A list of puns related to "Mallet finger"
Iβve been running a program I cobbled together of TGUs, swings, goblet squats and rows but Iβve broken a finger and, after adapting to doing the program with a splinted finger for a few weeks, it looks like I need surgery and will have pins sticking out of my pinky for ~4 weeks. I think the movements Iβm doing are pretty safe, Iβd be more worried about cleaning or snatching and irritating the recovering phalanges, but since Iβve never done this before I thought Iβd ask if anybody has experience with a similar situation.

I have been diagnosed with mallet finger (extensor tendon damage with avulsion fracture). The injury happened and it took a week for me to see the doctor and get diagnosed. I am now a week after that and I have spent the last week in a stax splint. I am currently waiting to hear from a surgeon to see if the splint is enough. Over the past few days I have been having some throbbing and tingling in the finger, should I be waiting to see the surgeon or is this something I should be pushing for an appointment earlier? Thank you
I am a 25 y/o female living with post-traumatic arthritis in my DIP joint of the left index finger. I had 2 pins put in after an automobile accident in August 2017 & it destroyed my joint & left me with deformity. Iβve seen two surgeons - one suggested to βlearn to live with itβ & the other, who is a well-accredited specialist, wants to re-pin my finger & remove the arthritic bone in order to treat post-traumatic arthritis in my DIP joint of the left index finger - but even he is unsure of the outcome, & suggests 50/50 successful/failure rate.
I am looking for anyone who has an opinion on mallet injuries. On my worst days, my pain is 8/10, & my finger constantly βclicksβ. The deformity in the joint also causes me problems because my skin is constantly red in that area & being left-handed also causes me a lot of problems with this injury.
Should I consider having a pin put back in the joint & have a βcheilectomyβ performed? Or learn to live with it?
Anyone have any good recs for above? Iβm looking for something that supports my DIP joint. I have hyperhidrosis (sweaty hands) so usually when I use tape, it rarely stays on. Havenβt really had experience using finger sleeves in the past.

So i injured my middle finger back in early march after jamming it while playing basketball. After 2-3 weeks the pain went down drastically. I can use my finger for most daily activities. However, it is always curled at the tip of my finger, i canβt straighten the tip on my own, i cant curl my finger with the rest of my fingers to make a fist all the way, it is very stiff, and there is still very noticeable pain if i apply moderate pressure on it.
At first I thought it was a mild sprain that would heal on itβs own. After waiting all this time and still not being healed i decided to do some research and finally discovered the condition called mallet finger.
Have i waited too long? Can it still be fixed or is it too late? Which type of doctor should i see?
Any advice is welcomed and appreciated!!
i injured my pinky finger. about 4 weeks ago i used split for the first week but i removed it. i heard that i cant bend it or else the healing process will stop..any tips.. right now im using my splint again. but i can feel much better now.
Female 47 years old 5β1 feet 108 pounds CA Duration 2 months History none Location middle right finger. No medications I couple months ago my middle finger bent inexplicably while doing something mellow. It barely hurt, wouldnβt straighten, and was instantly swollen. I seemed like a textbook case. My doctor said to wear the splint for two months. I took it off this week but am still wearing it when Iβm being active to be safe. Itβs been concerningly swollen and red the entire time but I figured it was the splint irritating my skin. Well I havenβt worn the splint for two days now and wow itβs swollen and red. And the superior lateral part of my finger where the damage occurred isnβt only red and swollen. Itβs hard. It seems odd and not sure what to make of it. Iβll make an appt with my doc next week if it does not calm down. Could this be something other than a Mallet deformation or do I simply need to wait? To be clear it still does not hurt at all. Iβm making no effort to bend it as I feel like letting it chill as long as possible is ideal. I donβt feel like getting an operation from damaging it again.
Anyone ever have to deal with this? I got it by catching an under inflated football wrong (insert Tom Brady jokes here). I've already been out for a month and got at least 5 more weeks to go. Gonna try to jerry rig a top splint so I can at least practice w/o birls ..
So last week I severed the tendon on the tip of my ring finger while blocking. The prognosis is 6-8 weeks of recovery. In the mean time Iβd like to find other things to keep my skills sharp that have no contact with a Volleyball. Any suggestions?
I have recently injured my middle finger on my right hand (drawing hand) in a completely non-archery related way. It has been diagnosed as mallet finger, and basically i managed to tear the extensor tendon in the top joint, and currently cannot straighten my finger at all. I am currently wearing a stack splint which i need to keep on for 8 weeks, then have months of physio to get movement back in the finger. I have also been warned in some cases there may be permanent damage whereby i may never be able to fully extend the finger.
I have started to worry now about going back to archery, i shoot recurve 40lb limbs; and i was curious if any redditors here have experienced the same injury - or know someone who has - and how it affected them shooting after recovery?
Hi all, today me and my friends were straightening our fingers and they noticed my fingers didnβt straighten. My fingers look like mallet fingers but I donβt think itβs as bad.

Age: 39 Sex: Male Height: 6ft. Weight: 175lbs. Jammed finger two days ago, splint put on at hospital yesterday.
Two days ago I jammed my finger causing mallet finger. I felt absolutely no pain, the tip just kinda of hung there. I grabbed a splint from the drugstore to keep it straight until I could get it checked out.
I went to the walk in clinic who in turn sent me to the hospital to get it x-rayed. It turns out it is indeed mallet finger. The doctor on duty (who wasn't very familiar with mallet finger) cut a splint, bent it and put it on the topside of my finger, pushing on the joint so the tip stays up and wrapped it up. He instructed me to keep it on until I see a hand specialist on Friday.
A few hours after I left the hospital, my finger began throbbing with excruciating pain. Since then, it has been almost a cycle of throbbing pain (you can clearly feel my pulse under the wrapping) for about 20 minutes, 5 minutes of it feeling okay and then back to throbbing. It woke me up most of the night last night as well.
All the splints I've seen online shows the tip being held up from the underside. I feel like it's on incorrectly, causing so much discomfort.
I've taken Tylenol and Aleve to try and lower the pain but it hasn't helped.
Is there a doctor out there that can give me advice? Does the splint seem proper for treatment or did the doctor put it on on the wrong side? Is the pain normal considering I went a full night of feeling no pain whatsoever with a store bought splint on?
Please help! The pain is seriously excruciating.
