The boy's nervousness builds, but he then asks, "Do you like potato pancakes?"
"No," comes the answer and the silence returns like a suffocating blanket.
"Do you have a brother?"
"No."
After giving it some thought, the boy plays his last card, "If you had a brother, would he like potato pancakes?"

8yo: "Dad! I've got a joke I think you'll like. It's about bikes."
Me: "Yeah? What is it?"
8yo: "What kind of moustache does a bike grow?"
Me: "I don't know."
8yo: "A handlebar!"
I'm very proud.
Son: (says word that sounds an awful lot like f*ck, but it's garbled so it's hard to understand)
Me: What did you just say?
Son: (repeats garbled word)
Me: Where did you hear that word?

The Prince of the vultures had always been a rebel, but he surprised everyone when he announced he was going to be a vegetarian. And nobody expected this to divide the vulture kingdom, with nearly half the vultures supporting the Prince's choice. Tempers flared, and civil war was brewing when the Prince burst into the King's chambers.
"Father," he cried, "I never meant to cause this. I'll do anything you say to reunite the kingdom. Please, Father, what should I eat?"
The King set a plate of roadkill in front of the Prince, and said "Carrion, my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done."
To celebrate, we invited all the family and friends we could to my parents' house and then made the big announcement. Everyone was ecstatic and my father in particular was driven to tears. At a certain point during the night he pulled me aside and led me into his study, which I had never really been inside until this point. He opened a safe and produced cigars a bottle of whiskey and a large, beautifully bound book.
"I could never have asked for a better son," my father said, lighting the cigars and pouring the whiskey. "I hope you think I was a good enough father to deserve you."
"Of course, Dad," I said, "You were all I could've asked for and I wish my son admires me even half as much as I admire you."
"Now I've shared with you nearly everything I know," he said, "But not this one thing. This is the Big Book of Dad Jokes. There are many like it but this one is special. My father gave it to me when your mother and I first found out she was pregnant with you, and I studied it and studied it, learning all the dad jokes I could and mastering book's secrets. I hope it serves you as well as it served me in being a father... No... I know it will serve you well. I love you, my son."
"Dad... I don't know what to say... I'm honoured..."
"Hi Honoured, I'm Dad."
Rather worried, Noah said โBut my Lord, have the people not been good this time? Must there be another flood?โ
โNo, there will not be a flood, the people have been good.โ Said the Lord.
โThen why another ark?โ Asked Noah.
โI wish for this ark to only house fish.โ The Lord replied.
A slightly confused Noah responded โOkay... I shall do as you wish my Lord.โ
โBut not just any fish; only carp.โ The Lord said unto him.
Noah, now more bemused, replied โUh- okay my Lord.โ
โOne more thing.โ The Lord said unto him โit needs to have multiple levels.โ
โAre you sure my Lord? What is the purpose of this? What on earth is it all for?โ Noah pressed.
And God said: โI want you to build a multi-story carp-ark.โ
Passed from my father unto me, to pass onto my son when he becomes a father.
Father: "So, how does it feel being a dad?"
Son: "It feels good. I'm a bit scared of course, but so excited at the same time. How does it feel being a grandfather?"
Father: "It feels pretty great. You've always been a good son and I've been patiently waiting for this special moment. There's something now that I have to give you."
The son watches curiously as his father pulls a large tome out of his backpack with exquisite text on the cover: 'The Big Book of Dad Jokes'.
Father: " For generations these sacred texts have been passed down through the patriarchs of our family. My father gave it to me when you were born and now, as a new father yourself, I bestow it to you. With this book you will have all the knowledge needed to become a truly great Dad."
Son: " Wow, Dad, this is amazing! Truly! I'm... I'm honored."
The father smiles as he extends his arm out to shake his son's hand and says,
"Nice to meet you, Honored. I'm Dad."
A little boy named Tom was approaching his 3rd birthday, and absolutely adored the show "Tractor Tom", partially because of his name being spoken, and partially because he loved tractors.
As the day drew nearer, his parents decided to buy him a toy tractor as a gift. The rest of his toys were gone with the wind at this point, as Tom spent all his waking hours playing with this one tractor toy.
Fast forward a few years, and Tom's now approaching his 10th birthday, with his love for tractors intact and intensified. His parents discuss what to get for him, and decide that a ride-on tractor to replace his bike is the best gift they can give him.
Tom absolutely loves the gift, and spends all of his time out of school riding around the neighbourhood while his bike collects dust in the garage.
We come forward a few more years, as Tom approaches his 18th birthday, with an only intensified adoration of tractors. His father pulls him aside on the morning of his birthday, saying "Now son, I know that we've promised you a car, but we know what you really want."
He leads him outside, to a brand new tractor with a bow on it, saying that this is his welcome to adulthood.
Tom is beyond excited, and spends the next few months going everywhere in his tractor - grocery trips, bars, classes, friends' houses.....
Again, a few years later, Tom is driving down a back country road, in the middle of nowhere, with his tractor, in the middle of a storm. The tractor breaks down, and with no air conditioning or any form of modern comforts, Tom is in a miserable mood until someone finally comes past for him to flag down for help. After this, Tom realises that although tractors are fun, maybe they're not the best transport method out there.
Tom ages through a few more years, and finds himself driving down another road in the middle of nowhere in his car, and sees a house on fire just off the road. Being a good samaritan, he pulls over and heads up the driveway to a woman running out of the house screaming "Please, help, help! My baby is trapped in there! Go and call 911, please!"
Tom turns around, then, before leaving, has a brainwave.
He turns back and walks towards the flames, saying "Don't worry, ma'am, I've got this."
He takes a deep breath in, and the fire disappears into nothingness. As you'd expect, the woman is in awe, and asks, "Oh my God, how did you do that?!"
Tom simply responds, "Well you see ma'am, I'm an extractor fan."

