A list of puns related to "McCalla, Alabama"
Spokeswoman Robin DeMonia released the following statement: "Earlier this week one of our residents was sent to the hospital for evaluation," DeMonia said. "We were then notified Wednesday afternoon that the residentβs COVID-19 test result was positive. The resident is still in the hospital at this time. After receiving the diagnosis, we immediately contacted the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Jefferson County Department of Health and began implementing additional protocols to help ensure the safety of our residents and employees. We started testing of all employees and residents for COVID-19 as soon as testing kits arrived on Thursday. While testing continues, protective protocols remain in place, and access to our facility is restricted in accordance with federal healthcare guidelines. Only visits that are medically necessary or related to hospice will be allowed, and then only under restricted conditions."
Publix purchased the former OfficeMax distribution center in McCalla, Alabama, in 2015. The new distribution center should be opening soon.
I assume McCalla Distribution will have at least a high velocity warehouse. Another warehouse is being built on the site.
I wonder if Publix will ever go to Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas? I seems like they want to move upwards like to Kentucky but not westward across the Gulf. I think it would be very popular in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. In my opinion.

I've seen a lot of posts asking "What deadlines haven't passed?" and "Who is still accepting applications??" so I went through and made a list.
You can sort colleges by their application deadlines using the CommonApp college search feature, but because there's a couple hundred that show up when you sort by colleges still accepting applications, I wanted to compile a list of the more notable ones.
And I will be crossing them out as the dates pass, for the world's last time zone.
Date Passed : Jan 6 - Yale
Date Passed : Jan 7 - Pitzer, Lehigh (extension),
Date Passed : Jan 8 - Wellesley (women's college), MIT (extension; awaiting proof),
Date Passed: Jan 10 - Bates, Elon (π), Williams, Cornell (extension), UChicago (extension; awaiting proof), Johns Hopkins (extension; awaiting proof), WashU (extension), Duke (extension; awaiting proof), Syracuse, Amherst, Claremont McKenna (extension; awaiting proof), Bowdoin (extension; awaiting proof),
Date Passed: Jan 11 - Davidson,
Date Passed: Jan 13 - UToronto (Canadian), Western Ivey AEO (Canadian),
Date Passed: Jan 15 - GWU, McGill (Canadian), UBC (Canadian), UNC Chapel Hill, American, Bentley (business-focused school), Bryn Mawr (women's college), Case Western, Champlain (π), Chapman, Clark, Colgate, Colorado College, Holy Cross, Connecticut College, Drexel (π), Gettysburg, Lafayette, Lewis & Clark (π), Loyola Marymount (π), Macalester, Oberlin, Pepperdine, Reed, Rensselaer, SeattleU (π), Skidmore, Smith, SMU, CU Boulder, UDenver (π), UPortland (π), Villanova, Arizona State (π°) (deadline for max merit scholarships), UMass Amherst (π), Purdue, Bucknell, NC State, UConn (π), F&M, SUNY Bing, RIT, Stony Brook, Kenyon, UOregon, Stevens, Haverford, Carleton, Grinnell, Fordham *~~
Sure we could probably go back 120 years to the kid whose death prompted President Theodore Roosevelt to threaten to outlaw the entire sport if it didn't change, but that would be too easy.
I'll start by nominating Alabama DL Marcell Dareus torpedoing his helmet directly into the throwing shoulder of Texas QB Colt McCoy in the 2009 National Championship.
We'll always be playing a bit of "What If?" when it comes to comparing the effects of injuries, but without Dareus' surgical strike a healthy McCoy very likely leads Texas to victory and the Alabama dynasty takes a different trajectory.
Perhaps more importantly, the power dynamic between the SEC and the rest of college football looks different without the Alabama juggernaut of the last 13 yearsβwhich in turn likely affects the conference realignments we've witnessed and the format of the College Football Playoff.
Virtually the entire college football landscape looks radically different if McCoy's shoulder doesn't go "dead" in a game that was shaping up to be Texas blowout. (Remember, the Longhorns still had a chance to win late in the game with a freshman Garrett Gilbert at quarterbackβthis was not the same Alabama that most fans have grown used to seeing.)
What are your nominees?
