A list of puns related to "Opus (audio format)"
Since both the WebM and OGG are containers, I want the Opus from a YouTube video in OGG format (extension) instead of WebM which happens by default. Also there shouldn't be any transcoding happen while getting it in OGG format.
This is what we get with WebM file extension (took from Media Info). I want the same in OGG file extension with the same audio quality without transcoding.

Would I need a computer to change the audio of a webm to vorbis?
puffer.stanford.edu/player no longer runs in Safari, I get the error msg as shown in the title. Worked fine in Mojave.

I want to extract best OPUS based audio from Youtube. For that i'm using:
--no-check-certificate --prefer-insecure --audio-format opus --extract-audio --postprocessor-args "-acodec libopus -b:a 64K" --external-downloader aria2c --external-downloader-args "-x16 -s16 -k1M"
It does work sometimes when you have m4a container as "best" audio stream, does work if you manually specify -format 251 which is overkill. It doesn't work with for m4a_dash container as best possible audio stream. I'm assuming because there is no way to demux opus from m4a_dash. Reported as bug due to switch --audio-format opus which will force youtubedl to get opus stream(best/worst???)
ENVIRONMENTS: Windows 7 x64, ffmpeg version N-71192-g3c91239, youtube-dl.exe 2020.01.01
OBSERVED RESULT: will not getting opus stream even
... keep reading on reddit β‘Opus 1.2 is a free and very high-quality audio codec that reaches transparency (can't tell difference between original lossless source and compressed audio) at 64 kbps, which is an extremely low amount of data per second. This for music. For audio, it is transparent as low as 16 kbps per second.
This means that very clear and high quality audio sound can be achieved and allow to save a lot of space so that much more content could be included - either audio or other typology.
What do you think about it?
In the software that i am trying to build, i get a saved .opus file from another code part (lib code), and my task is to check some conditions and, if true, forward this file to another part of the codebase (lib code too), but this second function only accepts mp3 or wav files, since it will play. I cannot modify the lib code, only construct the bridge between the two.
My question is how can i convert this .opus file to a .mp3 or .wav on device?
For the past few days, i tried to use the C opus API to decode the file, but i was unable to understand enough to use it.
The way i receive the file is by a NSURL to it.
The code needs to be in Objective-C, not Swift.
Thanks for the help!
I know Mp3 is usually converted from M4a, Opus or Webm but Mp3 always shows to have a higher Bitrate compared to M4a so I need to know does M4a or Mp3 sound better
I was wondering if a lower audio bit rate is equal to lower quality.
I just redownloaded Hunter x Hunter from Vodes, which is the highest available quality according to Seadex, but when I look at the mediainfo it appears the audio bit rate is lower from the one I already have (iAHD). Vodes is 661 kb/s FLAC while iAHD is 2.304 kb/s PCM. Is this because of the PCM to FLAC conversion or is this something the encoder choses to ... I don't know, save space?
Also is this noticable when watching?
I've been using Linux for about 6 years now, and there's one question that I've always had and haven't found any good answers.
What file formats for audio and video are free software?
I don't really know if this is the right subreddit to ask this, but I think someone here ought to know the answer
I was wondering since CD is such an old-format if digital formats have superseded CD-quality. Often CD-quality is still mentioned as a benchmark for quality.
I'd like to start this off by saying I'm not offended or shocked in any way by it. Especially as it could be down to me choosing Wild Bill to watch tonight after the pub (never seen it before but the trailer has some dialects and sayings)
Mostly I just find it amusing that that somebody at Netflix made the decision to classify it as a form of English that may not be understood if it's a different English to yours
I've used the audio format Ogg Vorbis many times. Only today I found out it is named after one of the characters in PRatchett's book "Small Gods".
And to my dismay, the "Ogg" part is NOT derived from our beloved Nanny.
How could I have missed this?
The relevant option is dimmed out. I tried to install additional drivers from Creative and from Windows Update. None of them allows to set 24bit sound format. I tried to do this on two computers, one with Windows 10, the other Win 11.

