A list of puns related to "Numerical analysis"
Theirs a course at my school that Iβm really interested in but not sure if whatβs taught is relevant in data science (a field id like to get into after graduating). I have a heavy math background (originally math major switched comp sci). Was curious to see if I could get some opinions on the syllabus and if anyone can tell their experiences using numerical analysis techniques within the field of data science

I took an iq test around a year ago at a psychiatric facility, and after taking my test, they only gave me a very vague description of my abilities, or a lack thereof.
I havenβt been at the facility for quite some time, and was actually discharged shortly after the test.
Do you think theyβd still have my test results on record? If so, I want to call and ask if they could send me a copy of my results in detail. Are they legally obligated to do so when/if the subject inquires?
Also, they told me that I was βaverageβ, but they didnβt expound upon that any further besides saying I was behind the curve in my mathematical/spatial abilities, and that I was a βgood readerβ.
The fact that they withheld my numerical score has prompted me to think they may be hiding it for my own good, perhaps because the score is reflective of diminished intellectual functioning.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.
Need someone who is actually good at numerical analysis. Preferably someone really strong in math or engineering. I will test you. Willing to pay a good money for your help.
Has anyone had Michael Neilan for the class or any other class? If so how is he?
Any advice on a good text book on numerical analysis? I have been reading more algebraic/number theory stuff lately and kind of want to dip my toes into a new subject. Thanks!
This system of linear differential equations is an IVP problem. For this problem, fi/Vi = 0.001, for all values of i, and only f(t) was given an initial value, where f(0) = 0.125. In all the examples I've shown to us, what usually is given is an initial value for one of the x and x'. Now that only f(t) has an initial value, I am lost on how to solve it. How do I go solving this?
Happiness is the fundamental goal of every human on Earth, and every action you take has the ultimate objective of making you happy. During 2020, I was wondering if pornography and masturbation were having any kind of effect on my overall happiness, and started a project to find out:
Using the app Daylio, I recorded my mood on a scale from 0-4 and the activities I did during that period of time. Initially, I recorded it once a day, but after some time I realized thrice a day helped to give a better picture of what was happening, and I have 435 registers. So here is the data:
My overall mood was ~2.8/4, with translates to 70%, for an easier visualization. On the days with porn, that dropped to ~2.34/4(58%), while the porn free days had ~2.97/4(74%). This means watching porn decreases my overall happiness by 28%, with is HUGE. For masturbation, the data was actually pretty similar: ~2.99/4(75%) for no fap, ~2.41(61%) for dap days, meaning masturbation lowers my mood by 23%
Now, a few disclaimers: The first and more important is: Correlation does not imply causation, and bad days may interfere on masturbating and relapsing, so take this with a grain of salt. Also, it may be hard to isolate a single variable of the mood when so much is going on.
TL;DR: Watching porn drops my mood 28%, and masturbating drops it 23%
As the title indicates, I will applying to graduate programs this fall. I hope to study applied math; particularly, partial differential equations and their numerical solutions. I can more details on the type of graduate coursework and research I'd like to do, but are there any suggestions for FEM vs Optimization when it comes to numerical PDE?
(FEM seems like to obvious choice, explicitly dealing with numerical PDE, but Optimization might provide a stronger analysis background.)
Iβm an undergraduate applied math major and have recently been assigned to take on a project related to numerical analysis and scientific computing. We can choose the topic ourselves, but I was wondering if there are any cool project ideas out there?? Or any links to good project ideas? Thanks!!

I have a numerical analysis exam tomorrow. If anyone is qualified to take it for me please reach out to me and we can talk.

Hi,
I'm a high school studying for an entrance exam for my prospective university. In order to pass that I will need to know and use elementary numerical methods encoded in the Python language.
Although I know Python and Calculus, I don't know any resources online for numerical methods as this is completely new to me. So could anyone please help me out on this issue?
The things I need to know are:
I have a masters degree in mathematics so fundamentals aren't an issue. I had very limited exposure in undergrad and none in grad. My masters program was all in pure mathematics but am working in a position that is starting to require more in depth understanding of numerical analysis. Any advice is appreciated!
Hello, Has anybody had experience using Numerical Methods/Analysis in an industry setting? What type of bioengineer uses such math? (Job title: Bio-Systems Engineer, Bio-Process Engineer, Software, Controls, etc...) What type of product/service would that company provide?
I am starting my career and I'm disappointed in the lack of math used by some of the engineering companies I have interviewed with. I would like to make a 5 year plan to get to a job position that requires more computation/simulation/math. Thanks!
Is there group work? If so, how large?
Xue, Tao is teaching this semester. He has good rating on SIRS for CS510 (grad version of CS323) but I'm not sure how his class is run.
In general, how is it?
I have an problem with solving this . (x^2)-a=0. Let a>0 and p0=2. show that the sequence pn generated by newtons method converges to (root a) quadratically. Cannot solve this problem so can someone solve this one please.
Hi everyone!
I have always been wanting know more about these three topics. And since it is COVID, I figured why not to better use my time to start learning again.
The only math courses that I have took during my undegrad were up to Calc 3, and Intro to Linear Algebra.
I am open to either self-learn or pay for courses. Any advices and recommendations would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Pretty much what it says on the tin, has anyone taken Numerical Analysis (MATH 411) and have any thoughts? Iβm a little fuzzy on what the class is actually about because the description is a little vague, but thatβs just how higher level math classes are anyway. Any insight on professors would be cool too, but of course I donβt get much say in that.