I'm going to post the first round here, and link to the full draft (9 trades and 4 rounds) for those who want to look at the entire thing. Jameson Williams' injury and finding out a few players have announced their return to college over the past several days has caused some last minute changes so if the player drafted under the Rounds sheets doesn't match the player in the "Draft Picks by Team" sheet, please let me know.
To see the full 4 rounds, click here!
Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Evan Neal, Alabama - This pick will depend on what Jacksonville does in the offseason. If they re-sign Cam Robinson, than drafting another tackle doesn't make sense and instead they will look at one of the top two edge rushers. However, if Robinson is allowed to leave and Taylor slides over to LT, the Jaguars will be in need of a new RT. Enter Neal, an absolute unit of a man who will use his strength to bully any defender who lines up across from him. Neal played both LT and RT in college, but projects best as a RT in the NFL.
Detroit Lions - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan - The Lions are in a position where they could can go BPA with all of their picks and no matter who they take, it will probably fill an area of need. Whether Hutchinson or Thibodeaux is the better player will be hotly debated leading up to the draft. With the #2 overall pick the Lions go with the local kid in Hutchinson. I believe he offers a little more versatility when it comes to where he can line up on the field, which will allow the Lions DC some more flexibility with his defensive packages.
Houston Texans - EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon - Houston will be happy with whomever is available at #3 because they can't go wrong with any of the players. Thibodeaux is an excellent pass rusher, and will be needed on a team that was one of the worst at sacking the QB in the NFL this past season. And he's not a one trick pony, Thibodeaux is also adept at stopping the run and has improved his tackling in open space.
New York Jets - S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame - The New York Jets need a lot of help on defense. Kyle Hamilton might just be the best player in this draft, and has enough talent and skill to offer the Jets a lot of versatility in their defensive schemes. If the Jets want Hamilton to play in the box, line up at nickel, rush the passer, or play deep coverage, he will do it and do

Hi! Relatively new Dead fan here. I got hooked last year with the starter SiriusXM subscription on my car. (Scruff McGruff was right, the first one was free.)
I thoroughly enjoy most all of the Dead catalog I've heard. For whatever reason, I enjoy more of the 79β87-ish stuff β Terrapin, Go to Heaven, In the Dark and associated shows from around that time frame. I even bought a few virtual show tickets to the Dead and Co shows this past fall.
That said, I really, really don't understand the appeal of Drums/Space. How can a band that produced such inventive hooks like Althea and Mississippi and Alabama Getaway also sink 25+ minutes of a live show into aimless noodling? Was this just to give Bob, Jerry, and Phil an opportunity to grab a drink during the show?
Apologies if this is sacrilegious or whatever but it's directionally opposed to all the other aspects of the dead I like. Wondering if I'm missing something, or if someone can help me rationalize this.
I joined this subreddit 3 months ago looking for a good book to read, and safe to say I found a few. Looking back on my kindle library, I've read 50 books since joining and I desperately need more. I still work from home so I have a lot of free time, and finding all of these recommendations has been great for me.
I'm going on a cruise for a week here soon, and I need several recommendations that I can download while I still have internet before I get on the ship. What better way to get good recommendations than to tell you what stories I've already read? So, here goes nothing. I'll try to keep it short unless I have a lot to say about any of the books. If you happen to disagree with any of my thoughts, I'd love to hear them too! Of course these are just my opinions, so nothing personal if I didn't like a book you did!
SPOILERS AHEAD!

New York Giants
Out: GM Dave Gettleman, OC Freddie Kitchens (Interim)
In: GM Dave Ziegler, OC Adam Stenavich
Fans have been unhappy with Gettleman for years, and it seems like ownership is finally catching up. The Maras also seem content with holding on to former Patriots ST Coach Joe Judge as their locker room leader. If that is the case, it makes sense to bring in somebody Judge is already familiar with in Ziegler, the current Patriots' Director of Player Personnel. The 44-year-old is a Patriot through and through. He was college teammates with Nick Caserio (who he replaced following Caserio's move to Houston) and Josh McDaniels (under whom he was a scout in Denver). He has cut his teeth under Belichick, spending the last 9 years in the scouting department in New England. In his first year without the "assistant" being tagged onto his job title, Ziegler added key free agents in Kendrick Bourne, Matt Judon, and Hunter Henry. He also oversaw one of the best draft classes in recent Patriot history with Mac Jones a favorite to win ROTY on top of inspiring play from Christian Barmore and Rhamondre Stevenson.