I have a bunch of recorded videos I wanna use some of the audio from. Theyβre in mp4 format and on average an hour long. Is there a good way to extract audio from the files while keeping the quality? The only method I am currently aware of is first converting the video into an audio format then using a tool to slice up the audio, but I feel thereβs got to be a more practical way of doing this? Any methods/tools that are less time-consuming?
I've been searching around for some gems on Audible, and was wondering which novels you think are better in audio form than their physical counterparts.
For example, I've just finished Moby Dick on Audible and it was incredible, the narrator brought so much energy to the performance and really elevated the text.
Have you had any similar experiences? I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Happy listening!
Hello everyone.
I've just done an audio NFT project and I'm going to decide to mint the tracks in mp4 with an image in order that it can then be sold on secondary markets more easily etc.
I'm asking around here in case anyone is able to convince me to mint mp3 or wav files instead of in video format.
So far the platform I have seen that offers audio mining with some quality is catalog, but it runs on ethereum and I am not willing to mine there due to ecology issues and expensive fees. I could wait for ethereum optimization but I want to release the project as soon as possible and solana is a network I love.
There is a very young market based on solana, it is called nina market but it is too new and to publish you need to earn special tokens to exchange it to sell....
That's why I think that at this moment, the best is to mine mp4 files with audio.
What do you think about?

I was listening to Mitchell Schwartz on the Athletic Football Show and kept thinking to myself, I really like what this guy is saying content-wise, but his voice is monotone to the point where it's unlistenable.
Another guy that comes to mind is Tjarks for the NBA. I think he's a really good writer and smart analyst, but the voice is brutal.
By contrast, there are countless examples of great podcast voices like Russillo, Vernon, Big Cat on PMT, Chris Ryan the God, etc.
Wasn't convinced it was very good at all when I read the print originally, certainly the weakest of the series for me.
Now I'm not sure if its simply because I know the story but in Audio format it's so much better than I remember. Genuinely excellent story, and the shell world concept works so much better second time around.
As much as I was not happy Peter Kenny wasn't reading, Toby Longworth is just as excellent a performer.
My learning hurdle is understanding the difference between Masters, Digital Masters, CD, Lossless, High res lossless, and MQA.
I watched a ton of YouTube videos and could not understanding the fundamental sequence of which is better than the other. Hence, I seek an ELI5 for the order of their quality.
Baseline assumption is I have all the hardware support needed.
My goal here is to understand the basics so that I can start my Audiophile journey and build my own audiophile rig.
Thank you!
So, basically I have my music folder now, which contains 80% FLACs, 10% MP3s, and 10% AAC M4As. The folder structure is %artist%/%album%/%title%.
I'd like to create a COPY of this library for use on my phone. Basically, whenever there is a FLAC it should be converted to Opus, but the MP3s and AAC M4As should of course not be re-encoded to Opus but just copied. The folder structure should also stay intact.
What's the best way (program) to do this? I was considering using fre:ac to convert from FLAC to Opus by using the "add files by pattern" function (with pattern = *.flac). I haven't used this program before so not sure if it will work. It also still leaves the question how to copy the MP3s/M4As with their respective folder structures to the new folder?
edit: Thank you for all suggestions. In the end I used a combination of fre:ac and xcopy.

β(Sigh) Come on! Where is my phone charger? You would think being roommates with this guy for so long, he would remember to return it to you. His room is not a mess Iβll give him that but I havenβt seen it since he borrowed it. Where is he anyways? β(Groan) way to go me. You had to make unnecessary mess in his room. Well, time to pick his stuff before he accuses me of taking his stuff when he has bigger problems to deal with.β She said as she picks up some of his things that fell down along with the drawer. It was mostly extra cable, box of soap, and junk but not everything in that drawer contains junk as sheβs about to find out.
βWait... what is this... Is... Is this what I think it is?β She slowly picked up what looks like a small velvet box for a... no way.
βPlease be empty, please be empty, please be empty.β She repeated herself as if itβs a mantra as she slowly opens the small velvet box and inside it...

When I use the FiOS Mobile TV app on my Amazon Fire Stick I only get L-R audio which my other surround amp detects as pro-logic. Hey guys, I'm recording an audiobook of a daily devotional with a page for every day of the year. Each day is about 2 minutes as an individual file. The TOC in the book just lists out the months, so those could be considered the "chapters," but I'm wondering if for the ACX I should separate it into individual days? Each month in total will end up around an hour, so not beyond the 2-hour file limit. I guess my gut is saying individual days is probably better for the listener, but could also make the book a lot longer (and a shitload more work for me) so I figured I'd just ask reddit and see what you guys think. The author doesn't care one way or the other.
TIA!
