A list of puns related to "One Night Stand (2008)"
I know the game is years old, but it still boggles my mind that ONS 2008 was missing. It was one of my favourite arenas from that year and could've had potential for 360 and PS3, for example, they could've had the road sign display the abbreviated names of superstars in the match (examples: Kennedy, Orton, Jericho).
If it was an issue with the One Night Stand name, surely they could've called it Extreme Rules. If I'm remembering correctly, the Extreme Rules logo was very prominent at the One Night Stand pay-per-view.
During the match whenever Batista looked like he had Shawn beat, Jericho would come out and try to cheer on Shawn. And all it would do wasn't make Batista inflict more punishment on him.
The first time he comes out was after Batista lays him out with a Batista Bomb. All this does is just make Batista hit him with another one.
The second time is when Batista all but has the match won as he's dragging a damn near lifeless HBK on the stretchers over the line, and Jericho come and out again only to stop Batista but more so cheer Shawn on again. This only pisses Dave off, who the new proceeds to grab the steel steps and proceed to spinebuster HBK on them, incapacitating him and winning the match.
When I was younger and watched this live I thought Jericho's role in this match was so awkward and weird as he didn't deliberately interfere. Now I realize that this match took place a week before the infamous heel turn when Jericho through Shawn through the Jeri-tron. Jericho is passive-aggressively goading Batista into hurting Shawn a lot more than he needs too. I don't know if I'm reading too much into this or just late to the party. But this is pretty masterful storytelling and a great and rare example of foreshadowing in wrestling
Backstory
Backstory for this one is fairly simple. Kane was the ECW champion after defeating Chavo Guerrero at Wrestlemania XXIV in eight seconds. Chavo lost his singles rematch so a new #1 contender needed to be found. With a strong field, a five man singapore cane match was set up for One Night Stand. This match featured the three previous ECW champions, Chavo, CM Punk and John Morrison. It also featured Big Show, who won the title two years prior and hardcore legend Tommy Dreamer. With five hungry competitors, Kane was going to have his work cut out for him with whoever won this match.
Why did I choose this match?
First of all this match featured two of my favorite superstars of all time, CM Punk and John Morrison. Punk and Morrison have had some incredible singles matches in their career but the real reason I chose this match was somethnig diferent. Chaos. Pure chaos. This match may only be about nine minutes long but it is wall to wall action for all nine of those minutes. This match really shows what Big Show does best and that's be an absolute wrecking ball. Despite five men in the match and a couple run ins, the match never feels all that cluttered. Big Show also gets busted open the hard way, leading to one badass looking crimson mask. This match realy symbolized what I enjoyed about the new age ECW. It wasn't what old ECW was and it probably shouldn't have been named that, but it was super fun. It had a great and talented roster that was constantly building a new main event scene. I think if it wasn't named ECW it would have a much more positive reputation.