In addition to Ziegler, Packers' OL Coach Adam Stenavich joins as the new offensive coordinator. A bit of an unknown name, Stenavich is a former NFL player that has really made the most of his coaching opportunities. With Green Bay, he has overseen a revolving door of elite late round picks at OL, from Corey Linsley to David Bakhtiari to Yosh Nijman. In 2021, the Packers have seen countless injury along the line yet still have maintained an elite unit. Prior to Green Bay, Stenavich was on Shanahan's staff in San Francisco, coaching the likes of Joe Staley, Mike McGlinchey, and Weston Richburg. While Stenavich is unproven as a playcaller, he has worked under two of the best young offensive minds in the game. On top of his promising resume, his area of expertise is one the Giants desperately need help with. Other than Andrew Thomas, the Giants' OL has been an endless pile of poop covered garbage.
Chicago Bears
Out: GM Ryan Pace, HC Matt Nagy, OC Bill Lazor, DC Sean DeSai
In: GM Ed Dodds, HC Leslie Frazier, OC Darrell Bevell, DC Jeff Howard
Pace's tenure in Chicago has run its course. While many applauded him for having the onions to make a big move for Khalil

Have you or anyone you know gotten into trouble because of those cameras? What was it like? | I haven't personally, because I didn't really drive with them for long enough. However, some other drivers did and I was there while it happened. They are shown their camera feed (in front of other drivers), called out, yelled at, and told to fix whatever issues the camera's AI recognizes under threat of losing their jobs. |
^(the below is a reply to the above)
(break camera) "Problem solved, boss. I'm hitting the road..." | I wish. That would be tampering with company property and ground for firing, though. |
^(the below is another reply to the original answer)
I wonder if the people doing the shouting are recorded. Then their managers go through the video shouting at them for not shouting loud enough. How deep does this go?! | There are hundreds of cameras in each warehouse. HUNDREDS. Everything is filmed. |
^(the below is another reply to the original answer)
In what situation would multiple drivers stand around watching a video of someone else? Pretty confused about this. I drove for Amazon for a couple of months in between jobs - it was terrible, but never once would a manager waste valuable delivery time by huddling drivers up to watch a video. Seems weird | My DSP had group meetings, and often one driver was singled out and had his video aired to the class, so to speak. Each company is different, though... |
Have you seen or heard about Amazon workers trying to form an union? Any signs of Amazon trying to bust it before it happens? | Yes, Amazon will fire any driver or contractor who suggests a union. We're in the face of great odds, but greater odds have been beaten before. Alabama's warehouse fighting for unionization needs to become a national fight. |
Hey Vic, thanks for speaking out on these issues. How did you find the culture at Amazon when it came to your fellow employees and chain of command? Do you feel that the 'fear' trickles down from the top, and that each level of management was tasked with creating an atmosphere of extreme accountability / threat management etc? | No. The owner of my contractor was being screwed over just as much as I was as a driver. Give this a watch... Contractors are in the same boat as drivers, but there's nothing they can |
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
We all remember where we were when Boise State upset Oklahoma on the statue of liberty, when Appalachian State blocked the field goal, and of course when he had trouble with the snap. Upsets like Kansas over Texas fuel fanbases completely unrelated to both teams for entire seasons of mediocrity, because that is why we all love this sport. We want to see our teams win and we want to be reminded that anything can happen. This is going to be a close look at some of the more recent upsets that didn't quite happen, and left us all with blue blue balls. If people enjoy this I will be happy do a follow up. Lets start with 2021:
Oklahoma defeats Tulane 40-35 Oklahoma came into the game ranked 4th, and expected to make the playoffs. Tulane started the season with aspirations of making a bowl this season. Heading into the half the score was 37-14 Oklahoma, but after an eight play 80 yard drive by Tulane ending with 2:18 on the clock, Oklahoma was clinging to a 40-35 lead. Tulane recovered the onside kick, and the fairytale seemed so real, but Tulane went ahead and turned it over on downs, and failed to stop Oklahoma from running out the clock.
