A list of puns related to "List of soap opera recasts"
Ratings are terrible in comparison to the past and I know very few people who watch.. What one falls first?!
Every opinion about this usually is some form of gatekeeping saying that it's the "wrong way" or that because it's was made like this for a century, it should not be changed.
Yes if you increase motion smoothing to the max, there will be some artifacts but you don't need to crank to the max.
Like you can hear some absolutely bonkers shit doing that. I turned one on to hear this basically:
Woman: Iβm sorry I havenβt been there for you, being in jail and all.
Man: Itβs okay. I donβt want to get close to you if I donβt know if the baby is mine anyway.
Woman: No! Thereβs another child!
Man: Shiiiiiit, if you say so then bet.
Like thatβs it. Just completely throwing out what he said earlier, not questioning if the kid was his, just βyouβre right I prolly fucked you or something and got you pregnantβ.
I'd post this on the All My Children sub except that sub literally has only 12 members. Which is kind of fitting for what I'm about to say.
So they're planning on having a prime-time spinoff/reboot of AMC entitled "Pine Valley". Personally I don't see that show lasting very long. A lot of the long-time AMC cast members have either kicked the bucket, or have moved on to other shows (i.e. Michael E. Knight, Cameron Mathison). But they're planning on introducing a lot of new, younger characters. Unless you're like me (I grew up watching AMC with my parents), I'm not sure many folks in the 30 and younger age group would be interested in watching.
But another thing. They said that the plot of this new show would involve a "decades-long feud" between the Kane and Santos families. But I thought the Santos family originally was from Texas and didn't come to Pine Valley until Edmund married Maria in 1993 (I was very little so I don't really know what happened). And aside from kidnapping and then returning Edmund and Maria's baby, I'm not sure how much bad blood there was between Erica and the Santos family.
So this new show sounds like a major retcon.
The situations and drama that arises is so over-the-top, I honestly thought it was a comedy before realizing that it's all supposed to be taken seriously. I died laughing during several scenes where the ridiculousness of what's happening, in the context it's occuring in, is so inappropriate or unnecessary it had to be a joke. I don't think I can finish the first season knowing a lot of what I find hilarious about it is not supposed to be funny and drives plot points.
I've been living for 29 years on this earth and yesterday, the truth - nothing but the truth - was unfolded. I went to work yesterday and thankful for that because it was a good distraction but once I came home, I just broke down in tears at the new revelations.
Even my partner was shaken by it.

I was born on 16th of July and my bio mother died 17th of August. (Date edited out to avoid any dangerous circumstances.) She was battling cancer for as long as she had me. Her partner/my bio dad never visited her, but decided to visit once she was about to die with his new family. Everyone's heart was broken and thereafter, my aunt adopted me because my bio mother died and my bio dad didn't want me. 13 years later, on the day that the adoption process was finalized, he was killed in a car crash with his new family.
Or so I've been told.

Recently I had decided to get an examination for ADHD. I know I have it and I would like to get help.
The psychologists was probing into my childhood and was puzzled by the fact my foster mum would go ballistic whenever I asked about my bio parents, and that my grandmother would bang her head against the wall when I asked, "So what really happened?"
I decided to ask my cousin and her parents instead.
Please note, I no longer have any contact with my family; therefore, I went to my cousin and her family instead. They're nice. I love them.

"They were in love so they got married, you know?" My aunt told me through the phone. "They both had stable jobs and they eventually got married then have you together."
"However, your mother got sick and was for days in the hospital."
"Your dad often showed up in the beginning but he never came again after a while."
"I don't know, your grandma didn't like him so much. Neither did your grandpa. I guess it was because he drank."
"Your mother was a cheerful, merry person with lots of friends. We all liked her, but your grandparents didn't like her so much."
"I guess that translated to your dad as well."
"She eventually died. He showed up at the funeral, but left quite early. Thereafter, I never see him again, even if your uncle (her husband) and I were close to your mum and your dad."
"Even on the custody court date, he didn't show up. Many letters were sent but none picked up."
"He just disappeared."
"Your grandpa asked your aunt to take care of you because she had a stable income, so did her husband."
"No, I didn't see him on the day she died. He wasn't there. No, we do

This is something I've actually thought a lot about. I was studying cultural anthropology in undergrad, and I really would've liked to have done a genuine project on this. I've since switched focus to forensic anthropology, but it still really interests me. These are two things that have remained in constant syndication since the 1960's, telling stories that unconsciously grow and respond to evolving cultural trends in the same way society as a whole does. You can essentially read The Amazing Spider-Man from issue #1 to now and get a feel for what it would be like to live through 1962 to 2022. I'm a huge comic nerd, so that just interests me. Not so much into soaps, but they're the same way. I don't think there's anything else like these mediums, and that's why they're so important. Something would actually be lost if these stories ever stopped going.
In the original SATC series, I loved the girls' chats as they strutted down the streets of NYC. It really captured the hustle and bustle of the city and felt real. And it always like they were in the middle of real life and in the middle of real conversations.
In the first 2 episodes of AJLT, the streets outside looked really fake, like a cheap soap opera set. It was obviously filmed in NYC so why did the streets look and feel so fake??
Urgh, just another thing that the production team seemed to have forgotten about what worked well for the show. SJP et al used to always say New York was the "fifth character" of the show but I feel like they truely wrote out 2 characters for this series: Samantha and NYC βΉ
So with reality TV being a big thing for many years now, soap operas pretty much are a dying breed. So my solution would be to have a "reality-soap" which basically would consist of actors who are good at improvising, ad-libbing, etc. creating their own characters and essentially being the "writers" of the show.
They would still be given scripts but they would basically just be overviews of what should be established in each scene, as opposed to having to memorize pages worth of lines. And the way these "scripts" would be written would be for the actors to sit down, review the material and ask each other "What would you do in this situation?", and that would be the basis for the next scene.
There would still be the usual twists that one can expect from a soap opera. Characters would fall in love, get married, have children, get divorced, die, come back from the dead, etc., but the way it would be presented to the viewer would be less like a soap opera and more like an ongoing reality show in which the plot evolves over time.
I came up with this idea from the roleplays I've done with some other GH fans over these past couple years, where we basically post on a forum in character and wait for the next person to respond. We're not reading off any sort of script; we have a basic idea of what is going to be established in the scene, but the way we get there is to say something (or in this case, post something) and see how the other person reacts.
If any of you folks go on the GH YouTube page, you may have noticed there are profiles created for various GH characters that comment in character on the clips that they upload on the GH channel from each episode every day. Those are me and my fellow RPers. π
Every serial has two girls loving one boy.
Young girl falling in love with old man.
Unnecessary excessively romantic scenes inserted where ever not necessary.
Girl (wife) always submissive to the boy, ready to do anything for him.
Girl and boy not consummating even long after the marriage and thereby increasing the expectation, excitation among the viewers. I don't understand what's the big deal in consummating and why it is getting highlighted.
Still many points are there. But as of now I can't recall them as they have f**ked up my head. (I don't watch them. But I can hear the noise when my family is watching those serials.)
I am not sure whether I am right or not about my assumption. But I strongly feel this is the fact.
P.S. I am not a pervert who looks everything with sexual angle.
Lycan is the sweetest character, and the kind of friend we should all aspire to emulate. He is consistently putting in legwork to mediate healthy, working relationships going with all the main cast, he doesn't push boundaries past their limit, and the fan service is top notch.
I hope the writers keep him on for at least a few more seasons.
The longer this goes on, it becomes less of a token that I gambled on and put some money in, and more of a token that I hold to remind me to come back here and see all the drama that is happening constantly.
