Hi there. I just purchased the Google Chromecast with Google TV.
I am experiencing a odd issue. I have plenty of speed on my device, when speed testing, downloading of apps ect... .... but when I stream, i only get between 3 to 7/8-ish mb/s, wich results in a lot of stuttering. Regardless of the apps used.
I have downloaded the newest update, but that doesn't sole the issue.
Anyone with same problems, and does anyone have a fix?
The Chromecast is imported, so I don't have the option to order the wired adaptor, sadly.
When using stream directly on my TV, or via my Xbox, i don't have the cap on the streaming, so it's definitely related to the Chromecast itself.
Like the title says.
What turned me on to this oddity was that I recently noticed that my 970 Pro boot drive was already up to 6.7~ TBW despite my rig being only around a year-and-a-half old -- and I'm not a streamer, content creator, graphic designer, or movie editor, etc.
So, I let HWiNFO64 run while using my computer, and that's when I noticed the spike in write activity while watching Twitch TV streams. So, I opened up ResMon, and, sure enough, there were dozens of write disk activities, each one small on its own, but totaling up to around 3~ MB/sec being written.
What's strange is, each write activity belongs to "System" (PID - 4), but they're all Mozilla Firefox AppData cache entries.
Now, before someone does an r/theydidthemath and explains how, even at 50 GB/day, my 970 Pro will probably outlive all of my other computer components, I know that modern SSDs are quite durable. But, this sort of constant write activity just seems excessive and unwarranted.
So, any help?
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!
Edit to add: The write activities stop, and then depopulate from ResMon over the course of a a few seconds, as soon as I close out any tabs with Twitch streams in them. Haven't observed this behavior with any other websites I visit.
Small server with Some Canadian TV and Movies. Don't have really fast internet but I would still like to test out my 2 servers if any are interested. DM me.