Oregon defeats Fresno State 31-24 This one was close throughout the game, Oregon jumped out to a 14 point lead, but Fresno quickly clawed their way back into the game and stayed there. After taking their first lead of the game with a field goal early in the fourth quarter Fresno gave up a quick field goal and subsequently a touchdown with 2:57 left on the clock. Haener wasn't quite ready to capture the magic and couldn't answer the score and Oregon ran out the clock.
Notre Dame defeats Florida State 41-38 OT Another scrappy game that was close throughout. It was sloppy and tough to tell if it was mutually good football that should have Florida State fans excited, or an ugly sloppy game that should have Notre Dame fans worried. To be honest I'm still not entirely sure what it actually was, but I do know that it was pure college football entertainment. After scoring late in the third quarter Notre Dame took a 38-20 lead and looked like they were finally pulling away. Florida State threw in fairytale comeback kid McKenzie Milton and put on a furious rally with an 18 point fourth quarter and with a field goal with less than a minute left pushed it into overtime. Once again the comeback was alive and the momentum was strong and the game was up for grabs. Instead Florida State stalled out and missed a field goal, w

Hi all. This weekend I traveled to McCalla Alabama for the Tannehill VolksJam 2021. It was a great event and here's a little video of all the great VWs that were there. Please like and subscribe. Thank you.
https://youtu.be/5GPrH2sJ8I8
Round 1:
Pick 4: Kyle Pitts (A)
Great player who looks everything as advertised when he went for 129 yards against Alabama and a team stacked with great prospects had absolutely no answer for him, consider him a TE or WR it doesnβt matter there isnβt 3 defensive NFL players that have the ability to go 1 on 1 with him once he figures everything out, exactly what you want from a top 5 pick these picks should always be a hit as the talent should be there.
Positional Draft Class PFF Rank (1/14)
Alternative picks: Ja'marr Chase, Micah Parsons.
Round 2:
Pick 40: Richie Grant (D-)
After trading down 5 places (gaining a 4th round pick) and missing out on Jevon Holland & Landon Dickerson they selected Richie Grant who has failed to make any impact on a struggling defense as per DC Pees he βDoesnβt know the playbookβ however he was out snapped in the final game (65 snaps vs 22 snaps) by Shawn Williams who was signed to the teams practice squad in week 2 so that is a huge area of concern if after an entire year he has not learnt the playbook yet while many others have been brought in and relied on. A top 50 pick should be an impact player as many of the players drafted around him have been great for the team, I wouldnβt rely on Grant being a long term player on the Falcons as this is a bad look as he will be turning 25 next year which is old for a Rookie so without being plug and play it is a horrible pick.
Positional Draft Class PFF Rank 28/42
Alternative picks: Trevon Moehrig, Asante Samuel Jr., Azeez Ojulari, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Creed Humphrey.
Round 3:
Pick 68: Jalen Mayfield (F)
One of the worst players in the NFL this year, the only guard who let 10+ Sacks and had a PFF Grade of 49.3 (ranked 83rd out of 90 Guards) a player who played RT in college but his physical limitations (Strength & Length) made it so his Pro Position would be in the interior as he would struggle with NFL Edge Rushers. His transition to Guard however could not have gone worse being a liability on offense in the passing game and the run game, he struggled anchoring against bull rushers, struggled against speed moves on the inside, his feet were slow, he had trouble with twists and blitzers often missing his assignment, he also regularly lost his hand speed and they would get lazy. As this shows he has everything to improve upon however with his inability to deal with the power of NFL players his physical limitations will make it that at

This is my Just For Fun Two Round Mock. I am not an expert like Gouge so lower your expectations. I may not give a blurb for each pick if I don't feel like it. This is Just For Fun so please be respectful with critiques in the comments.
1. Jags - Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon
With Cam Robinson potentially leaving in FA, they could consider Neal here. But the upside of pairing Thibs with Josh Allen is too high to pass up.
2. Lions - Aidan Hutchinson EDGE Michigan
The Lions get some much needed effort getting at the passer with the local kid.
3. TRADE: Broncos (from Texans) - Matt Corral QB Ole Miss
The Broncos trade a 2023 1st and maybe a 2nd too, not sure what it would take with the Houston Texans. They have a contender level roster in a loaded division and need to get ahead of Carolina and potential trade up candidates like WFT, Pitt, etc. to secure a QB. As for the Texans, they need to make up for the loss of capital that Bill O'Brien bled out of the organization. They have a ton of holes and can still get a top 10 player.
