A list of puns related to "Ntu"
Everyone is talking about how common having sex is among people staying in hall (whether youβre in NUS or NTU) but is that overly exaggerated? Or am I staying in a βdifferentβ hall?
My hall is quite quiet. I never seen/heard about ANYONE who had sex here. I know overseas people would have wild party nights with alcohol and drugs and hookup but in Singapore we donβt have such wild parties at all!
Donβt know about any of you, I guarantee I never had sex, and nobody had sex while in hall. Itβs not the mass orgy as people claim hall life to be.
Did you/anyone you personally know have βinterestingβ lives in hall? I really want to know!
Hey guys, im a year 2 SP student with pretty good gpa & decent CCA records, so i probably can choose between either (NTU/NUS). Planning to take electrical and electronics engineering related.
So I'm just curious, from what yall heard and know, which do you think is better. I live very close to NTU (near pioneer mall), and since the ranking are almost the same for both, i really want to go NTU, but parents(mom) kinda want me to go NUS coz its better reputation/ more prestige or smt.
It will be great if yall could give your honest opinion. Thank you :D
Edit1: Thanks so much for all the responses. Its very heartwarming to see so many people who are trying to help new (hopefully) freshies. Never expected so much responses. I hope this post helps others also. Thanks so much everyone :)
Edit2: From the comments i've been reading, i'm definately leaning much more towards the NTU side, coz the pros of attending NTU def wins the pros of attending NUS (from my pov) and from where i live.
hello in need of more ntu friends do hmu if u wanna makan together or stuff
Hey there, a prospective student here. Supposed to enter this year but because of not seeing an email that requested me to confirm my placement in my inbox, my spot has been withdrawn. Itβs been a couple of weeks old.
Just asking, has anyone been in this situation and manage to salvage their spot? Any help would be extremely useful!!!
Update: I just sent admissions an email (on a Sunday as well) and I got reply just 5 mins ago saying theyβll reinstate my placing! See yβall this year hahah. And to those who might be in my spot in the future, give it a shot!
Ps: thank you to all the commenters for the positivity, they were really reassuring and much needed :)

Hi guys, this will be my first post here, and first ever Reddit post as well.
So since year 2, I have been setting myself to go for Computer Science, doesn't matter if it's NUS, NTU or SIT. My plan was: apply for all 3 unis cuz might as well, but I know my GPA has a real low chance of getting into NUS and NTU, less so for SIT which is the uni I think I'm most realistically going to.
Stats:
I'm an international student, but I've been studying here since secondary.
I'm from NP, if somebody needs to know.
My GPA after 5 sems is 3.63 (my 6th sem isn't looking like it's gonna help bring it up)
My CCA Record is pretty decent, I think, though idk if this would help that much. (12 Pts in Leadership, and a few for the other categories)
My questions are:
With my GPA, is it realistic for my chances to get into the unis mentioned?
Will my leadership pts and interview/essay (depending on the uni) help my chances?
For SIT peeps, how is Comp Science with the trimester and all? It sounds like you guys might be getting little to no rest with the amount of breaks y'all get.
Thanks in advance and good luck to fellow graduating Poly peeps.
edit: grammar
is it just me or is everyone at ntu fullerton like extremely overworked/ stressed or just really rude :(
when i go there i get ordered around like a literal child by the receptionist the moment i enter the clinic, and then more often than not the doctor is at best dismissive, and at worst condescending, even insulting (more than once i've left fullerton crying when all i did was go get migraine meds or a routine thyroid check..) like dude i'm already feeling unwell and i'm alone in a foreign country, the least u can do is treat me decently....?
it's so bad that the only reason i still go to ntu fullerton (when i really need it) is because of the subsidized $3 consult. i'm an international student so it would cost me $53-73 to go to a polyclinic for just a GP consult, not to mention any medicines and tests (my thyroid screen was half-price at fullerton) that i would have to take if they order any.
i'm looking to see if i can buy some kind of general foreigner health insurance for medical coverage since it may be cheaper as i'm relatively young, but wouldn't that mean i would have to submit a claim every single time i go to see a doctor....? even if i just needed a prescription for migraine medication or for something like flu?
TL;DR don't get sick in singapore as a foreigner, you'll have to pay expat prices even when you're a student working part-time to pay your fees and not an expat on an expat package drawing expat salary.
My CGPA is 3.5-, no CCA from SP MAE. Here's my background I was all The way from EM3, normal technical student from primary and secondary school. After that I went through ITE NITEC then went to army after that higher Nitec and finally poly, well I'm quite old 27 this year (@, my parents still support my decision going to uni which would last milestone in my education. Will I stand a chance for a place in Ntu Mae? Thanks!
hello! iβm not a uni student in ntu but rather go to ntu 2x a week for some extra lessons, as a part of an attachment.
NTU campus is huge, and last time i tried getting a grab from lee wee nam library and tried for a good 30 mins before deciding to just take public transport back. where does normally all the grab alight at? and which is the best place to book a grab from?
i live far in the east so the prices of grab from like eg pioneer mrt is double of that from if i call a grab in ntu? idk howβs that possible but yea can anyone lmk where should i get an taxi from?
