A list of puns related to "Scholarly Paper"
I am looking for some academic papers in philosophy and music theory (though I don't think it should matter). The last college I went to offered a service to students that allowed them to read (almost) any scholarly paper for free. Does ASU have similar services?
Hello! Can anyone recommend research paper websites like pubmed but just for computer science? (I am mostly interested in functional programming in Scala, but I guess a general computer science database is good enough). I already know Google Scholar, but I am looking for the official ones.
Itβs a solid 9 pages written for a 400 lvl class Iβm taking and Iβm pretty proud of if.
I'm working on a research paper for my Intro to Religious Studies class on Islam but I'm having a hard time finding scholarly journal articles on basic/core beliefs of Islam that aren't locked behind paywalls. Can anyone point me to some good sources, or a good place to start? Thank you in advance!
CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS: ROUTLEDGE INTERNATIONAL HANDBOOK OF BISEXUALITY
Saw this call for contributions from bisexual scholars for a "major new reference book on bisexuality...." to "bring together scholars and activists from all over the globe to reflect on 50 years of bisexual research and activism. Grounded in the social sciences with insights from across the arts and humanities... critically examine long-standing debates, provide an overview of the current state of bisexual studies, give fresh perspectives and insights into neglected and emerging areas, and help to set the agenda for future research."
Figured I'd share this with you all cause this seems like a great opportunity for the people that contribute and for us bisexuals at large. Imo we need more of us making an impact on the research, policy, and history done that impacts us, and less of us being an afterthought or thrown into question.
The editors say the aim is to have the book
"Foreground the priorities and perspectives of bisexual communities, bringing community knowledges to an academic audience,
Is genuinely intersectional in its understanding of bisexualities,
Reflect critically on the role of minority world understandings of (bi)sexualities in the reproduction of white supremacy, and considers how, and whether, bisexualities might be decolonised,
Provide a complex, nuanced, and wide-reaching picture of the state of bisexual studies across the arts, humanities and social sciences
Consider the ways in which the idea of bisexuality is deployed in narrative and culture, and the impact of these tropes on the lived experiences of bisexual subjects"
So if this sounds like your kinda thing I say go for it and contact the editors! Or if not you, but you know bi+/m-spec people who could contribute, you can let them know!
Iβm reading Walter Scheidelβs book βEscape from Romeβ which posits that the reason for the βGreat Divergenceβ is that Europe was reasonably Unique in not having once had a major empire taking up 80%+ of its population at one time, but then never again, unlike China, India, or the MENA, regions.
I am not finished with it yet, but in the macro sense it seems well researched and well reasoned without making any large leaps of reason or evidence, is there any significant concensus on this book? What do people here with relevant flairs think? It kind of seems a bit like guns germs and steel if that book werenβt, wellβ¦bad?
Preferably, the papers should concern philosophy or theology, but other topics are also welcome. This thread will allow others to better educate themselves on an academic level.
Blogposts are welcome as long as they aren't in bad faith, are not presented in a rude manner by the author, and does not strawman the other side of an issue.
For anyone taking this course, how did yβall do on the paper? Cuz Iβm disappointed to say the least. Do yβall know of anyone who got a 90? My class average was a 66% π.
What's a paper you read that you felt everyone in the world regardless of their academic background should read?
Any field. Must be simple enough so that someone with only a general understanding can understand it.
I like the wording of this... "In March of 2020, after a series of successful clinical trials, Zosano Pharma Corporation (USA) announced the acceptance of their New Drug Application (NDA) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their product Qtrypta, a zolmitriptan-loaded MAP for the treatment of migraine headaches. This is the first successful NDA based on MAP technology to be accepted by the FDA and, if approved in 2021 as expected, represents a key milestone for the field as MAPs continue to advance toward commercialization."
Mid-semester crisis leads me to doubt everything and anything I've ever known.
I notice a problem of giving up too easily when I hit something I don't understand. I think I don't like reading a ton to squeeze a small bit of information out of it.
Other times, I find myself reading words but not making sense out of it.
For assigned readings, I can never finish the assigned amount. I often opt out at less than 50%. I heard it's best to break it down and figure out parts you don't know as well as asking questions.
I struggled with the multiple-choice English SAT (I am fine with the science and history section. It's the other sections that mess me up.) Between deciding two answers, I can't decide which is more correct. Also, when they ask what does the sentence at __ means, I'm clueless. I know that SAT does not reflect actual-world problems at all but I worried that skipping out on it will bite me back.
Actually, the moment I realized that I am missing something is when a site is asking us to summarize the opening line of Pride and Prejudice and I just reiterated the sentence. Apparently, I did not get its sarcastic and snappy tone that was supposed to ridicule the prospect.
I think we learned something in middle school along the lines of tone, mood, ethos/pathos/logos.
I understand that reading for work is different from reading for fun. Even then, I want to be good enough to read big classics like the Odyssey and Illiad, and Journey to the West. Plus, I want to learn more about things through research. I feel like if I can discipline myself to read more, I could focus more on school.
My questions are:
How can I be a better reader?
How can I ask questions while reading?
How can I be better at answering SAT-style questions?
Most importantly, how can I understand what I am reading?
I'm currently writing a paper about how disabled and neurodivergent individuals have not been included in the design of programs for our own education as well as a lack of disabled teachers, the effects that has on disabled students, and how we can improve that. Any recommendations?
Does anyone know of any scholarly or academic sources featuring or preferably focussing on Aggretsuko? I'm writing an essay comparing the differing takes on Capitalism in Aggretsuko and Animal Crossing. Thanks!
[Edit: This question has been answered! You can use: https://temple.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/charles/logon.html to request access to specific scholarly articles. They're really quick responding too!]
Hi, probably a half-mistake to post a serious question on this subreddit,
But I wanted to know if there was a way for us to request access to specific journal articles/scholarly papers?
I'm doing a few research papers and there are some articles that I would like to take a look at/read/research on but we don't have access to it from school's library institution page for one reason or another.
Has anyone ever done this before? I wondered if I could ask a librarian or something for this kind of help, but didn't want to waste any time if someone had already tried this. I'd like to not spend $30 + to rent a journal article for a research paper if I don't have to.
I especially welcome your fave ones even if theyβre really βscholarlyβ, so long as they get you excited.
Hey everyone,
We are a couple of students from the University of Michigan and we built a platform for researchers to have discussions around papers. What is special about our platform is that the discussions are associated with parts of the text through the use of highlights instead of having one monolithic comment section at the end. We are currently hosting all papers from arXiv and would love your feedback!
