A list of puns related to "Jefferson County, Alabama"
Hi, I havenβt seen a post like this before so hereβs a detailed description of what I did to change my gender marker in Alabama (Jefferson county specifically, but I think itβs the same process statewide), how long it took, and any other relevant info. This is all in 2021. I got my name changed in June 2020, which is required to change your marker.
Initially I tried looking up what forms/letters I needed for the gender marker change, but I couldnβt really find anything so my therapist told me to get into contact with Maynard Cooper, their firm offers pro bono assistance with the Alabama marker change. I sent two emails to Cynthia Lamar-Hart herself in January, but donβt do that because sheβs way too busy to handle individual cases like that herself.
I got busy with school so I didnβt do anything until late March, which is when I emailed her (former) assistant Carmen Chambers, who directed me to the lady I was ACTUALLY supposed to be emailing, Jessica Trotter. They sent me a list of questions to complete as a conflict check, which I sent back to them. I also asked my hormone provider at the time (Queermed) for a vaguely worded letter saying Iβve had βclinical treatment changing [my] genderβ. I got that in the mail a few days later.
A few weeks later in early April, Ms. Trotter emailed me back to say I had cleared the conflict check, and also sent me a secure link to submit scans of my birth certificate, driverβs license, and name change order. They need those documents to draft the HIPAA authorization form and petition to amend a vital record. This wasnβt the start of my case, however, it was just to assist whoever got assigned to my case in the future. They have a pretty big waitlist as of now, but theyβre getting back to people as fast as they can.
In late June I was finally assigned an attorney from the pro bono clinic, Maverick Flowers. He sent me a HIPAA authorization form and a shipping label to send it back to him. I got it signed and notarized the next day, around $12 including the envelope I bought for it, and sent it for free. He also said to send any authorized copies of the name change order if I had them, but if I didnβt he could request them directly from the court (I didnβt have any copies). Three days later he asked for my physicianβs letter, which he would accept by email or regular mail; I emailed a scan to him.
I didnβt hear back from them until August 3, when Mr. Flowers emailed me confirming that he had gotten my HIPAA form, an

Linemen electrocuted. Not sure how accidents like this happen.
A girl was found dead in a barrel around that time, and Iβm trying to find the information on it but I donβt remember the exact time it happened. To help, it could have been in the city Pinson, or anywhere around the Birmingham area that she was found. After research in the comments, this is most likely NOT a Jane Doe
Im really looking for something in the pinson/Tarrant/bham area. Where the perpetrator might have taken a barrel from an industrial facility.
I've been tracking the data for several days now, and it's telling an interesting story, albeit a slightly sunny one. The spread in Alabama is still growing (although fluctuating day to day). From yesterday to today, it increased 14.3%, or 119 people. In the last two weeks, it's ranged as high as 79.5% on 3/25 and as low as 9.2% on 3/30.
However, in Jefferson County, where we have 1/4 of all cases in the state, the rate of confirmed spread is significantly less. Today, it was 3.6%. The day before, it was 3.3%. Granted, there have been significant jumps along the way, Sunday for example. But overall, the rate of spread where it should be the worst appears to be lessening.
In this last cycle, it took both Jeffco and Alabama 6 days to double. Prior to that, it was doubling every 2-3 days.
I recognize that this is an incomplete data story because there are so many cases that are unconfirmed. However, it should establish a trend line that reflects the overall trend in the state.

FYI: I'm trying to take a reading between 8 and 10 am every morning to be consistent.
Caveat: I'm not a data scientist. Just a guy who understand how to use data and statistics. There's plenty more nerding out that's possible to create a far better data picture.
