A list of puns related to "Márquez"
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Márquez has been on my "To Read" list for a long time and I finally got around to reading it, but it was a TOUGH read. Took a couple months to champ through, and my first comment after reading the last page was "What. The. Actual. ****?"
There was so much I LOVED about the book from the flowery writing, to the nonchalance of the magical realism, but I wish I was more mentally prepared for some of the... recurring themes and actions throughout the book and (Kinda Spoiler Warnings) the book/story of the town of Macando seemed to wrap itself up by disappearing off the face of the Earth with the torrential winds.
I enjoyed the history repeating itself with Aurelianos and Arcadios (mostly) following the same paths, but plenty of the family deaths seemed almost pointless, where plenty of their ends had me thinking, "Oh yeah, I forgot that character was still alive."
I'm still trying to compartmentalize all my jumbled thoughts about the book, but for all the beauty, grandeur, and tribulations that surrounded Macondo, the town kinda just fell off into obscurity. I guess I can be cliche and say, "It's not about the destination, but the journey and memories made along the way?"
Would greatly appreciate to hear takeaways and afterthoughts from anyone else who've read the book!

Urge hacer algo.
I'm not sure why I put off reading this book for so long. I loved 100 Years of Solitude and wanted more by García Márquez, and yet I resisted reading this other deservedly famous work. Partly, because I foolishly dismissed it as a silly romance, and partly because a friend described it as 'pointless and meandering.' But I downloaded this book on impulse and I'm glad I did.
It isn't quite as surreal as 100 Years (though a few fantastical elements like perfumed crows swoop in unobtrusively into the perfectly plausible port city the story is set in). Here, the magic lies in the prose. It is as close to poetry as a novel has a right to be. Wryly witty, powerfully evocative, and with characters so well rounded you'd know them as well as your own family.
Some, like my friend, may find it 'meandering and pointless.' But this isn't the sort of book you read for answers, this is the sort of book you read for an experience. Love in the Time of Cholera was a feast, and I savoured every word.
So I just got into MotoGp this year and I keep reading about how good was the 2019 season of Márquez, but looking at the results, it seems to me that the 2014 season was better with 13/18 wins. What made the 2019 season of Márquez better than the 2014 one? If someone who watched them both live could explain I'd really appreciate it!
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 50%. (I'm a bot)
> BOGOTA, Colombia - For decades renowned Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez kept the public from knowing about an intimate aspect of his life: He had a daughter with a Mexican writer, with whom he had an extramarital affair in the early 1990s.
> El Universal said that in the early 1990s Márquez had a daughter with Susana Cato, a writer and journalist who worked with Márquez on two movie scripts and who also interviewed him for a 1996 magazine story.
> ADVERTISEMENT.Shani García Márquez, one of the writer's nieces, told the AP that she had known for years about her cousin Indira, but had not mentioned her to the media because her parents always asked her to be discrete about her uncle's personal life.
> Gabriel Eligio Torres García, who is also a nephew of the Colombian writer, said he has been in touch with Indira Cato through social media, though he has never met her in person.
> Torres García said that Indira Cato's mother, Susana, had also been discrete about her daughter's lineage, to keep her away from the media spotlight.
> García Márquez' family said they didn't want to share her contact information because they were not authorized to do so, and the AP could not contact Indira Cato independently.
