Best Brown/Mild ales in Texas

I'm starting to get some hop exhaustion from all of the IPAs. Anyone recommend any craft breweries that make mild or brown ales in Texas?

I've been finding Odell Brewing Company's beers to be hit or miss; sadly, their 90 SHILLING ALE falls into the latter category. it's an amber ale, and though it has a mild fruitiness at first sip, the general mouthfeel and aftertaste are unremarkable to me. like others I've had, it's... a beer. πŸ€·β€β™‚

while I like the name and can art for Stillwater Artisanal' WHY CAN'T IBU? 2020, I found it to be an enjoyable, albeit unremarkable, beer. it's a double dry-hopped farmhouse pale ale, and tastes like the sum of its parts; bubbly dryness, mild bitterness, mellow sourness. decent, but not a favorite.

I really wish I could say that Tallgrass Brewing Company's 8-BIT PALE ALE was worth all the work I put into this post, but... well, it's a beer. a decent beer, mind -- a pale ale with mild hops, a bit of a golden crispness -- but, in the end, just a beer. would recommend for fans of, well, beer!

today's shot was a lesson in how not bright I am: I really need to not use spraypaint as body paint. regardless, it worked well for SLO Brew's Blueberry Blonde Ale, which I found pretty good! the maltiness and fruit flavors balance really well; it's a very mild, but pleasant, pairing!

Vienna vs Maris Otter as substitute for mild ale malt in a dark mild???

Thinking of brewing a dark mild ale but can't find mild ale malt locally. Some malt substitution charts recommend Vienna as a substitute. But I've seen a few recipes on this sub that us Maris Otter.

My first instinct is Vienna for more sweetness/body. As I've read mild malt produces more non-fermentable sugars than pale malts and heard similar things of Vienna.

Anyone have any experience with mild ales?

EDIT: I've learned that there is now correct answer this question. And the question is too narrow. It could include other malts and various combinations of them!

30 minute Mild & update on Peach cream ale

Decided to brew up a quick "mild" today, 30 minute mash, 30 minute boil.

  • 7# Pale Ale Malt
  • 1# Crystal 60
  • 4 oz Chocolate malt
  • 2 oz Monroe FWH
  • Imperial Pub

Mashed at 154

O.G. 1.036

Est. F.G. 1.011

Kegged my cream ale that I put on 3 lb peaches. https://imgur.com/a/czdQSqQ original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/comments/gum672/multitasking/

Its OK, next time I think i'll sour the wort since it isn't quite as tart as I would like. I also learned a fair amount from this brew. I've brewed this recipe (without peaches) several times so it was nice to see what this was like on some fruit. Gave me a good experience tweaking a recipe and understanding how those factors impacted the beer.

Also the first time i've actually hit my targets on a 30 min mash/30 min boil and excited to try that some more.

Dark English mild cask ale

Finally got to break in my pin cask this weekend with a dark English mild. I'm away from home with family for vacation right now so I don't have my recipe but this was the first beer to be used in the cask. We naturally carbonated and poured via gravity. Was s ton of fun and a real hit at the party. http://imgur.com/gallery/NAy1O9E

the beer I'm drinking is called Burgkopf, clearly a German name, despite the fact that they're based in LITHUANIA -- but, as the meme goes, THAT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS! this Belgian-style grapefruit-flavor ale is basically TW Pitchers' Radler, but 7.5% ABV and a mild spice! delicious.

Anduin's Amber Ale - Mild Before the Storm Spoilers

I'm a home brewer, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of Anduin, Genn, and Velen bringing the dwarves of Ironforge a large offering of barley to brew beer. During Anduin's conversation with Moira, she mentioned the dwarves calling this special batch "Anduin's Amber Ale".

I think it would be AMAZING if this was the next "Mountain Dew Game Fuel" style WoW promotion. Maybe Anduin's Amber Ale vs Slyvanas's Forsaken Stout

Black Session Ale, or Black Mild?

Trying to come up with a recipe that is essentially an "American" mild. I want to create a sessionable black ale that is reminiscient of a dark mild, but with a bit of black malt for the ash flavor, and perhaps piney hops to make it feel "American." So far I've been leaning towards a usual dark mild recipe; Maris Otter base, C60 and Chocolate, but with the addition of some Black Patent. I love that flavor and feeling in subtle amounts. I also thought that Chinook would be a good single hop addition, and I was leaning towards a single addition at 15 or so minutes, to get ~15 IBU since the black patent would add some of its own in the form of astringency. Thoughts? :D