>Native American child is with his father. He looks up at him and says "Dad, how did you figure out what to name us when we were born?"
>
>The dad responds "Son, it's easy: I just looked around nature and what I saw is what I named you. Your sister, Flying-Eagle, for instance, was born while an eagle flew overhead. Your brother was named Roaming-Buffalo for a similar reason. Why do you ask, Two-Dogs-Fucking?"

"No, my Maynard son. They would fly too fast, and we cannot reach up there with our arms."
Finally, "Dad! Dad! Check it out! A herd of brontosaurus! It'd be so easy!"
"No, my Maynard son. Brontosaurus ribs take a long time to properly age before they're good eating. Everyone knows this."

This morning, my wife gave me the heads up that my 7 yo sonโs card was all his idea.
The card he made had a very detailed drawing of my tower fan on the front. I looked at it confusedly and opened it up to read:
โDad, you are FANtastic!โ
Best Fatherโs Day ever.
My granddaughter was recently born, and she is, of course, perfection incarnate. However, the night she was born, I got my son.
We had left his girlfriend's hospital room where she was in labor (14 1/2 hours!) to get some coffee. As we did so, I gave him some fatherly advice.
Me: Son, you know how everyone acts like all babies are beautiful?
Him: Yeah.
Me: Well, you and I both know that it's not true. There are some ugly babies out there. Now, I am not saying yours is going to be, I am sure she's going to be fine, but just in case...
Him: Yes?
Me: You know those signs at some bathrooms that say "Baby Changing Station"? Just stick her in there, close the lid...
Him: OMG, Dad, shut the fuck up!
Me: <literally tapdancing away>
Father and son project; painting a bicycle I recently salvaged. It was my first time using spray paint...
Dad: Make sure you shake that can before spraying it on there.
Me: How long do I shake it for?
Dad: Until the marble dissolves.
After 15 minutes and a sore arm I started asking questions...
I was skiing and got onto a chairlift with a father and his son (around 6 years old). The father was asking if his son's fingers were still cold. His son, looking visibly upset said "They were okay, but I had forgot about them and just mentioning my fingers made them start hurting again! Don't say another word about my fingers!"
You could hear the gears turning, and I watched the smirk form on the father's face as he proudly stated "Another word about my fingers". His son burst into tears.
Me: "Since its Fathers Day, I get to do whatever I want!"
5 Year Old: "Me too!"
"It doesn't work like that."
"Sure it does! It's son-day!"
Awww nuts.
Edit: 2500! Thanks guys! And on my cake day too.
Me and my Father were discussing career options for me, and I announced my intention to be a pilot
He said 'that's not gonna fly in this house, son'
He's taken aback because he can't seem to remember where he knows her from.
So he says, "Do you know me?"
To which she replies, "I think you're the father of one of my kids."
Now his mind takes him back to the one time that he has ever been unfaithful to his wife.
"My God, are you the stripper from my bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with a celery?"
She looks into his eyes and says calmly "No, I'm your son's teacher."
Him: I lost my marbles!
Me: Oh?
Him: Yeah, and they were sentiMENTAL to me!
He then laughed and put his hand up for a high five. He is truly his fathers son:) My husband is very proud!
Son: Dad, I turn 16 in a few months and would really like a car for my birthday.
Father: Well son, Iโll make a deal with you. If you do three things for me, Iโll get you the car. First, you need to improve your grades. Second, I want you to see you in church every Sunday. And finally, I want you to cut your long hair.
A FEW MONTHS PASS
Son: Dad, next week is my birthday and Iโve done everything you asked. Can I get a car?
Father: I did notice you got straight Aโs on your report card and Iโve seen you at church every Sunday. But you didnโt cut you hair. I told you to cut your hair.
Son: I wanted to talk to you about that. In bible study I learned that Moses, John the Baptist, and Jesus all had long hair.
Father: Yes they did. And they walked everywhere they went.
On our last day of a three day trip at Disneyland, my 7 year old revealed his inner father to my wife.

