A list of puns related to "Nakajima Ki 43"
Hasegawa kit. This is a progress report on my contribution to the Not-So-Usual Group Build.
I removed some bits and cleaned them up, then glued the cockpit together. It was painted Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green along with the fuselage sidewalls. Once dry I painted the leather boot at the bottom of the control stick brown, and the grip black.
I like using masking tape for seat belts in this scale. Especially when you can only see general details. My objective is to just show a hint that seatbelts are there. For Japanese aircraft I cut a couple of strips of Tamiya tape about 1mm wide, then paint them a bronze green (a dark blue green). When dry I place them as appropriate. This kit doesnโt have a way to have shoulder straps, and I know the IJAAF was late adding shoulder straps to their aircraft, so I only put in lap belts.
The Nakajima Sakae engine is painted a dark aluminum color for the base. i used Vallejo acrylic Metal Color 77.703 Dark Aluminum. I did a search online to see the typical colors and it appears to vary between medium or dark gray cylinders, black pushrods, light gray reduction gear housing and aluminum rocker covers. Iโll show that on the next update.
The prop and spinner are painted Tamiya XF-64 Red Brown.
Wing and drop tanks are glued and seams cleaned and ready to prime.
Iโll be using Empire City Decals for markings.
