The Dutch national-socialist party NSB started to write 'Jews' as 'jews' in 1942. Was such a linguistic choice part of Nazi propaganda in general?
I am looking into the way the NSB's main propaganda publication wrote about Jews over the course of its existence (1933-1945). One of the things I have found is that it stopped writing 'Jood'/'Joden'/etc. (Dutch for Jew/Jews) in uppercase in the summer of 1942. To me, this seems like a conscious decision. However, the only reference I can find to this is a linguist who suggests the editors considered the uppercase-version of the word 'too much of an honour' (M.C. van den Toorn's words), but he does not offer any evidence for that.
I think it is probably the most plausible conclusion, but can't find any proof nor any example of similar linguistic choices by the Nazis. Was there a precedent to this in Nazi propaganda? Did they alter their language (more specifically: grammar) to make a point?
