Marshall held a press conference on Sept 15 giving clear indications that the state definitely would not reopen even days after 80% overall vax rates reached as they needed equity across all LGA’s to protect the vulnerable. Yet now they are set in stone opening on the 23rd even though new stats show we won’t even reach 80% overall until a week later?!
Why can we not just open all restrictions within our Covid free state throughout this holiday period and delay “letting Covid in” until the new year, giving vax rates time to rise while also rewarding all the hard work SA residents and businesses have done by having a free holiday period with dancing and parties.
I have lots of family in the eastern states, but would much rather wait a couple more months until it’s safer to see them here.
It’s shocking to me that they’re not even waiting until 80% overall, let alone until there is equity across LGA’s like he so vehemently pushed in Sept.