May talk about anything relevant; subreddit rules still apply.
NUS gave their students 2 free ART Kits per week - even though they are not fully physical classes yet.
There are some ART Kit vending machines in NTU. It seems like we need to pay for it. Does NTU provide free ART Kit for students? Since most of our mods are fully physical classes already.
It has been quite long (years) since the rest of pools in Singapore started allowing people to swim lengths. But NTU pool gas not allowed for this. Swimming breaths is useless really for a person who can swim. Breaths are good to just dip in water. Hardly any recreational use.
We already have in place a booking system. People can book and come. And I've noticed most of the time, during day time, the pool is empty. This was how it used to be! Atleast during day, allow people to do length swimming please.
I've spoken to management but they seem to not care at all. Not quite sure when it will open.. sigh.
Hello, I was just wondering if any seniors can share their experience in NTU and NUS for accountancy?
I have alr gotten an offer from NTU accountancy through EASE. Can any seniors share their experience of taking accountancy with/without taking minor in digitalization and data analytics?
I am also looking to apply for NUS as well but Iβm unsure how the specialisation and majors work. Could any seniors kindly explain to me >< (I tried reading it online but my brain just couldnβt understand)
Lastly I would like to ask which school would ur rather choose, NTU or NUS? I know NTU is 3 years. So is it lesser things are taught in NTU than NUS?
Tbh Iβm still unsure so I want to know both perspective π
Hi! May I know will nus/ntu revoke my Uni application offer (which is based on poly 5th sem results) after i upload my 6th sem result and I have gotten a very poor result for 6th sem? For example, the cumulative gpa drop 0.15? The 6th sem gpa will be like lower than their 10th percentile for maybe 0.1?
For eg, 5th sem Iβve gotten 3.86, 6th sem my gpa become 3.71. The 10th percentile of the course is 3.81.
Will they revoke my offer if this happens?
Hey, did anyone get offers for double degree programmes (science courses) yet? Or for scholarships?
Also, can I ask, how does this application work? Like, do we only get offers for our first choice? I put REP as first choice so there's no way i am getting for that now since they only consider in March. Also, what about the other 4 choices? Do we get any offers for those?
Thanks everyone! All the best for ur applications!
Hi everyone,
Few days ago I asked r/NTU if there is an NTU Discord Study Lounge to study and chill and make friends and listen to lofi music.
It didn't exist and I got a ton of DMs to make one. So... have fun :D
dis cord . gg/dVvjyg9urQ
I had to split up the link :/
Hi, I am currently an aerospace engineering student at NP with a GPA of 3.47, and I am looking to apply to NTU mech engineering (IGP 3.49) as my first choice and material engineering (IGP 3.39 )as my second choice. I was just wondering what are my chances of getting in and as my GPA falls a bit short of the mech engineering 10th percentile will I be subjected to an interview just to 'complete' with others who are in the same predicament as me? Do feel free to share your experience studying at NTU too all input is welcome! Cheers :)
Iβm an SCSE freshie, maybe itβs too early to ask this, but I wonder where do SCSE graduates continue/planning to continue? Will you take master/phd or go word directly, where? Can I bother any senior to answer?
Iβm currently serving the nation and i got a placement in SIT already but iβm thinking of trying for ntu, i graduated with a gpa of 3.2+ i am looking at mech/materials/environmental engineering(those probably be my top three choices) in ntu, may i know what are the chances i have if i apply for these courses
so this is my first ever post because I just joined Reddit a month ago HAHA
I'm a JC kid who's just finished A levels and I'm planning on taking English Literature as my major in either NTU or NUS. The problem now is that I'm in a dilemma on which university to choose. I did a bit of research yesterday and read about the different modules each university offers but I'm not sure which university has better modules/is better for a lit education. My cousins who entered university before me took STEM-related subjects so I have virtually no one to ask this to and no experience to fall back on haiz.
Aside from English literature, I'm also interested in studying theatre and maybe a bit of philosophy? Because I find philosophy rather interesting and I'm curious to learn about it, but of course my mains will still be literature and theatre. I've read about NTU offering double degrees but I have no idea how that differs from the kind of degrees NUS offers.
Oh and about university culture too. As much as I want to study hard at subjects which I love, I think it would be a shame if there was nothing else to look forward to like overseas experiences, work attachments, clubs, student life, general vibes of the place, etc. I've read that NUS is maybe(?) a bit more vibrant than NTU but then again it's just something I heard off the grapevine so I may be wrong. I'm definitely going for their open houses if there are any but I think first-hand accounts would be great as well so I won't get a culture shock or something the moment I step inside.
If anyone has any advice or experience to share it would be greatly appreciated :)
Hello, I am from SJI and just got my O level results (Raw 7 with minus 2). I am thinking between IB or As in order to get into medicine locally. I am leaning towards IB because I heard it is easier to build a good portfolio there with all the opportunities that come from a more holistic education system. However, I am stuck between ACSI IB and SJI IB. Location wise, SJI is better. I would like to hear if ACSI is that much better than SJI to make it worth twice the commuting time for me.
