Tony Clark, executive director of the MLBPA, is asking the MLB to consider pulling the All-Star game out of Georgia.
Major League Baseball opted to transfer this year's All-Star game away from Atlanta, Georgia. The reasoning given was that it was a stand against Georgia's governor signing Senate Bill 202 into law. The claims circulating in the media are that the law is a form of voter suppression.
Nothing in this situation makes any sense to me, and I find it to be completely ridiculous.
First, even if SB202 does contain voter suppression, that doesn't have jack shite to do with baseball. Why should MLB punish Georgians and Braves fans because of something their government did? It's like punishing the entire class over the misbehavior of just one or two bad students.
Second, I'm not even convinced that SB202 is qualifiable as "voter suppression." I'm especially open to changing my mind on this second point because I don't know diddly squat about politics or law. However, most of the arguments I've heard online, so far, have been disappointing...
I looked through SB202 and didn't find anything that stood out to me as being seriously problematic. Perhaps I missed something, though. Maybe someone could explain to me a) why SB202 is in fact qualifiable as "voter suppression," and b) why it should have anything to do with baseball.
Politics is a topic that I avoid like the plague because the sheer nonsense of it all frustrates me to no end. Nevertheless, thanks for hearing me out on this one. I await to be better informed.

EDIT: A great [New York Times article](https://www.nytim
... keep reading on reddit β‘Georgia flipped the Senate to Democrats, but that isn't enough. It never is for progressives.
