Go to last section on p. 14 (section 42) and read what happened (there's a typo on page 15, where in Alec is referred to as Plaintiff - they'll have to amend the complaint, which is done all the time).
He was 4 feet away. When a prop gun is to be fired (dummy or blank) the crew is supposed to alerted. That didn't happen.
And it didn't happen because the shot they were blocking was simply his hand going to reach for the gun. He was to pull it out, not aim and shoot it.
I'm only half way through AW for the first time, just finished mission 6 last night and I've been thinking about this since then.
A terrorist who has killed 50,000 people (which seems rather small for nuclear melt downs in multiple major metropolitan cities) gave Mitchell a hologram video of Mr. Irons (Kevin Spacey) killing someone.
So, this guys sworn enemy, basically it's the equivalent of ISIS or Osama bin Laden giving him a video which may or may not be a deepfake. Then the next time he sees Irons (within 30 seconds), Mitchell tries to kill Irons for this.

even if Irons did know, which isnt confirmed yet, would people take him seriously? I genuinely doubt he could do anything to stop the attacks. for a few reasons:

People make bomb and death threats all the time. Genuinely.

In 9/11 and even 1/6, the US had warnings and intel saying this was going to happen for weeks before hand and did not take it seriously. What is to say that Iron getting second hand knowledge from a P.O.W. who cant even confirm what the POW knew, is telling the truth?
Outside all of this, what good is Mitchell going to do just by killing Irons? The damage is done and world peace has essentially been established. Think about the greater good.
Idk man. I know its just a story, but this one doesn't add up. More like Mitchell's dereliction of duty.
David seems to be one of the most-wanted potential contestants, but sadly on today's episode of Richard Herring's podcast he has reaffirmed that, despite being a fan of the show and having been invited, he has no interest in taking part. The short version is that he seems quite anxious of the idea that expectations would be high, and that it would only ever be worse than people are imagining, because he doesn't enjoy games and puzzles enough to be a good sport about being bad at them.

Meet Joni
Roberta Joan Anderson (later, Mitchell) was born in 1943 in Alberta, Canada. She got her start as a musician in clubs in Saskatchewan, later the rest of Canada and then moving to performing and touring in the United States. She began to seriously consider a creative career at the age of 9, when she contracted polio and spent her time in the hospital working on her creative talents. She is a self-taught guitarist, and her unique playing styles and tunings stem from the weakness polio left in her hand and the workarounds she devised to compensate. Joni is also a visual artist and has designed most of her album covers, famously describing herself as "a painter derailed by circumstance". Initially gaining notoriety as a songwriter for others (see: Chelsea Morning, Both Sides Now, etc), Joni eventually began releasing her own songs under her own name in 1968 with the Folk album Song to a Seagull. After that, as they say, the rest is history.