I have never been so proud.

One day a young condor becomes disillusioned with his life and declares to his parents, "I'm leaving and never coming home". He leaves and wanders for a few weeks, but as is the way of things, he realizes he has made a mistake. The young condor returns home and begs forgiveness. His parents are simply happy to see their prodigal son return home and welcome him with open wings.
The young condor realizes that he has not eaten much recently and is starving. "What's for dinner?" he asks.
His father replies, "Carrion, my wayward son."
Here's a joke my dad told me. Sorry if you've heard it, but I found it hilarious, and I think you might enjoy it.
In a small town in the suburbs, there was a small family of balloons. There was a mummy balloon, a daddy balloon, and a small child balloon. Every night the boy would sleep between his parents, but his father had had enough.
"son, I know you love sleeping between us, but you're getting a bit too old for it., " the father said. "You're nearly 8, you're a big boy, and your mother and I think you should sleep in your own bed from now on. You can stay tonight but starting tomorrow we want you in your own bed. Do you understand?"
"Yeah dad, I understand..." the boy said with a maudlin tinge to his voice.
"okay son, I love you."
"love you too dad"
The next night the boy tried sleeping in his own bed, but there was a storm outside. It was a dark, ominous storm - the kind of storm that sounds like a cataclysm for the end of the world.
The boy was scared, so he went to sleep in his parents room. However when he tried to squeeze between them, he found he didn't fit. He felt defeated. He felt scared. He felt alone.
But then an idea struck him. He decided he'd just let a little bit of air out of his father. He tried to squeeze in again, but had no such luck. So he let a little bit of air out of his mother. He tried again. Still no luck. Finally, he decided to let some air out of himself. Success! He squeezed in tightly and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning his parents were furious. His father was feeling particularly angry, and screamed at his son.
"son, I told you not to sleep in our room. I told you to sleep in your own bed! Didn't I say that Hun?"
"yes dear," the mother said, feeling slightly deflated.
"so son, what do you have to say for yourself?" the father asked in anger.
"it was dark and stormy and..." the boy tried to spit out.
"I don't care son!" the father interrupted. "you can't keep doing this! I'm very disappointed. You've let me down, you've let me down, but worst of all..."
A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5 year old son waiting for him at the door.
โDaddy, may I ask you a question ?โ
โYeah, sure, what is it ?โ replied the man.
โDaddy, how much money do you make an hour?โ
โThatโs none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?โ the man said angrily.
โI just want to know.ย Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?โ pleaded the little boy.
โIf you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.โ
โOh,โ the little boy replied, head bowed.
Looking up, he said, โDaddy, may I borrow $9.00 please?โ
The father was furious. โIf the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed.ย ย Think about why youโre being so selfish.ย I work long, hard hours every day and donโt have time for such childish games.โ
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boyโs questioning.ย How dare he ask such questions only to get some money.
After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son.ย May be there was something he really needed to buy with that $9.00 and he really didnโt ask for money very often.
The man went to the door of the little boyโs room and opened the door.ย โAre you asleep son?โ he asked.
โNo daddy, Iโm awake,โ replied the boy.
โIโve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,โ said the man.ย โItโs been long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Hereโs that $9.00 you asked for.โ
The little boy sat straight up, beaming.
โOh, thank you daddy!โ he yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills.ย The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man.
โWhy did you want more money if you already had some?โ the father grumbled.
โBecause I didnโt have enough, but now I do,โ the little boy replied.
โDaddy, I have $20.00 now.ย Can I buy an hour of your time?โ
The father looked upon his son with a smile as he walked towards the door and said "Overtime is double pay."
While reading an article about fathers and sons drinking together, I remembered the time I took my daughter out for her first drink.
Off we went to our local bar only two blocks from the house.
I got her a Guinness. She didn't like it, so I drank it.
Then I got her a Killian's she didn't like that either, so I drank it.
Finally, I thought she might like some Harp Lager? She didn't. I drank it.
I thought maybe she'd like whiskey better than beer so we tried a Jameson's; nope!
In desperation, I had her try that 25 year old Glenfiddich. The bar's finest scotch. She wouldn't even smell it. What could I do but drink it!
By the time I realized she just didn't like to drink, I was so shit-faced I could hardly push her stroller back home!!!

