A list of puns related to "Mobile broadband modem"
I've been looking for this and haven't been able to find a list. I did find in FortiOS 6, you could get a list of supported broadband modems once you enable the modem option, but in FortiOS 7, I'm not seeing that list after I've enabled the lte-modem support. Am I missing something, or should I be looking at a different Fortinet product?
I bought a 4G LTE mobile broadband modem that accepts SIM Cards for my RV.
I got the SIM card and the modem set up and I can connect to the modem, but it doesnβt seem like the modem is connecting to the internet.
The SIM card I am using is a Walmart StraightTalk $55 unlimited plan.
Any ideas why it isnβt connecting? It seems like I have tried everything at this point.
I have the little white LTE Modem right now that is doing it's thing, but a couple things about it bother me, such as not having external antenna ports.
I have an ARC CBA850 from Cradlepoint that I was using previous to this. Can I just throw the SIM card into it and get going?
I just got my modem. Activated a Sim through straighttalk. Once I out the sim in the modem it says mobile broadband disconnected on the Netgear dashboard. I put it back in the phone and everything works perfectly. Can someone advice on what I'm to do? The closest tower to me is Verizon and this is a Verizon straight talk sim card. My regular phone is also through straighttalk and I get perfect service. My phone uses band 2.
Slackware-live-xfce-current.iso from Alien Bob's web site does not support 3G USB modem/dongle. Option "New Mobile Broadband connection" does not show up on Network Manager Applet list, when 3G USB modem is plugged in. Mobile broadband Internet (3G USB modem) in order to work properly with Network Manager Applet, needs the following three packages :
usb-modeswitch, ModemManager, mobile-broadband-provider-info. Make sure these 3 pkgs are installed.
Hello all, I am somewhat new to Linux and I now need to use a USB modem for my work. The problem is when I try to connect to the broadband connection, it says "activation of network connection failed":
$lsusb gives:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 13d3:5a02 IMC Networks

Bus 001 Device 015: ID 05c6:6000 Qualcomm, Inc. Siemens SG75
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
the fourth entry is my modem.
$usb-devices gives:

It may need a driver? but I don't know how to download it, none show up in software & updates > additional drivers.
when I go into disks I get three options for "Identify As" in mount options, I have tried all of them. I have also tried all the different plans they show as possible for my provider. in the mobile broadband settings "add new connection"
I've tried $gedit /etc/modules
and changed the file to:
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded
# at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored.

and then
$gedit /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/05c6\:6000
which I changed to

