A list of puns related to "Literature review"
Abstract: PMDD is a mood disorder that affects approximately 3% of menstruating women in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. The symptoms of PMDD have significant overlap with the symptoms of hypocalcemia. A literature review shows that women with PMDD have significantly lower urine calcium values in the luteal phase as well as lower plasma levels of 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D and IGF-1. These lower calciotropic hormone values lead to impaired bone calcium and access and lower intestinal absorption. Testing these values would allow clinicians to monitor these micronutrient deficiencies and the effectiveness of supplementation in their patients.
I think we all know what PMDD is so I'm going to skip some of the introduction.
Introduction:
There is significant symptom overlap between PMDD and hypocalcemia which begs the question of whether PMDD causes hypocalcemia or if the symptoms of PMDD are exacerbated by an underlying calcium deficiency. Monitoring calcium levels in women with PMDD and addressing low levels could provide a simple, low-cost intervention that may improve the symptomology of women with PMDD.
PMDD: Depression (sadness, lethargy, social isolation, decreased motivation), Anxiety (insomnia, paresthesia), Fatigue, Irritability, Labile mood, Food cravings, Edema, Bloating, Abdominal cramps, Headache, Generalized aches and pain
Hypocalcemia: Depression, Anxiety, Paresthesia, Fatigue, Impaired memory, Impaired intellectual capacity, Personality disturbances, Neuromuscular irritability, Muscle cramps, Tetany
The average adult human body contains around 1000 grams of calcium, 99% of which is in the form of hydroxyapatite and is located in the skeleton. One percent of calcium is found in the extracellular fluid. In blood 50% of this calcium is ionized and measurable while 40% is protein bound and 10% is complexed with citrate and phosphate. Diet is our only source of calcium, and the only loss of calcium is excretion in the urine. Vitamin D and parathyroid hormone (PTH) are the most important up-regulators. While calcitonin is the most important down-regulator. Vitamin D is a transcription factor that increases intestinal absorption. PTH increases renal tubule reabsorption and hydroxylation of 25(OH) vitamin D to the active form 1,25 (OH)2 Vitamin D as well as increasing calcium levels by stimulating osteoclast activity and bone breakdown. 12
The menstrual cycle is divided into two primary phases; the follicular phase which starts on the first da

I'm doing research over a topic which after 3 months of paper review it seems that it has been covered quite a lot, inside and outside. What do I do at this point? Finish the research an conclude my findings, with the mention that this is a starting point for another researching Y? Or what else?
**Note that I'm in the first year of PhD, maybe I'm not focused enough or just plain stupid, It may be more than possible that indeed there are gaps which I didn't manage to discover, but well, this is it for now.
**I was very enthusiastic at first with my hypothesis, but then I've got over so many complete paperworks which discussed all the matters, brought many insights that I was never aware until now, and it feels like that everything I've wrote at this moment has been already captured in the other papers, i just feel that I might need to find another topic, but what do I do with all the work I've done until now?
I'm starting to question everything, where my life is going, why I am doing this and that... :))
Hello ,
I've developed after my PhD a first version of an algorithm to automatically generate a literature review : https://www.naimai.fr and many remarks were given. I just deployed a new version with much more papers and I'll be thankful if you have any remarks about it :)
More about the new version here : https://yaassinekaddi.medium.com/scientific-literature-generation-ii-73628aebd4fb
Hopefully that could be useful for the PhDs (and the non PhDs) !

Hi all,
I wonder what kind of literature review strategies have worked the best for you guys? Also, what kind of tools/software come handy when it comes to reviewing literature?
My area of interest: Environmental sustainability and Engineering.
Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated! :)
Many thanks! K0313
I'm a scientist, I do research, so I did research. Here's what you can do right now to reduce your exposure to COVID in the coming weeks.
Buy em, borrow em, [redacted] em, whatever you gotta do. Do this TODAY, and get some for your friends if you can. Text and ask them if they want any. These are the most effective masks, according to the literature.
>>Following 8 h cumulative exposure at 1 m, mask use reduced fomite-mediated infection risk by 62% (cloth mask: 0.10 risk, 5th β 95th percentile: [0.03β0.25]), 63% (surgical mask: 0.09 risk, 5th β 95th percentile: [0.03β0.25]), 88% (double masking [surgical followed by cloth]: 0.03 risk, 5th β 95th percentile: [0.005β0.15]), and 99% (N95 respirator: 0.003 risk, 5th β 95th percentile: [0.001β0.008]), relative to no mask use.
I should cite more papers, but they're in full accord on this, trust me
But they're expensive and scarce. So, next, I did some review on reusing N95 / KN95's. So far, I'm seeing:
The filter in each is good for (will remain structurally intact enough to function for) approximately 150 hours of use, 200 max
Do NOT wash with soap and water, as this compromises the electrostatic filter
Any type of mask can be 'sterilized' by leaving it in a brown paper bag for 3 days. You can also add a silica gel ["DO NOT EAT"] packet in the bag to speed up the drying process.
Masks can be sterilized by immersing in boiling water for 5 minutes
Baking them at 70C (170F) for 30 minutes also destroys the virus This method requires that the masks not be touching the sides of the oven or wire rack

>>N95 Masks Can be Boiled for 5 Min >>Masks will retain 92.4% FE after boiling. The elastic band should not be immersed in boiling water. Do not stir while boiling to avoid disturbing the physical structure of the mask. Charge loss is insignificant, and wet masks do not decrease FE of the filtering layer. Air-drying masks is recommended.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi there, I am a Ph.D. candidate and I have been out of track these last two years and I am trying to get back. I have finished the first chapter RQ, RO PS..etc all are done.. but I am facing a serious problem structuring my LR. for LR, I really don't know how to start, and what to start with. How may I at least write the table of content of LR so I can follow it?
My second biggest challenge is that I don't know in which part of the literature should I use the theory that I have chosen?
I would be very thankful if I can get some tips or even personal help just for few times till I get on track again.

