A list of puns related to "Louis the Pious"
~Huldrych Zwingli, Confession to King Francis I.
This is a terrible build. Just awful. However, I think it would be hilarious to play, save for the armor donning/doffing part. I'll get to that.
Galaren the Pleasant is the definition of a gentle giant, a goliath life cleric that aims to protect and heal all the things, in service to Helm. A towering figure, clad in shining armor, always ready to place himself and his shield between the innocent and evil, careful to only raise his weapon when all options of peace have been exhausted. He is even careful to not step on nature's beauty, even in battle. He is the ultimate goody two shoes pious holy man. Until... well, Galaren has a rather ill temper when it comes to certain provocations. This is when his berserker barbarian takes over, he drops his shield and holy mace, rips off his armor, and goes into full bat shit crazy rage mode. He can't control himself while raging, though he remembers all of it, beating everything to a pulp. He even ate part of a guy once. He always comes out of this rage exhausted and full of guilt, promising himself and his god that he will stay reserved and this won't happen again, but it does keep happening, more vicious and horrid each time.
I have him at level 10 (making back ups for my current group), starting 14+2/12/13+1/10/14/10, and bumping STR and WIS through ASIs for +2 each, ultimately am 18/12/14/10/16/10, with 5 levels each in cleric (life) and barbarian (berserker). I started cleric because I see him as being a holyman with an anger issue.
This is a silly build, but it all started with the thought of a guy getting pissed off and tearing his armor off to fight in skivvies. He would have two character sheets for fighting, one in armor, and one out of it and raging. The issue is the armor, heavy armor fits the image but takes way too long to put on and take off. RAW I don't know of a way to make this actually work in a fight, but the thought of a man basically hulking out and tearing off his superior defenses to go ape shit seems hilarious to me.
Just wanted to share, open to any ideas on the armor or anything else. Cheers!
I am a believing, Mass-every-week Catholic who tries to live his faith. (I'm also a sinner in desperate need of God's grace.) And I admit I'm a little torn about unsubbing from r/Catholicism, as a forum for believers to support one another in a time of eroding faith seems like a positive thing.
But the vibe I get there too often left me uncomfortable. At least in my perception not about a collective encouraging but more, "Look how I go beyond most Catholics to do this."
To sum up, basically, Matthew Chapter 6. https://biblehub.com/matthew/6-1.htm
I see there are a lot of novels about Malekith, Sigmar, Nagash, etc. But are there any novels or comic books about Magnus the Pious (fantasy not 40k) or featuring him?
Did people go to the temples for reasons other than big feast days and to ask/thank the gods for a favor? What would happen at a temple? Just watch an animal be sacrificed?
Did people make a point of saying daily prayers like people in Abrahamic religions do? Did the Romans have anything like meditation? Other personal devotions and religious practices?