4. Jets - Kyle Hamilton S Notre Dame
Saleh will be salivating at the chance to scheme up a safety with as much versatility as Hamilton. They might have gone corner, and could still address it later, but their young CB's have played above expectation this season.
5. Giants - Evan Neal OT Alabama
What luck, this is a dream scenario for NY who needs serious help on the line of scrimmage.
6. Panthers - Ikem Ekwonu OT NC State
With Darnold already costing $19MM in 2022, the Panthers opt for the sensible choice and bolster a tattered offensive line rather than add another QB to the roster.
7. Giants - George Karlaftis EDGE Purdue
NY shores up the other side of the ball and adds some needed pass rush.
8. Falcons - Nakobe Dean LB Georgia
Dean's ability to attack the run and blitz the passer is an attractive option for a Falcons defense with only a handful of bright spots.
9. Texans (from Broncos) - Derek Stingley CB LSU
Texans land a potential difference maker in the secondary that they may have taken at 3 overall anyway. Add in some 2023 picks and you can't beat it.
10. Jets - David Ojabo EDGE Michigan
Five pass rushers in the Top 10 seems crazy, but with so many teams either not in a position or not in need of a QB, the edge class dries up quick. Ojabo is unpolished but Saleh should be able to develop and extract his potential as good or even better than just about an

1 Jacksonville Jaguars (Evan Neal OT, Alabama)
Jaguars could go with either EDGE or OL in this first spot, one of them protects the most important part of their franchise, the other does not. I love Thibs and think he will be a very good player wherever he lands but making sure Lawrence doesnβt go the luck route should be the #1 priority and I think Neal is the best OT in the draft.
2Β Detroit Lions (Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon)
I originally wanted Hutch to go here. He has a high motor, works very hard, and feels like the guy for a dan Campbell team, though I feel like Thibodeaux is a better player and will be the superstar for the lions on defense going forward. Though it would be fun to see the Michigan guy stay, he just doesn't seem as appealing as the star edge from Oregon.
3 Houston Texans (Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan)
The Texans should be absolutely jacked with this pick. They need help at nearly every position on the field and a future defensive star is exactly where you look for this pick. I understand the want to give the Texans a lineman with the projection of Ikem Ekwonu but i feel O-line is the position that the Texans need the least, especially with 2x Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil, who they traded their franchise for a few years ago
4 Carolina PanthersΒ (Ikem Ekwonu, OT, NC State)TRADE1
The Panthers need OT BAD. The Panthers are currently sitting just out of range of the 2 best tackles in the draft, and with a relatively low price to go from Charles Cross to Ikem Ekwonu, who many consider to be the best OT in the draft, it is an easy decision to make and never have to make again with your starting LT for the future. And yea I get that most mocks have them going with QBs but they are sticking to Darnold this year and aren't shy about it. He gets his final shot this year before becoming CFL legend Sam Darnold.
5 New York Giants (Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State)
I wanted to go with George Karlaftis here, but after looking through some comments on the Giants sub and taking into account the team's apparent hope to stay with Danny Dimes (for now at least), They need to finally get their other tackle. Andrew Thomas has had an alright-good year (from what Iβve heard) but the rest of that line is really bad, if they plan on giving Jones the same treatment I expect the panthers to give Darnold, gotta go with the best OL available (other than Linderbaum because no center should go 5th overall). I think this is a reach but
... keep reading on reddit β‘The Season's End is approaching pretty quickly, and as teams get slowly locked into their playoff positions, the time for fixing a team's needs is already upon their offices, and they turn to the college scheme, which is about to finish their season with a championship game. So, let's do this mock, where I'll use a combination of realistic scenarios and my pick choices for teams. Let's go.
1.1 - EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux - Oregon, New York Giants (VIA Jacksonville; 2022 1.1 and 2022 Third Rounder for NYG 1.08 and 1.05)
How do you even start to fix the Jaguars? Sure you'll be able to grab Kayvon Thibodeaux here, but that doesn't help what's going on the other side of the ball, with Trevor Lawrence, your generational QB getting thrown to the dogs. You take this chance to get two top 10 picks, instead of one where you can benefit from getting your team more talent off the bat. Now for the Giants: Thibodeaux is the dream. A 3-4 Chandler Jones-like Pass Rusher that can downright dominate and redefine a defensive front. Having Ojulari, Williams, Lawrence and Thibodeaux can justify the Giants trade up, and despite Gettleman being fairly incompetent, I'm sure they can throw some money at the Guards in this market to fill up that hole. (They still have their early 2nd rounder!)
