A list of puns related to "Misleading graph"
Hi! Iβm trying to educate myself on racial inequality and this graph was sent to me by a conservative- I was wondering if anybody had context/background to explain as it does not feel like an accurate graph. Graph
Hey yβall,
Is there a word for how graphs can be misleading by the unit theyβre shown in?
An example can be a graph demonstrating how much the temperature varies within a 24 hour period. When you create the graph, you can demonstrate temperature by 5Β° increments or 1Β° increments. Obviously the 5Β° increments will make it seem like the temperature varies more than it would with a 1Β° measurement.
I was just wondering if thereβs a term for this scenario.
Thanks so much. Sorry if I did a bad job explaining it, just something that crossed my mind.

Take a look at that link. Boy those charts are scary. Pay close attention to the left axis. At first glance it looks like they are near 100% capacity and the surge is off the charts. Wait, you mean it's only up 10% well let's graph that against the 100% of bed capacity.

Won't quite garner the same headlines.
I'm teaching a lesson on interpreting and representing statistics, and I always try to incorporate real-world examples into topics like this where there's a clear connection.
This may be obvious to some people, I'm not sure if other Samsung phones do it, but I just noticed that my S20+ reports battery stats by day, and not by battery charge. This is really misleading when looking at screen on time.
My Pixel 3 would reset the battery graph after a charge to 100%, but as far as I can tell, this phone doesn't. So if I use the phone for 3 hours, it dies, I charge it all the way back up to 100%, and then it dies after 3 more hours, the battery graph reports 6 hours of screen on time.
This makes a lot of the "Great battery life!!!" posts on here that show a screenshot of the battery stats really inaccurate.