DefaultProduct = 0x6000
TargetVendor = 0x05c6

then
$gedit /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/05c6\:6000
then
$usb_modeswitch -c /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/05c6\:6000
These were all the solutions I could find online, and none have yet worked, so I am stumped, thank you so much anyone who might be able to help!
I was searching a few weeks ago regarding the usage of a USB mobile broadband modem and Fi's data only SIMs. I didn't find much information and Fi support didn't really give me a difinitve answer, so I took a gamble and bought an unlocked Huawei E3276 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Unlocked-Huawei-E3276s-500-LTE-4G-CAT-4-Hilink-150-Mbps-USB-Broadband-Modem-New-/121816643710?).
After downloading the drivers & desktop software online and entering the APN data within the Huawei's desktop connection manager application, I was online in seconds.
I'm on a Surface Pro 3 and running Win10. I definitely recommend it.
As the title suggests, I want to monitor and/or block devices connected to my network. I am on a 140gb/month mobile plan, so I have to be a bit more careful with data than most. Being a mobile modem, and a cheap one at that, my options are obviously limited. I can't install DDR-WRT or anything like that on it. I've tried spiceworks (my computer is on nearly 24/7) but I find it hard to understand. Reading through the subreddit, someone suggested to another that they try sophos utm home but apparently this needs a dedicated computer, which I don't have.
I was considering setting up a Pihole to block ads network wide, could this also be used to monitor and block traffic from other devices? In the modem I CAN turn on MAC/IP/Port filtering, but I'm not entirely sure that's the solution I need.
Yeah I know I can buy a cheap print server but I just wanted to find out if it's possible. I feel like it should be but don't know. Thanks for reading.
Having been a ubuntu user who has faced all kinds of issues with mobile broadband from 12.04 to 16.04, I feel this is the most common thing that most people should know. In order to white-list your USB device on ubuntu, just do this:
Open /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules
in super-user mode for editing.
Add a this line anywhere at the end:
# Huawei E173 (Reliance 3G)
# Get vendor-id and product-id using lsusb command and enter below:
ATTR{idVendor}=="xxxx", ATTR{idProduct}=="xxxx", RUN+="usb_modeswitch '%b/%k'"
Just make sure you enter the correct vendor-id and product-id of your device (you can get them by running lsusb
) and you are done! If you are facing any issue due to mode switching not happening for your device, your problem will be solved!
Hi, i was trying to establish mobile broadband connection on this laptop i entered the SIM card, use the instructions from here - https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/18/html/System_Administrators_Guide/sec-Establishing_a_Mobile_Broadband_Connection.html- but it seems that my modem is not detected by system. Somebody has similiar issue and found a solution?
I'm on the UNLOCK599 plan costing me 700rs/month. This month Asianet has added an extra 500rs to my bill, informing me that if any damage were to happen to my modem (due to voltage variation, lightning etc.) they would replace it for free. Otherwise I'd have to pay 2499rs to have the modem replaced. Has this happened to any of you? Should I pay the fee or take the risk? Also, I've noticed some shady shit from Asianet before, so I am a bit worried if they can intentionally damage my modem if I don't pay.
Any advice would be appreciated.
You do not have to rent your cable modem/router from Bend Broadband. In fact it is cheaper to buy your own. Bend Broadband will allow you to use your own and frankly it is just not that hard to set it up yourself. Since Bend Broadband currently offers a max of 1Gig you should buy a modem that handles at least that fast even if you have a slower package because internet speeds will go up as time goes along.
This is what I am using at our house. This setup will definitely work with Bend Broadband. There are other Cable Modems and Routers that will work but this is what is working for us. My router is a few years old but does the job. Any more modern router should work.
ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Cable Modem R6900 β Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Dual Band Gigabit Router
Here is what I did to get it set up.
First get the MAC address of the new cable modem and have it handy. Call Bend Broadband and tell them you want to use your own modem. They'll ask for the MAC address and tell you that you should be good to go within half an hour (I was back up about 5 minutes). You can test the new modem by making a wired connection to your computer. Once this works you can hook up the router which isn't too difficult. Take a short drive to 97 and Empire and return the old modem/router to Bend Broadband. You'll start saving money.
Good luck!
Hello there, So I've been using airtel broadband since the last 6 months and I'm using the modem which they've provided along with the plan. But the modem doesn't have a 5GhZ Band in it and I'm having a spare D-Link router which I want to use. But I'm not really sure how to configure it with the router since the one airtel provided is already configured. If anyone here who has successfully done this please help me out!
Anyone have experience trying both NBN Fixed Wireless and Mobile Broadband (4G)?
NBN Fixed Wireless seems better for download size (unlimited) but wondering if speed and ping would be better on Mobile Broadband.
Also have anyone tried the antenna's telstra sells?
Finally too sick of telstra to deal with them anymore and am likely switching to Aussie Broadband. Will need a new router for our house, but not really sure what to start looking for.
Currently there are 3 of us in the house, require at least 4 ethernet ports, a landline connection, and fax. We've got some pretty thick b rick walls in the house, so would appreciate something better than the Telstra "Smart" v2 modem which drops wifi all the time.
Any advise or recommendations would be awesome.
Hi! So ive recently decided to buy a mobile broadband sim-card. It supports 5G, therefore I'm looking for a non-portable router that supports the 5G network. Price can be anything I just need the router :)
Hope you can help me!
Thanks
Seb :)