Yeah I get Giants fans won't love this one, but there's not really a lot of places you can go with this team. I'd rather take a player like Kayvon and grab a stud on OL with the early second. Worth remembering that Gates IS coming back, and they can very well get an instant starter at RG in the thirties while plugging the hole at LG in free agency. That's how much the first overall pick is worth, and it may be worth it in the long run.
UPDATE: I'd probably prefer to go Neal and Linderbaum there. Phenomenal. :D
1.2 - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson - Michigan, Detroit Lions
The Lions invested a good share of their picks last year on OL/DL, but there's a slight hole of talent that remains at the EDGE Rusher position where Hutchinson would be perfect for them. He's an in-state talented pass rusher who's a fantastic leader on defence, with some phenomenal tape that shows him demolishing the passing game of opposing teams. Having him and Okwara on the line will be reminiscent of the Ojabo-Hutch duo which was the most dominant pair in this year's college football season.
1.3 - EDGE George Karlaftis - Purdue, Houston Texans
Three pass rushers in a row. OKAY. Truth is, Tytus Howa
... keep reading on reddit β‘My first mock draft of the season - with trades. Two rounds, with blurbs for each pick in the first.
Draft order from Tankathon.
JAX (1.01) - Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
The Jags go for the most talented edge in the class, with interest on Hutchinson cooling slightly after being largely shut down in the Orange Bowl against Georgia. Kayvon has an insane ceiling due to his physical tools, and Jacksonville will be salivating at Kayvon and Josh Allen coming off the edges and terrorising quarterbacks for years to come
DET (1.02) - Aiden Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan
Hutchinson has had an incredibly dominant season in his senior year, and the Lions just go best player available, after deciding to give Jarrod Goff another year as starting quarterback. The senior has dominated most of the defences he's played this year, and will be a asset and cornerstonein the Lions defence.
HOU (1.03) - Evan Neal
Houston decide to give Davis Mills another year starting after showing some promise down the stretch, and shore up protection around him by drafting Neal, and absolute monster who can play anywhere on the line. Neal will be a day 1 starter who will shore up a weak Houston o-line.
NYJ (1.04) - Derek Stingley Jr, CB, LSU
The Jets find themselves in a tough spot. The lack of promising QB's means it's hard to find a suitor to trade down, which would be the ideal option at this spot. The Jets end up picking Stingley a lot earlier than they would have liked. Ikem Okwonu provides an intriguing option, but the Jets opt to continue with the promising George Fant and talented Mekhi Becton at the tackles. Stingley has all the physical tools, but has been inconsistent after a standout freshman year, and will likely improve his stock after a stand-out combine. The Jets hope he can be a worthy investment and become a star outside cornerback.
NYG (1.05) - Ikem Okwonu, OT, NC State
In Andrew Thomas, the Giants have a nice, long term piece in the trenches. That, however, is where the positives end for New York's offensive line. The whole rest of the line has major question marks, and none of them really have deserved their spot. The Giants take the dynamic Okwonu to play opposite Thomas at Tackle, providing a solid pair to protect Jones for likely his last shot at taking the starting job.
CAR (1.06) - Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
Carolina also opt to improve their dreadful offensive line, with the strong tackle out of Mississippi State. With one of the
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey everyone,
This is my first published mock draft for the 2022 NFL Draft. I've provided an explanation for each pick. I'd love to get some constructive feedback on the picks. Some picks could be controversial, but I ask that you read the explanations before immediately criticizing it.
1.01 JAX Kayvon Thibodeaux, DE, Oregon
Jacksonville can go a few directions here, but I think an elite defensive end could change this defence for the better. Thibodeaux is an elite edge prospect and would be a great pick here.
1.02 DET Aidan Hutchinson, DE, Michigan
Hutchinson had a miraculous season at Michigan, and he stays in state with this pick. Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes prioritize the trenches, and Hutchinson is arguably the best player in this draft.
