Recognize this man? That's because he has recurring roles in all 3 sitcoms that Mike has created. He also is the host of The Good Place: The Podcast and also Brooklyn nine-nine- The Podcast. He's honestly so great and I think he's underrated. If you haven't listened to those podcasts, they are very good! He's a great actor, host, and all around human.

That man is a treasure and should be treated as such.
For those of you who don’t know, he plays the director of the bad place in NBC’s, The Good Place, as well as Kevin Cozner is Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
I’m doing a rewatch (well I guess I’m always rewatching lol) and in Season 2, Episode 53 Spokesman Scandal, he plays the TV narrator who is detailing what Kyle the Cloud did.
It’s not a huge role or anything, but it’s cool that someone well known from two other NBC shows also was in Superstore.
You never see his face, but if you listen you can tell, and I looked it up and he’s also on IMDb for that episode.
- Terry was the first to be approached. Even before the show had a title or anything solid as to who would be the lead actors. He had multiple offers at that time, but came on board quickly a few days later, when Dan Goor told him that they named the character "Terry".
- Jake was supposed to be the new one at the precinct. The cold open in the pilot was supposed to be Jake solving a case, and the accompanying detective getting into a fight with him on some stupid thing. Then Jake would be transferred to the 99. The gag was supposed to be that the 99th precinct was so outside the city, that in a map describing all the precincts in New York, the 99th was under the frame. All that was scrapped because people at the precinct wouldn't have liked the new guy with a smartass attitude.
- Jason Mantzoukas (aka Pimento) also auditioned for Charles Boyle. (The type of character Boyle would be wasn't finalised till then).
- Hitchcock and Scully are nicknamed "the snipers" and have a lot of respect in the production team, because of their ability to deliver their one-liners or small pieces of dialogue with the flow of the ongoing scene, despite being usually detached from it.
- At the table read for the Pilot, Melissa and Stephanie were sure that one of them was gonna get sent out (because one usually never sees two Latina women in a single cast), that's why they tried to appear as distinct and unique as possible. Stephanie went with her naturally wavy hair, and Melissa straightened her hair. The producers kept both of them, and their respective looks.
- The Boyle-Rosa romance in Season 1 was closed out pretty fast because the writers felt that a guy like Boyle (who doesn't take no for an answer) chasing after an independent woman like Rosa wouldn't give a great look in a workplace comedy.
- The Boyle-Gina romance was tested mainly to flesh out the characters by letting the storyline answer the questions "Why doesn't Gina leave, when she clearly doesn't want to be in this relationship?" and "What exactly does Boyle see in Gina to continue to be in the relationship?"
- The Rosa-Marcus storyline was just a way to display some of the vulnerabilities and emotional angles of Rosa, and to build a little on her dynamic with Holt. (The writers agreed that Marcus was brought in as a disposable character.)
- According to the writers (and Melissa), although Amy is one of the primary targets of Gina's shenanigans, she doesn't mind any of that because she's in a great headspace
If you read the books, the casting is hilarious and perfect.
Uh oh! It looks like actor extraordinaire Marc Evan Jackson from The Thrilling Adventure Hour has his second visit to Comedy Bang! Bang! cut short as a portal appears in the Earwolf studio and has transported some of the characters from The Thrilling Adventure into the real world. "Doing something good" can mean a lot of things too, I suppose.
It can mean supporting a charity, taking a break to "treat yo'self," or anything in between.
But I do hope it more often involves doing something good with respect to others.
Whether at the holidays or beyond, on an everyday basis, from now until Jeremy Bearimy, ask yourself:
"Am I saying what I'm saying, or doing what I'm doing, to make the other person look or feel good?
.. or am I saying or doing it to make myself seem smart, or bigger, or strong, or right?"
Ask yourself if it needs saying.
Ask yourself if it adds value to the conversation, or the universe.
If it's kind. If it's good.
If it's not? Maybe don't say it.
It's hard, and you'll fail.
I failed at this today, and it's still morning.
But the point is to try, right?
The point is to try.
The reason is friends.
And we can all strive to be a little bit better today, than we were yesterday.
We can do that.
(.. to be fair, I only think that because it's true, and I'm right. ... and very strong and smart.)
You.
You are what's good.
You are a part of this weird world of the smartest, dumbest show on television, and we are grateful for you.
Now, go do something.. good.
I've been thoroughly enjoying listening to the official show podcast this summer. Marc Evan Jackson has done a phenomenal job of hosting. He has a great rapport and banter with the guests on his show, yet maintains a high degree of professionalism. And I love that he spends just as much (if not more) time interviewing the crew of the show as he does the cast. It really has helped me appreciate all of the effort that goes into this show, and helped me gain some insight into what all of those job titles you see in the credits actually mean.
I don't know what the future of this podcast holds as we approach Season 3, but I hope that we will continue to get regular updates, and possibly even a few Q&A episodes, to give the listeners a chance to write in.
