level: 1
[ISB Commander Lystansis, Sr. Officer]
Captain Arkis Bryk of the 23rd Reserve Fleet has not checked in to the Mid-Rim systems. According to the Naval Command database, his ship- VSD Salamis, is currently docked over a planet within your system of patrol, Antummel III. Reports show his shore leave ended 2 rotations ago, but has not left the system nor responded to comms. Investigate this anomaly at once and report back by the end of this rotation.
Due to the classified nature of Byrk's assignment, all other details remain need-to-know. Failure to comply may result in a court-martial.
//END TRANSMISSION//
Tarsius sighed- classic. Another mission that kept him in the dark, doomed to forever be a lackey that knew nothing. The assignment was straightforward, at least. If the Captain was there, great. If not, he'd report it and some other ISB spook could come check it out- he got paid either way.
"Well, might as well get going, I guess."
Tarsius frowned as he waited on the bridge in his black uniform- if he was going to be confronting a tarty Captain, the least he could do was put on the facade of a true Imperial officer. He adjusted the hat as the Exarch blasted out of hyperspace in front of Antummel III. The planet looked almost blindingly white as the sun reflected off of the bright sands below, occasionally marred by large industrial cities and manufacturing plants.
Swear to gods if he makes me go down to that glorified oven...
"Sir, we've located the transmission point of the Salamis- but there's no ship there."
Tarsius looked at the young flight lieutenant with surprise. A VSD was a big ship- and big ships always appear on scopes if you're looking for one.
"What?"
He walked over, looking over the shoulder of the Lieutenant and at the screen. Indeed, COMSCAN was picking up the Salamis' signature directly ahead of them- yet nothing was there.
Not dealing with this. Not today.
He smacked the screen several times, hoping the problem would rectify itself in some

Information that I could find online says that ultimately "the band released" a music video compiling live videos recorded by fans during their Evanescence tour. Here is that video: https://youtu.be/zkgGgUkR3mM
Now, watching EV videos on YT I ran into this Music Video version of Lost In Paradise, and I gotta be honest this video looks official, if it is a fan-made, kudos to you, where did they get those shots of the band from?; I can't find anything about it, official, fan-made (?). All places that uploaded this video are calling this version official but of course no EV official site has track of this video; something about it too, the YT video description says the copyright belongs to Wind-Up Records? Ain't they dead? lol
Anyone here knows the story behind the later LIP Music Video?
