A list of puns related to "Ooh La La (Goldfrapp song)"
This song was released around the same time as Ooh La La, which I've linked here in case you don't know it. But I feel like you'd know this song if you knew the one I'm looking for. Ooh La La was much more popular and in the same genre.
The name of the band and/or the song has something to do with Loup. The video for the song is a bunch of people dancing around in the woods. Loup, by the way, is French for wolf. Not sure why that would help, but there it is.
More about the song: it's pretty much classic mid-2000s electronic indie pop. It would be at home with Ladytron, The Faint, etc. The band is not popular, at least not in the US.
And just to cut the jokes off before they hit, I'm not looking for Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum.
Ooh La Hot Love
Song of the Week #76
Album: Edgy in Brixton
Happy Fratellis Friday! I'm switching it up today as this technically isn't a Fratellis song but I really love how they put these songs together! This is a mix of mostly Goldfrapp Ooh La La, T Rex Hot Love and I saw online someone mentioned T Rex Children of the Revolution in there as well. All songs I like but put together honestly it becomes a song I really love. I think Jon has an ear for putting things like this together - I know not everyone agrees with me but even little things like tossing in the Please Mr Postman into Lupe Brown or Coming Round the Mountain in Advaita Shuffle I think is a cute little nod to these melodies that just really work together.
(as always, feel free to post your suggestions for future songs of the week below - thanks to random.org for this weekβs suggestion!)
Lyrics:
>Dial up my number now
Weaving it through the wire
>
>Switch me on
Turn me up
Don't want it Baudelaire
Just glitter lust
Switch me on
Turn me up
Just want to touch the edges
Made for love
>
>I need la la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
La la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
La la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
La la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
>
>Switch me on
Turn me up
Just want to touch the edges
Made for love

>I need la la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
La la la la la la
Ooh la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

My first structured training plan in a few decades + great race conditions + confidence-boosting super shoes = satisfying experience and outcome. Sustained a much higher than expected HR throughout the race and still posted a solid negative split.
I started running in my early 20s to push my (asthmatic) limits and escape some late adolescent angst/anxiety. Longer distances appealed for the particular mental+physical challenge. I ran one marathon (NYCM 3:39:xx) following a pretty light plan (2Q-style peaking at about 45m per week). I had so much fun at the race (I was born in NYC, my whole family turned out, and the race itself is magical) and came in well under my goal time. I kept running afterwards, but swore off structured training. I loved running because it took me out of my head and away from projects to which I applied more rigid discipline. I gave up wearing a watch and never made a schedule. I ran far or fast when I felt like it. I took days off when I didn't. Running helped me stay balanced.
Fast forward a few decades, two little kids, and a pandemic. Layers of stress and uncertainty in the past two years have upended whatever balance I had. Father's Day 2021 finds me splurging on a Garmin forerunner as a gift to myself. I told my sympathetic (and skeptical) partner that I craved the structure of training and a tangible, physical challenge. I told myself that running towards a goal might feel more fulfilling than the alternatives (work or self-medication). From a casual base of about 15mpw (all easy, aerobic running), I started building up my miles. I joined and lurked on this sub. I got copies of Higdon, Daniels, and Pfitzinger out of the library. I started a shoe rotation (Altra Torin 5s for recovery/

One decent Federation Councilor sees the ocean start to pull away from the beach and some Baleel go shopping!
Aren't the Baleel just the nicest people?
Authors Note: For those new to the series the "Ooh La La" is referring to a certain ancient Terran song that has crept into the Baleean consciousness and it turns out that Terran music delivered by neural link, a widespread enhancement in the Baleel, has an... um... an effect on their minds.

βSo how are you settling in?β Jessica Morgan asked a withered old manβs face on one of her archaic flat panel βOLEDβ screens (holograms gave her headaches).
βQuite well!β the man replied with a smile. βThe Baleel have been excellent hosts.β
βGood to hear,β Jessica said, βWhere do they have you stashed?β
βBelieve it or not,β the man chuckled, βan abandoned salt mine, just like the ones on Old Earth.β
βA salt mine?β
βIt turns out they need the stuff as much as we do,β the old man replied with a shrug. βYou should see about importing some. This is really good salt. Itβs damn near a dietary supplement.β
βHow do they mine it without melting?β
βThey have a much lower surface area than the slugs we are used to,β the old man replied, βAnd their mucus is muchβ¦ better? They just used some protective clothing and something they call βsauceβ back in the old days. Now they use a spray on polymer and respirators as PPE and use robotic mining equipment. They are actually still mining this deposit but they have us in an area that is no longer active. This place is huge! When she says she can shelter as many people as we want to send, she isnβt joking. You could fit thousands of us in just this one mine alone.β
βInteresting.β Jessica said as she sipped her cup of tea. βAny progress on the contracts?β
βAlready done,β the old man replied. βKarashel already had those ready for us when we arrived. She just wanted us to look over themβ¦ Jesus, Jessicaβ¦ This thing isβ¦ Fuck...β
βLet me guess,β Jessica smirked, βItβs inhuman, like something from the depths of Hell itself?β
βYeah,β the old man replied, βShe didnβt need us for the contract. She just wants us for βphase twoβ, whatever that is.β
βDid she give any hints? I donβt like being kept in the dark.β
βAll I know is that we need to prepare