1.03 HOU Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
This was a more difficult pick than I thought it would be. Houston's roster is bare and needs a lot of work. Tunsil at left tackle and Neal at right tackle would immediately be an elite pairing.
1.04 NYJ George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue
Robert Saleh knows the value of having a deep defensive line. Karlaftis and Carl Lawson could become a great DE duo, with many solid DEs behind them.
1.05 NYG Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi
Unfortunately for Corral, he injured himself during his bowl game, but I don't think it will impact his draft slot. Daniel Jones has not worked out, and I would not blame the Giants for moving on.
1.06 CAR Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
Sam Darnold has not worked out. Assuming Matt Rhule is still the coach next year, he needs a dynamic playmaker at the QB position, and Pickett is an exciting QB prospect to watch.
1.07 NYJ (via SEA) Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU
The Jets drafted a handful of corners last year, and I think a lot of them are solid depth pieces, but not long-term starters. Stingley is an elite cornerback prospect who could change this defence on day one.
1.08 NYG (via CHI) Ikem Ekwonu, IOL, North Carolina State
Whoever is playing QB for the Giants in 2022 needs to be better protected. I think Ekwonu could play tackle, but he may be most valuable in the interior, and the Giants need help in the interior.
1.09 WSH Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
This may be a more controversial pick, as Washington has a few WRs already on the roster. Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel are under contract for 2022, but McLaurin will be looking for a new (expensive) contract. Cam Sims and Adam Humphries will look for a new
... keep reading on reddit β‘I saw another redditor do this, and I wanted to give my take on it.
1. JACKSONVILLE: Kayvon Thibodeaux - EDGE - Oregon
Jacksonville is such an embarrasment at this point, there are multiple ways you can go with this. But the obvious option is to go with best player first and fitting in Thibodeaux to their defense would be a good start. Kayvon is a former ESPN Top 100 player and he really showed out for the Ducks. His combination of burst off the line, using his powerful hands to throw defenders aside and his lateral mobility could pay dividends on Jacksonville's defense.
2. DETROIT: Aidan Hutchinson - EDGE - Michigan
Detroit has multiple things wrong with their team on both sides of the pigskin. I personally think they should go and bulk up the defense before they add touches to the offense. Adding Hutchinson, a very versatile, and quick for his size, 4-3 defensive end from The Mitten State. He was also a Heisman finalist which showed his true potential. Detroit should go with best player available here as well, adding to their already average defensive line.
3. HOUSTON: Evan Neal - OT - Alabama
Although Houston's O-line seems pretty sturdy, it wouldn't hurt to add some depth to it. They could also go QB here to replace Tyrod Taylor or Deshaun Watson. But I think Houston should wait it out and grab the former 5-star recruit from IMG Academy. His massive frame will fit in perfect on Houston's offensive line and he's also very dominant when it comes to run blocking.
4. NY JETS: Kyle Hamilton - S - Notre Dame
Ever since Jamal Adams left the Big Apple, the Jets secondary hasn't had that kind of success he brought. Going with the highest rated player in the draft, and a top tier safety prospect can go a long way for them. Let's face it the Jets are also in need of a lot of positions, but adding to their defensive back unit will give them a jolt of energy. Hamilton is so smooth and has such amazing range. Hamilton also has very nice hit power coming across the field. I personally think this will be a really good draft choice.
5. NY GIANTS: Ikem Ekonwu - OL - NC State
Let's face it the Giants are terrible, and their offensive line isn't helping them carry the rock. That's why they're one of the lowest in YPG, and TD's. They are also in desperate need of a young lineman to replace aging Nate Solder. This spot may be a little high for him, but Ikem Eknowu would fit in perfect with Joe Judge's offense. Ekonwu is an amazing

The Jaguars could utilize this pick to improve their offensive line with the likes of either Neal or Ekwonu, but with the likes of Hutchinson and Thibodeaux being the top prospects of this year's draft, it's a no-brainer to draft the best player available. Thibodeaux's agility will pair greatly with a Jaguars defense consisting of Josh Allen and company.
The hometown hero returns home once again. Despite the abysmal record, first-year head coach, Dan Campbell displayed his leadership, showing that the Lions have the potential to become a force to reckon with in the future. The Lions improved through the trenches in last year's draft, and continue to improve upon that with Hutchinson. He will be a great addition to an already-improved Lions defensive front.
