A list of puns related to "Mischief Brew"
Title. If you see this: hello I like your jacket lol
I'm a lifelong Central PA resident and holy hell did this song hit me with a weird nostalgia/pride. It makes me want to improve this state, not that I think its current direction is particularly bad or anything (with the sole exception of our pro-fracking stance).
>I love to just to leave you
But it's good to see you
Really hit home for me because I spent the first half of my life dreaming about leaving, and now I can't imagine going anywhere else.
I don't really know where else to post this or why I want to tell people about this, but I felt like I had to.
O Pennsyltucky is filled with a bunch of specific references to life in PA. Erik was great at packing a lot of history in just a few words in that song and many others. One part has always eluded me though, and I figured if anyone would know it would be someone here.
So, here is the part I can't figure out:
Another, a browbeater, boxer, and saint
When he finally got caught,
The cops made a few calls
They opened his cell
Never fought him again
Genius has nothing about this section, other than a definition of the word browbeater. I've done deep dives on Wikipedia for Philadelphia history, boxers from PA, criminals, public figures, etc. over the years and I cannot figure it out. With the super specific references to Centralia, Three Mile Island, mining history, PA's infamous never ending road work, etc. it doesn't seem at all possible to me that there isn't a story behind this part which he dedicates nearly an entire verse to.
So, anyone know?
Does anyone know if this song based on a specific person? I have it stuck in my head and Iβd love to know if itβs based on a real person.
Ever since Erik died I've been wanting to get a tattoo as a tribute to him and his work. However, I am not the most creative man, so I hope you guys can help me out. The songs that impact me the most are Kentucky Anarchist and Punx win. Kentucky Anarchist is just a touching song overall and in Punx win, this always gets me:
"This song's a weapon, defense against the dying years, that anytime you feel every story's been spun
Poison river, got a paddle, and I'll never leave without ya"
The trouble is I don't want words/quotes in my tattoo, I want the art to symbolize the words/feelings, not be a copy.
If you guys have any inspiration to share with me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Iβve always loved Mischief Brew and Iβve never really found any punk or folk punk that can compare to what Erik was doing. I know all the big names in folk punk, but Iβm not super familiar with the lesser known people and bands. I canβt keep listening to the same stuff my whole life. Is there anything out there that comes close?
If I had to describe what Iβm looking for Iβd say Iβm hoping to find something intelligent, interesting and musically talented, melodic but gritty without being crusty. Thanks!
Hello everyone!
I've spent the last year working with Denise to gather art commissioned from all over the world to be displayed at a show in a 5 year remembrance and celebration of Erik and his music. I had originally wanted this to take place in May of this year but California was still easing out of the lockdown. So it will be held in October, tentatively at a brewery just outside of San Diego.
All the pieces will be auctioned off online and donated entirely to charity. I have chosen Mama's Kitchen (https://www.mamaskitchen.org/) in San Diego as one of the charities. Other charities on behalf of Denise/Fistolo and our host space will be determined later.
So I am looking for fans to submit art for the show!
Any medium, style, or format is welcome, as long as it is related to Erik/MB/Orphans/Kettle Rebellion/Pugs/Fistolo. Portraits, song lyrics, pirate pugs, and whatever else!
Current commissions include digital prints, gouache, ceramic, wood linocut print, pen/ink, acrylic on vinyl records, acrylic on paper, embroidery, and stuffed repurposed cloth!!
In exchange for an art donation, I will send a set of 3 silkscreened patches that I made last year (the Mischief Brew logo, Fistolo logo, Up the Pugs logo.) Additionally, an art donation will enter you into a raffle for one of 4 sets of records including a blue polkadot AJJ split 10", Bacchanal/Philadelphia colored represses, Under the Influence split 7", "This is Not for Children" record, and a Fight Dirty CD.
Deadline is September 1st 2021.
Send me a DM here, an email to mischiefbrewcharityartshow @ gmail.com, or send me message on instagram at https://www.instagram.com/whalefallartcollective/ (I've posted pictures of every commission I have received thus far.)

Hey yβall. :) Believe me, I know itβs a long shot
I used to own Smash the Windows, Songs From Under the Sink(signed!) and Bellingham and Philadelphia. I came into some really hard times a few years back and sold em.
Iβm rebuilding my collection back up and would love to have em again.
Does anyone have them and willing to let go? Or do you know where I can find em? I know theyβll be expensive and Iβm okay with that!
Thanks Iβm advance :)
