A list of puns related to "Miranda Raison"
EDIT: For those who care, many of the other voice actors are quite prominent in other media. Blackwall (Alastair Parker) is pretty much a staple for any gruff sounding British guy (such as in Dragon Commander and Rome 2), while Leliana is the French Wii Fit trainer. Many of them also were in the game The Secret World (where Leliana is once again a ditzy badass and Cassandra is basically...Cassandra, except hunting vampires instead of demons). Fun Fact: almost every companion in DAI was on Doctor Who at some point. Everyone now knows that Cass was Tallulah, but did you know that Solas is Ianto Jones (of Torchwood fame)? Blackwall shows up as Limpy the Viking in that newish episode, and Cole played a Russian sailor.
I left the credits on while I decompressed and took in my first time completing the last chapter of Dragon Age to date. Somehow, I'd never heard anyone mention Cassandra's delightful narration of Varric's new book during the credit sequence. I was already cackling into an empty house at 1am before I got to the final delighted exclamation - "I'm in the book!! I'm going to read the shit out of this!"
Bravo, Miranda Raison.
Took me long enough! I started when DAI was first released. However, I got to the Hinterlands Crossroads, and decided I was bored of the game. I gave up, and didn't show any interest until I gave Mass Effect a try a year back. Loved the Bioware aesthetic, marathoned through ME2 and ME3 (DLC's included) pretty quickly. ME Andromeda was good too, but I needed something else, so I decided to give Inquisition another go. Wall of text inbound, with TL;DR at the bottom. I'm not sure how active this sub is with DAI discussions still, but I'm fully up to talk about DAI, the DLCs or anything!
Olin the Mage Inquisitor
Generally quite the paragon, until someone slighted him. At which point, mercy was often out the window (save for a few rare circumstances). Tended to pick the more noble dialogue options, until he got close to Sera and found himself frequently being more sarcastic.
Predominantly a Storm Mage, preferring the shock damage spells chain lightning, energy barrage and static cage, but also (as a Knight-Enchanter) used Spirit Blade, Immolate, and Winter's Grasp. Resurgance and Aegis of the Rift for some AoE team support (especially the latter, I loved taking cover in my bubble shield while dragonfire bounced off).
Cheesed much of the game after acquiring the Ring of Doubt, regularly slipping by enemies and traps to let the other party members engage them, or distract from the front while Olin flanked from the back for massive damage. Energy Barrage coupled extremely well with this, as it didn't break the stealth effect (allowing me to cheese many battles against impossible odds or higher level foes until I could rez my allies).
Supported mage rights, racial inclusion, and long term sustainability of the Inquisition. Tad disappointed he could only choose between dissolving the Inquisition or reducing it into Leliana's Holy Police Department, but hoping DA4 retains the Inquisition as the focal power against the "Dread Wolf".
Allies
Cassandra: Romanced for a while, but transitioned to being good friends after Olin hooked up with another character. Helped her reform the Seekers. She was a permanent member of the party since the start. I'm surprised she didn't hook up with Varric by the end to be honest, I felt the sexual tension was rife after their many arguments and the Swords & Shields miniquest.
Josephine: The romantic endgame for Olin. Generally a pretty good relationship dynamic, albeit a bit disappointed the marriage t
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
So, I was just playing DA2, and I couldn't stop thinking about Meredith's voice acting! I did some research, and the actress is Jean Gilpin. And the way the lines were delivered, the way they carried both power and despair during the final battle, and a sense of righteousness during the previous acts, just stunned me. That got me thinking about some other performances as well.
I think the villains are among my favorites! Loghain (Simon Templeman) was quite memorable as well from DAO, and Corypheus' (David Sterne) delivery was wonderful. You could feel how Loghain was drowning in power and arrogance, and Corypheus simply stunned me with the way he transpired power the first time I saw him (DAI).
Cassandra's (Miranda Raison) voice also grew on me, and now she's one of the most iconic of the entire series IMO, and definitely Varric's (Brian Bloom) as well, given that he's now perhaps the official "narrator" of the series.
Some others have marked me too, Solas (Gareth David-Lloyd) is incredible, Alistair (Steve Valentine) has a lot of character, and Morrigan (Claudia Black) and Flemeth (Kate Mulgrew) make quite the duo.
Anyways, this post is also intended to show some appreciation to the talented actors that have helped to create this series! Honestly, you can just play without paying too much attention to that aspect of the games, but once you do, it's clear how much care and passion have gone into these projects.
Can you guys remember some other performances that have marked you as well?
(After years browsing this place, now it's my turn to ramble at you guys about starships for an hour)
It's easy to think of the 1701 as being the jewel of 23rd century Starfleet. She's been active since the 2240s; had five different captains by the end of her career, has seen and dealt with all kinds of anomalies and hostile lifeforms, and hosted perhaps the most infamous crew in Starfleet's history.
However, she was just one of at least fourteen Constitutions active during that time. Many of them also had long careers and their own Five Year Missions, and many still encountered their own fair share of space wackiness and Klingon shenanigans. Enterprise's may have been perhaps slightly more oddball, but in the eyes of Starfleet Command it was just another day at the office.
The Constitution class was around 20 years old by the time of TOS, being considered an older ship. In those two decades, newer ships such as the Nimitz and Crossfield classes were being developed for combat and scientific roles, respectively. Meanwhile, the Connies were the exploration workhorses - relegated to deep space exploration and wargames during peacetime. Coincidentally this would also be the role the Constitution's direct successor - the Excelsior - would play in the 24th century.
This had the side effect of ensuring Enterprise and the rest of her kind wouldn't see any glory during the Klingon War of the 2250s - as they were relegated to last-resort evacuation duties and ordered to remain on their expeditions. Enterprise also didn't play too much of a role in the ensuing cold war of the 2260s, with her encounter with Kor at Organia perhaps being the most notable Klingon interaction.
Before we get to V'ger, let's just take a minute to remember the other legacy ships. Enterprise is one of four ships to possess a legacy registry. Each of those ships earned their stripes by being truly exceptional to their peers and having performed a critical duty to the Federation. These are:
Do your worst!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Theyβre on standbi
Pilot on me!!
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!