As for A levels, I want to know what are the perks of taking As when getting into medicine locally. I heard the COP is really high (close to 90) whereas IB COP for the interview is a manageable β₯ 43.
So Iβm not really sure what kinda response Iβm gonna get for this but here goes. Iβm not Singaporean and was born/grown up in the Uk, (which Iβm worried may have an impact to some people of how valid my claim is). I worked unpaid for a professor and his lab manager & wife for a year as a lab assistant as a professional training year of my U.K. uni. My TEP visa was tied to my βemployed trainingβ at NTU. During this year (2019-2020) I noticed after making a few bad mistakes like being late from oversleeping or loosing my ID card that my supervisor and his wife increasingly became more and more aggressive to me not only during the occasional hour long scoldings with them shut in his office but in day to day interaction. The first instance was when I left samples on Ice and after noticing his wife was cold to me he called me into his office to tell me Iβm the worst student heβs ever had and that Iβm the kind of student that will fail and I have no respect for his time and Iβm taking the lab close to the point of serious damage. He told me he might have to do his job as the manager and get rid of me (which I knew meant cancelling my visa and having to quickly leave the country). They told me how disrespectful it is that I asked questions and wanted to know the big and small picture of my work and that it was beyond my comprehension anyways. I asked what I can do to improve to which he said I need to ask his wife the lab manager and when I asked for help with getting more organised as I was having difficulty having only a days notice of what is on my agenda (via post it note), he angrily told me it was the stupidest question heβs ever heard. I took it all in and left after thanking them for their time they both calmed down and stopped shouting.
After this incident similar endpoints occurred for different reasons such as me apparently disrespecting his time on occasions by asking him a question as he was walking past, and sitting with my legs crossed after work hours and responding without being a yes or no answer to a question about if my work is going well, which led to him doing an insulting impression of me and asking me who taught me I could talk to my βbossβ like that. Each time he shouted for roughly an hour and both threats of being fired for my disrespect of his time as well as being the worst student came up. At this point I was very scared to do anything in lab, sometimes shaking, and his wife would often mock how slow and overcareful I was or eve
... keep reading on reddit β‘Those that went for interview during micron ntu day, did anyone receive an offer letter or round 2 interview yet? Its been about 2 weeks but no news from them, not even a rejection email. Wondering whats up with them
NU of S has rolled out its new S/U policy that allows students to S/U AFTER seeing their results at the END OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR instead of end of semester. Whereas our school still stick with the archaistic S/U policy. With the outdated mindset of βacademic rigourβ and βdonβt gamble with your gradesβ. How are we expected to explore modules that we are interested in without the fear of our grades backfiring? Change of curriculum and with the BDE DOES NOT HELP. Why are we getting the shorter end of the stick when NU of S has inflated GPA. Can NTUSU have more teeth or can Subra actually listen to the student population?
Edit: I realise that most of the comments were made by NU of S alumni/students or non-NTU students. Looks at their past posts/comments.
Got sent an offer for this; already pushed a course forwards from y1s1 bc covid, so my workload will probs be rly intense if I take it up. Does it have any additional value to employers, or just saves 1 semester of time and money?
Hi everyone! Recently I'm interested in these 2 courses in NTU(the results are based on 90th percentile):
Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (AAA/A)
Mathematical Sciences (AAA/A)
source: https://digitalsenior.sg/indicative-grade-profile-igp-3-local-universities-level-3h21h1/
So here are my questions, any help is appreciated! :))
1)For the results 3H2/1H1, is H1 Chinese included? I took HCL and got a B3, which is B(8.75) for H1 Chinese for JC, and I'm worried as I may need the A for my H1 subject. >< (and hopefully my 90 rp won't fly away) I'm kidding--I know getting a B in jc isn't easy either >< ><
2)I'm going to be taking H2 Math, phy, computing and translation. (not confirmed yet as my school didn't allocate us the sbj combis yet) If let's say translation is my worst H2, is it going to be counted as H1? (Trans actually is a H2 sbj so idk if it can be counted as H1)
3)Assume one's results are: A for 4H2s, B for GP and H1 CL, and A for PW, how is the results shown(is it like AAA/A)?
4)I know my options may change as I progress through jc, but for now, may I know how the 2 ntu courses above are like? Like...are they competitive in terms of intake?
5)For the courses, what is the ratio of local vs PRs vs international students?
Thank you for your help!! :)) I know it's early to be thinking about these things but here I am fretting over these before As :""
Hi! Iβm applying for university this year and I have a clarification regarding two of NTUβs programs: English and Linguistics and Multilingual Studies.
Can anyone explain more of the difference between both programs? From my understanding, the English program focuses more on literature and theatre studies(?) while the latter is more on the study of the language? I might be wrong but just wanted to clarify.
Iβm keen on becoming an educator in the future, so Iβm not sure which to go for and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! :)
