Dad-joked my Statistics class

On Thursday, I was in Statistics class, when all of the sudden, a girl from another math class nonchalantly wandered into our classroom, grabbed a few tissues from our class tissue box, and walked out, without saying a word. My teacher then jokingly suggested that our class track down people who take our classrooms tissues.

I then responded by saying, "At least she didn't take any of our paper towels. Because then, we would have to hire a Bounty hunter."

The trees look really pretty in this lighting...

Out riding in the car with my boyfriend this evening.

Me: The trees look really pretty in this lighting.

Him: Yeah they really do! That one pine tree has scoliosis.

Me: Oh, does it?

Him: Yeah! Do you see it?

[I see the tree he is referring to.]

Me: nodding yes

Him: (nonchalantly) I guess it's just the curvature of the pine.

I laughed really hard.

A Family Friend

As family friend of ours has not been able to make it to various activities because he is a mortician and keeps getting called into work, when discussing this my very nonchalantly says: "we shouldn't feel too bad for him. Besides, people are dying to see him..."

Edit: spelling

While getting gas my dad says this

This woman goes into Tiffany's and bends over to look at a ring. she accidentally farted, she is embarrassed and thinks no one is around. She turns to see a salesman behind her. Acting nonchalantly, she asks the salesman the price of the ring. He replies,"if you farted just looking at it then you're are going to shit when I tell you the price."

Carrying the torch

My dad would always make up a reason to apologize to pretty women, no matter what the setting was.

Dad: "sorry about that."

Pretty Lady: "oh, you're fine"

Dad, nonchalant shrug: "thanks, I appreciate compliments"

Reactions were diverse, and often uncomfortable, but every time he walked away chuckling.

My Dad and I were at the grocery store.....

......we are almost done and by the dried herbs. He turns to me seriously and says, "I've just got to do one thing before we check out ..."

Me: "ok, what?" (I'm about 14 at the time)

Dad: " I've just got to take a leek".

He grabs the dried leeks packet, nonchalantly flips it into the cart and saunters off.

Not only did he nail the delivery, but he pulled a Costanza.

Dad jokes at baseball practice

Background: Head on a swivel = slang for "quick reflexes", more or less.

So some of us were taking a water break on the bench, when I spotted a wild baseball traveling right for my head going about 80 mph out of the corner of my eye. I lifted my glove and caught it in the most nonchalant way I could.

Team mate: Wow dude, way to keep your head on a swivel.

Me: Oh, no, my head is on a neck.

Team mate: blank stare

Sometimes you gotta counteract smart with stupid.

I was at the beach and my wife and I were doing a crossword puzzle. She is a teacher and much more vocabularily knowledgable than I am. After filling in a few, one of the words she answered was unknown to me.

Me - "Babe, is that a word?"

Her - "Yalta? it's a city."

Me - "Yalta?" and as nonchalantly as is possible, I say "Why I Yalta."

She confusingly looked at me trying to understand what had just come out. She then laughs, proclaims "you are such an idiot," and continues laughing for a good while after, even to this day. Daily stupid joke quota filled.

My friend's dad just pulled this one on us.

So a couple friends and I are watching a movie in one of my friend's basement (The Master of Disguise - Netflix lol). And his dad comes downstairs and in the most intimidating, serious voice says, "Nick, what do I do when you do something wrong?" The tension in the room skyrockets, and Nick says nonchalantly, "Nothing." His dad then slickly replies, "I scream... there's ice cream on the table if you want any."

Chuckling intensifies.

My Dad Should Have Been A Boy Scout

I don't know if this necessarily qualifies as a "dad joke" as much as a "dad move" but when I was younger, about 10 or 11, I was in the backyard with my dad on a summer afternoon. The sun was going down and I nonchalantly said, "I wonder what time it is..." He looked up towards the sun and pointed with his left hand, causing me to look with him. He answered, "Oh, about 5:36." I was in awe that he could be so exact but I still thought it was a guess, so I ran inside to check the clock in the kitchen. Sure enough, it read 5:36. I was amazed but my dad refused to tell me his secret. He just kept saying he just knew based on the sun, and that it was "magic", every time I asked.

I am now 24. And as I was sitting outside the other day, watching the sunset, I thought back to this, still amazed he did it. Then, it clicked. He was wearing a watch on his right wrist, which he looked at when he diverted my attention to looking at the sun. I hope to be like him one day...

tl;dr I thought my dad could tell time by looking at the sun. He looked at a watch when I wasn't looking.

My dad loves horror movies...

When my sister and I were kids and sat in the back seat of a car, we would occasionally feel thumps and bumps from stuff in the trunk during turns. When we asked what it was, Dad would nonchalantly say "Oh, those are just the dead bodies I forgot to hide. Thanks for reminding me." We thought it was funny.

Just dad joked some co-workers.

Heard someone yell out at someone (jokingly) " It's all your fault." I walk up nonchalantly and seriously state. " You know who I usually find the biggest fault with?" Pause for looks of attention. "San Andreas." Turn around and walk away.