Thanks in advance.
I'm about to do it myself, but as it will take at least a day i wonder if someone has gone deep into the base of what we actually know about people like us and why living feels so different to us compared to average person?
Some points i would like to address:
Looking for some dissertation ideas! Ideally looking to study something along the lines of organisational culture.
Hi, I'm applying to sociology and geography departments, and I'm done with nearly all my applications. My research interests are broadly in everyday state-citizen relations, bureaucracy and technology uptake in governance. This thematic is broadly researched across a variety of disciplines - development economics, political science, political sociology, political anthropology and human geography. I decided to apply to sociology and geography departments because of their broader methodological toolkit and expertise in the kinds of techniques I would like to use (a mixed methods design).
I have my final application to a geography department left, which requires me to submit a proposal. I had shared a previous draft proposal with a potential supervisor, they really liked it, and also suggested additional literature I should incorporate. In my earlier draft, I've mainly referred to political science, sociology and anthropology research on this theme, which also already covers a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. I carefully read through the new literature, and have already incorporated some of it in my proposal.
However, I have some issues with a significant chunk of this new literature which broadly falls under critical geography. Personally, I found much of it unnecessarily jargon-loaded and (because of the jargon) somewhat opaque. I'm not sure if I understand what "postcolonial anxiety" means, for instance (a term I came across multiple times in this work, and which was never explained at any point), and I'm not sure if I want to situate my work in geography literature that takes on a posthumanistic approach (since this thematic includes technology, ANT is popular). I also don't know whether and to what extent I should cite an author who has clearly written "My research is unverifiable" at the beginning of their book, and not dedicated even a paragraph or two discussing the rationale and implications of that for their findings and claims anywhere in the book. Reading through this literature did not excite me, it annoyed me, and I am now feeling somewhat resistant towards putting it in my proposal. Ideally, I would engage only very minimally with these authors, but putting them in my proposal feels like according them significance in shaping my research agenda.
I would highly appreciate any advice on this situation. My deadline is approaching soon, and I would like to finish the proposal. But does this mean that perhaps this department is n

Morbid obese people are more likely to contract SARS-CoV-2 infection and its most severe complications, as need for mechanical ventilation. Ketogenic Diet (KD) is able to induce a fast weight loss preserving lean mass and is particularly interesting as a preventive measure in obese patients. Moreover, KD has anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating properties, which may help in preventing the cytokine storm in infected patients. Respiratory failure is actually considered a contraindication for VLCKD, a very-low calorie form of KD, but in the literature there are some data reporting beneficial effects on respiratory parameters from ketogenic and low-carbohydrate high-fat diets. KD may be helpful in reducing ventilatory requirements in respiratory patients, so it should be considered in specifically addressed clinical trials as an adjuvant therapy for obese patients infected with SARS-CoV-2.

I've started studying self-deception and soon I've discovered it's plenty of interpretations (versions and sub-versions of what self-deception is). Could anyone suggest me a good book (or a review article) that could help me navigate this myriad of views? Thanks!
I am doing my first literature review about Point of Care Testing in paediatric diabetes, this is in preparation for my project next year, comparing different POCT methodologies for HbA1c testing. I need a more engaging title than the one currently have βPoint of care testing for paediatric diabetic patients.β Will this do? I think some inspiration is definitely needed.
I have eight key words so eight separate jobs.
Prepare 2 pages original literature review for each word excluding source and citation.
Citation in APA format.
Dateline : In 4 hours.
Edit 1 : Still open, dateline starts after we agreed, PayPal only
Before starting the actual literature review, I have to complete some sort of literature review matrix (on Excel), where I have to find sources/papers related to the research topic and basically create a chart where I organize the information from each paper. How should I roughly format/structure this?
I was thinking about gathering around 15 sources, but I'm not entirely sure how to organize the columns (i.e should I briefly summarize, then copy and paste the abstract and a few quotes??)
I'm kind of lost ... Thank you
Since last year, I have worked under a professor where I have contributed to multiple manuscripts related to clinical subjects. I currently have two publications and would definitely be able to have multiple by the time I apply.
But here is my concern: The professor publishes very often to low impact journals which are open access. If I weee to interview at programs, would they value my publications as βresearch experienceβ as long as I demonstrate knowledge of the publications I contributed to?

Please can someone give some advice on how to tackle a literature review and how my introduction should be! Been Researching load but really can't seem to get my head around it all. It's for my dissertation the question I have got in mind is... Is mainstream schools the only answer for pupils with SEND. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