Despite having Laremy Tunsil, the Texans need to prioritize having a solid offensive line. Ekwonu has catapulted up in the rankings in the past couple of weeks or so, as he proves to be an effective pass blocker.
The Jets choose to improve their cornerback room in Stingley Jr. At 6'1", he is an mobile cornerback with the ability to generate plenty of coverage.
The Giants are in need of serious offensive help. If the record wasn't enough, take a look at the QB sneak on their own end zone during the last game of the season. Neal will help them establish an offense that can at least protect the quarterback, and hopefully provide more than the bare minimum.
Taking a quarterback may be tempting, but it's likely that the Panthers will utilize free agency to grab their next quarterback while including Christian McCaffrey in a trade package (cough cough Deshaun Watson). Being a high riser in the draft, Cross has been able to significantly reduce hits on the quarterback while maintaining an impressive stat line this past season. Cross will help a highly inconsistent Panthers offense maintain stability, no matter who is under center.
Hamilton takes a slight dip in the draft, but this is not indicative of his talent in any way. The Giants pick up an extremely solid safety that will improve a Giants defense that

Iβm not a Giants fan but I love scouting and mock drafts for teams. The giants are projected to have 2 top 10 picks and can go in many different directions. Hereβs how this mock went
Evan Neal can play both LT and RT, I see the giants moving him to the right side and giving protection for Daniel Jones next year
Giants Oline gets more help by taking the best center in the class, now the giants have Thomas, Neal, and Linderbaum to help rebuild this offensive line
I think there is a very good chance Willis falls out of the first round. I also think he has potentially the highest ceiling in this bad QB class. Daniel Jones is probably not the answer so getting someone to sit behind him and develop might be a good idea
You could argue that the Giants should take an EDGE earlier. I wanted Karlaftis at 8 but went to the jets at 7. I think this is good value tho for Sanders. Giants absolutely need to address the pass rush
You could argue that Trey is the best TE in this class. With Engram scheduled to be a FA as well as 2 other TEs on the giants, they get a replacement with McBride
Damone Clark, LB LSU
Jack Campbell, LB Iowa
Boye Mafe, EDGE Minnesota
Reed Blankenship, S Middle Tennessee
The last 4 picks are BPA and addressing needs as well as depth. Let me know what you guys think of this potential draft haul. What do you like about it? What do you not like about it? What would you do differently?

I'm hoping to get some feedback on my mock, but not the typical feedback that you would see. FA and the combine will clear up a lot of questions about team needs and which players are actually better than others. I'm hoping to get feedback on A) why that player doesn't fit your team's scheme and B) what available player fits their scheme better.
After all of the pre-draft stuff is said and done, I think Thibs will be the clear #1 pick. Neal likely won't test well enough athletically to warrant the first pick, and Hutchinson might not have the power attributes necessary to take over the top pick. Bad teams need to start building in the trenches if they have their QB squared away (looks at JAX, CHI, & NYJ compared to NE) and this is a great start.
The next best EDGE in the draft is a big position of need. Too early for a QB in a bad class, and Goff is serviceable enough to get you through another season. Campbell seems like a fun enough coach to attract some solid FAs, so they can grab BPA without having to reach for a specific position. Drafting a
hometown kid is also a plus.
They have so many needs, so they grab a guy who has been an elite prospect since high school. Injuries may be concerning for him, but at this point he might be BPA (although Hamilton is also intriguing, but he plays a less valuable position). Speaking of positional value, Mills has looked good enough to warrant another season and no QBs this year are good enough to warrant a trade up to this position. Teams may be looking to trade up to about the 10th pick or so while targeting Pickett or Corral.
Maybe the first surprise of the draft. Why him over Neal at this spot? I think that he will test better than Neal athletically and will be more of a fit for the offense that LaFleur will try to run. If they choose to roll with Becton at LT, then Icky can play the right side at either the RT or RG spot. Ideally, they'd move Becton for another pick (late 1st?) since he doesn't fit their scheme as well, and play Icky at LT.
Neal falls to NYG here and immediately becomes an elite run-blocking RT. Andrew Thomas has shown *just* enough to hold down the starting spot. Now they just need to fix the rest of their OL.
After the draft falls this way and th