After months of extending the feud to annoying lengths, Undertaker and Edge finally met in what was thought to be the final match in their struggle for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Not only would it be a tables, ladders, and chairs match, but Undertaker's career would be put on the line. In a ranking of TLC matches, this is low on the list. Spots are telegraphed minutes beforehand and overall it is just very slow and predictable. Edge would come out on top after sending Undertaker falling off a ladder crashing through tables, and we never saw the Deadman again.
Triple H and Randy Orton's best match is arguably the last man standing match at No Mercy 2007, so an attempt to recreate the magic was made here with another last man standing match for the WWE Championship. Unfortunately, this match ends abruptly. Triple H counters an RKO and sends Orton to the outside, and Orton lands awkwardly and can be seen telling the referee he broke his collarbone. Orton would be sidelined for the remainder of the summer with the injury.
Batista promised Shawn Michaels he would get revenge for Shawn faking his knee injury at Backlash, and the two met here in a stretcher match. Batista beats the hell out of Michaels, and though Chris Jericho appears in an attempt to give Shawn a pep talk, Batista would ultimately win the match and become the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship.
This show featured, to my knowledge, the first ever "I Quit" match between two female competitors, Beth Phoenix and Melina. Melina had turned face over the previous weeks after having a long-time alliance with Phoenix, but Phoenix would prove herself to be too dominant for the smaller Melina to handle in a match such as this. With the recent surge in women's wrestling, I find Beth Phoenix to be before her time. I wish she had the opportunity to come up during this time rather than in the era she wrestled in. She was, to me, the best women's wrestler since Trish Stratus and until Charlotte.
In a show of firsts there was also a show of lasts, as John Cena and JBL faced off in the WWE's last (to date, and likely ever) first blood match. WWE would officially be PG only a few weeks after this show, and this match shows it as JBL loses due to internal bleeding from the mouth rather than getting busted open.
... keep reading on reddit β‘I just re-watched this match on the Network as I haven't seen the match for since I rented the One Night Stand DVD and I remembered it being quite a decent match and One Night Stand being a great show overall. The show was great but this is probably my second favorite match on the whole card (second only to Undertaker vs. Edge) and I thought the storytelling in the match was superb.
The story behind the match was Batista was frustrated at Shawn for ending Ric Flairs career at WrestleMania XXIV and so he challenged him to a match on RAW so Batista could take out his frustrations on Shawn. The match was quite a solid outing from both guys but the finish was meant to be the most memorable part where Shawn would revers out of a Batista Bomb by leaping off of Batista's shoulders and all faked a leg injury which suckered Batista in, only for Shawn to blast Batista with a Sweet Chin Music and pick up the win.
Following their match on RAW and the controversial finish, Batista was irate and demanded a match at One Night Stand where the two would face off in a Stretcher match. The Stretcher match was fantastic (as mentioned earlier) but it also planted the seeds for the Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho feud which is one of my favorite feuds of all time and took up quite a lot of 2008 (it deserved it really).
Just thought I'd make a quick post about this match and see if anyone remembered it at all. If not, then it's worth giving it a go. The whole show is great though if you're looking to kill some time. Matches include:
Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga in a Falls Count Anywhere match
Big Show vs. John Morrison vs. CM Punk vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero in a Singapore Cane match
John Cena vs. JBL in a First Blood match
Beth Phoenix vs. Melina in an I Quit match
Batista vs. Shawn Michaels in a Stretcher match
Triple H vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match
Edge vs. Undertaker in a TLC match
I feel a bit disconnected from most guys I know. They all talk about getting sex so easily with several girls. I am male virgin. Maybe it's just my way of preserving my male ego for not actually getting a girl myself, but I don't even like the idea of hookups.i would like it if I just had one girl for all time. I am not a very confident person in real life so maybe it's because of that as well, not sure. Are there others who feel this way? Or am I alone?
He was so sweet. Treated me right, fucked me good, cuddled me to sleep, took care of me in the morning. This was my first time hooking up with a stranger and I can't believe it went so well. I'm not planning to make a habit of this but after a string of relationships with negligent partners and dead bedrooms, I feel like this is something I needed.
I have the guy added on Facebook so if I ever want a booty call, I have somewhere to go now. Something to help keep me sane while I focus on myself and wait until a bit later in life to look for the next boyfriend.

Preface: As of lately, I haven't been watching as much pickup content or actively learning that much. I feel like I have a decent grasp of all the concepts, ideas, and theories. It's really just execution that I need to work out. What I really want to do better is to be less auto-pilot when I'm running game. For example, when I talk to girls now, I'm comfortable and I just do me. I don't actively analyze the next steps to take. I just do whatever and it's not good because I'm not taking actions with a purpose. Some people would say that you shouldn't think or analyze too much while you're in a set that's going well. Well I feel like, you need to start thinking about how you're gonna pull, how you're gonna test compliance, screen logistics, etc.
For this FR, I went to a nightclub with no night swim. It's a regular night club. I talked to a few girls but they werent really notable and I can't really remember anyways. I'll just talk about the ONS.
Sets:
I went to a table of 3 guys and made friends with one of the guys. We chatted and I basically said "yall need some girls here, you cool if I bring some girls?". He said yes so I went hunting. I found these two white girls, opened them, talked a little. Let's call these girls Amanda and Jessica. Within 3 minutes, I invited them to the table. They got to the table and I started introducing everybody. One of the guys started talking to Jessica. The other two guys were like super shy or something and wasn't really talking to Amanda so I talked to her.
I really can't remember what we were talking about. I can't remember if I did alot of push pull, teasing, or whatever. After talking for a bit I took her hand and we were dancing and then making out. Thinking about it now, my game mechanics (push pull, teasing, escalation) were probably pretty shit. I don't think I followed any of the textbook rules, I was just doing me. Or I'm so comfortable now that I just do it correctly without even thinking about it? But whatever, it worked, we were dancing and making out.
So after that, I'm thinking ok it's time to pull. I told her let's go outside and get drinks else where. She agreed. We left the club and I was leading her to the parking garage. This is where she's said she can't leave the casino because her friend's still at the club. I said okay, let's just grab a drink at a bar outside of the club. We did that.

Big Show vs CM Punk vs Chavo Guerrero vs John Morrison vs Tommy Dreamer - Singapore Cane Match - One Night Stand 2008
This match is one of my all time favorites. It's just pure fun. Big Show gets ganged up on by the rest of the match at first but he fights them off and goes after an interfering Miz. Show takes a nasty cut off the steel steps and it makes him look even more badass. This match even has former San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merrriman get involved. Show manages to get back into the match and basically kills everyone. Incredibly fun match on a very underrated show as a whole.