My Dad was the worst. And by that, I mean the best. He had a Dad Joke for everything.
I accidently left my wallet in my pants and they went through the wash?
"Don't you know it's illegal to launder money?" He would crack.
We would drive by the cemetery and he would always remark.
"That place is so popular, people are dying to get in"
Many groans were had.
I would ask him, "Dad, where do you get all these awful jokes?" and he looked square in the eye and said.
"Son, on the day you were born - your Grandfather - my father gave me a book. '1001 Dad Jokes' and that where I get them from"
And life continued. Any opportunity to crack wise he would take it. Even when I moved out and got my own place it didn't stop. I had my Dad over to help me repaint the walls from cream to white.
"Boy" He whistled. "This wall sure pales in comparison to that one"
My eyes rolled and he just shrugged. "It's the book!"
He couldn't even help himself at my wedding and broke out a Dad Joke during the toast.
"If this is the toast, where are the eggs?"
"Sorry son, it's the book!" He said with a devilish grin.
So months pass and my wife is in labor at the hospital with our first child. I'm sitting in the waiting room with my dad for support. Suddenly, a nurse comes out beaming with glee.
"Congratulations, sir! It's a girl!"
Me and my dad jump up and whoop for joy, hugging. I can't wait to go in and see my wife and child.
"Wait son" My dad says and pulls a little book out of his jacket pocket. "This is for you"
I look at the little book and sure enough, it's "1001 Dad Jokes"
I tear up instantly.
"I...I.." I stammer.."I'm touched.."
My dad gets the world's biggest shit-eating grin on his face.
"Hi touched...." He pauses for effect.
"I'm Dad"
My first son was born late on Sunday night. My parents came to visit my family in the hospital today and my dad was telling me how they thought they had parked next to my car before they saw the parking spot was marked "Clergy Only".
I told him I could park there because I was a Father now.
My father is having ankle problems lately and he was trying to describe to me where it hurts and how it felt.
Dad: It feels really sore around my ankle and comes down to my Achilles. It only hurts off and on though.
Me: Well have you tried an ice pack? Maybe you need to wrap it.
Dad: Yo Yo Yo! My ankle is killing me. Word out, son!
I came up with this joke when I was probably about 6 years old, and thought it would fit in here. I can still recall the day I came up with it. I was at school, and I remember being super incredibly proud of myself, 100% certain that everybody was going to lose their shit when they heard the joke. That night I told it to my family. They barely reacted at all. I think my mom gave a polite chuckle, and my sister just walked off. I was devastated.
Anyway, here's the joke:
What did the father say to his son?
You've got to be KIDDING me!
There are three classes of cheerios, the lower class (plain ol' cheerios), the middle class cheerios (frosted), and the elite class (honey nut). One soggy morning in Seattle, a plain cheerio awoke in his single room apartment. He looked out at the still sleepy city, blanketed in a mist of rain. He quickly got dressed and put his shoes on, this would be the day. He stood propped against the bus stop, smoking a cigarette. "God I have got to stop this habit." He thought to himself. Glancing back and forth at the bustle of cheerios, he saw her. She looked about 25, devastatingly gorgeous, and he could smell the honey from where he stood. "Excuse me ma'am," his voice quivered, "I - I think you might be the most beautiful cheerio I have ever seen." She smiled and her otherwise golden brown face grew red.
