A list of puns related to "Macbeth (character)"
I am analyzing the play and its structure and construction and I am wondering how I should think about this particular character. All others are fairly clear - Macbeth is leading, Duncan, Banquo, Malcolm, Macduff, Ross are supporting. But thinking about Lady Macbeth - what is she?!
Personally mine are Banquo and Siward.
Siward because he is Earl of Northumbria and it is a well known fact that Northumbria is the best kingdom.
Banquo because he is always loyal even when he figured out MacBeth has murdered Duncan.
Any help would be really appreciated
I have written a bit on the topic but can't seem to get much matter for it
A play on words.
He feels like the long awaited breath of fresh air the MCU. I hope he stays for a long time. As a dark unworthy Captain America, or as US Agent or as Super Patriot. Doesn't matter. I just want him to stay for a long time.
He's basically a real life soldier from our would dropped into the the world of MCU.
He feels very very real. Like he actually exists. Like an actual human being, not just a comic book character.
Hello tomt!
This interaction popped into my head and I can't place it for the life of me.
Two characters are talking and one of them, who I think is British, says they're doing a version of Macbeth set in Chicago and the other character makes a quick sarcastic comment about it being original.
In my head, the British man might be John Oliver but I'm pretty positive it's not in Community. I think it's just someone with the same British dialect but I'm not sure. There is a chance he's not British at all.
It's got to be no earlier than 2005, maybe, but that's mostly a guess.
Thank you in advance!
My English is on the 21st, my very first mock, so no I am not cramming :)
Simplicity and dramatic. Nice break from the A24 formula, IMO.
I slept (literally and figuratively) on Shakespeare back in HS but now Iβm getting into it as part of a quarter-life crisis. :-)

Doing another Shakespeare/Taylor Swift essay!
Macbeth/My Tears Ricochet comparison
I've been thinking this for a while. "My Tears Ricochet" by Taylor Swift might be very similar (perhaps even inspired) by Macbeth by William Shakespeare? I generally see "My Tears Ricochet" as an analogy to the Scott Borchetta fiasco and the whole masters controversy (and that's the generally accepted theory), and I also find that many Taylor Swift fans think this is a very well-written song lyrically.
In βMy Tears Ricochetβ, the betrayal of Scott Borchetta had affected Taylor Swift so deeply it was akin to dying. However, she has and will continue to haunt Borchetta for the rest of his life. (Perhaps the ghost will dissipate if he attempts a redemption equals death, but thatβs for a part 2).
The funeral imagery permeates the entire song, making for a literary masterpiece with such lurid detail. Comparisons of the masters (Taylor Swiftβs lifeβs work) to a literal life seem to be where the spirit meets the boneβas her legacy is as stake.
In Macbeth, the titular character (Macbeth) and Banquo gain great heroism in a war in Scotland. However, Macbeth gets a prophecy from the three witches that he will become king of Scotland even though Duncan is the current king. Macbeth plots to kill Duncan, pin it on Duncan's guards, and become king. This is the first betrayal. More relevant to My Tears Ricochet is Macbeth's betrayal of Banquo. This happens since the prophecy also says Banquo's sons will be kings, and Macbeth is scared of losing power, so he sends assassins after Banquo and his sons. (Banquo's son Fleance escapes, but Banquo is killed in the process.) Note that Banquo had previously supported Macbeth throughout the war and was killed out of paranoia.
Banquo's ghost haunts Macbeth shortly afterwards, very similarly to what happened to the narrator in βMy Tears Ricochetβ.
"The Ghost of Banquo enters, and sits in Macbeth's place."
Macbeth is surprised by this, and says, "If charnel-houses and our graves must send/Those that we bury back, our monuments/Shall be the maws of kites."
In βMy Tears Ricochetβ, "And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed."
The narrator is dead, but haunts the betrayer, who is at the wake, cursing her name, in a very similar situation that Banquo is in.
βYou know I didn't want to have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene/ You wear the same jewels that I gave you As you bury meβ
