A list of puns related to "List of foods with religious symbolism"
There is deep religious symbolism in Dune. Initially reading, some of the names seem almost silly in a universe set so far into the future from our current world (Jessica always seems out of place). Because Dune takes place in our timeline, albeit, many many years into the future, I’m curious if the selection of the name Paul is no mere accident. Would love to hear some theories from this group.
Edit: Just thought of an interesting juxtaposition of Paul’s blindness in Messiah (which could be considered new sight after prescience) compared to Saul who was blinded after his alleged sight of Jesus.
Finished the Bleach Manga a couple of months ago and I was thinking about Ywach and all his religious symbolism. I can’t remember any other villains like that so I want to talk about it.
I don't usually examine stories through a religious lens, but this story seemed so similar, and the Fallout games have tackled religion before, so I think that a comparison is warranted.
DiMa is viewed as a savior of the synths, he is a philosophical prophet who creates a promised land (Acadia) that some synths believe in, some don't. He does not judge you for who you are, he just lets you in as long as you're willing to follow his rules. When the Sole Survivor questions him, he responds with more questions, and elaborate metaphors, much the same way how Jesus used parables. The citizens of Acadia have a reverence bordering on Worship for him, and you get to join his inner circle (disciples) if you so choose. But this is just background information. The most striking symbolism is when you confront him on killing and replacing Avery.
While Jesus never murdered anyone (at least not to my knowledge), the parallels between Jesus' crucifixion and DiMa's execution are striking.
Their death is caused by someone who they thought was close to them (Judas/Sole Survivor), and after some deliberation they go to it willingly, and for the same reasons, despite their followers (disciples/Faraday) begging them to save themselves.
According to the Bible, Jesus died as a way for paying for humanity's sins, and to protect them from god the creator's wrath.
DiMa turns himself in for similar reasons. Afraid that if he doesn't, the humans (Synth's creators) will turn their wrath toward the citizens of Acadia. In other words, DiMa bears the wrath of humanity to save the synths, of which he is one (just like how Jesus was a human).
When Jesus was on trial, the presiding judge (Pontius Pilate) didn't want to condemn him, but it was the law and the will of the people that he do so. It was the same with Captain Avery. She cared for DiMa, but it was law that DiMa be punished for his actions.
TL;DR: Much like how the Bible tells the story of Jesus sacrificing himself for humanity, Far Harbor tells the story of DiMa sacrificing himself to save the Synths.
For instance, when we see religious statues today (such as in Hinduism, neopaganism, and even in Catholicism) it is generally understood that the practitioners of these religions do not literally believe that the "idols" are the deity they're worshipping, but rather, representations of the divine (and not divine itself). Is this true of those polytheists derided by the Bible as 'idol worshippers' as well, or is there evidence that ancient religions really did believe that religious statues were divine themselves?
I’m working on a project on which I’ll eventually ask ya’ll for help and I found this gem. I was hooked as soon as I saw ‘Bat’ listed. Excellent details about interpreting the meaning of the slight variations on clasping hands - everything from the position of the hands hand to getting info from how the sleeves are dressed. (My friend and I have always disagreed on that meaning. Apparently, we were both right. Damn.)
[Cemetery Symbolism in Stone by Bret Peterson] (https://uvtagg.org/classes/bpetersen/Cemetery%20Symbols%20in%20Stone.pdf)
This was just a thought. Having some understanding of physics and Christianity, I realized a parallel: my efforts to find both religious and scientific meaning from Eva ended up being a completely fruitless and confounding endeavor.
Example:
In Episode 16, Shinji gets swallowed up in Leliel's shadow, described as a Dirac Sea. Well, turns out that the Dirac sea is a concept in physics. And no, it isn't some black-hole like field that can swallow up a building-sized robot. It is just a mathematical model acting as a "patch" when scientists discovered an apparent problem with their equations. Yeah, not very exciting, right?
Similarly, the Dead Sea Scrolls was described in Eva as some mysterious prophetic document. Well, the Dead Sea Scrolls is (mostly) just a copy of segments of the Hebrew Bible. In fact, if you walk into a Christian bookshop and pick up a New International Version (NIV) Bible, its translators made reference to some Dead Sea Scroll manuscripts when making the translation. So you can own a part of SEELE's mysterious manuscripts just by buying an NIV Bible.
Just as how complex-sounding physics and mathematical terms are being used in Eva just to create a sense of "technical jargon" in the series, religious motifs and concepts in Eva are probably likewise just there to give a sense of exotic mystique to the series.
So yeah, given my (brief) understanding of Christianity and quantum physics, some parts of Eva felt slightly odd (as I know that these concepts aren't what they are described as in the series). Doesn't stop me from enjoying the series and the films though!
Im talking she wont let her kids watch Harry Potter cuz witchcraft level religious.

Some of you may have heard of 973-eht-namuh-973.com or 9, there is a lot of strange things on here include multiple index's of terms, here(the "second index) and the fifth index here and a weird forum here this forum is called the Oracle Forum and is quite strange. Some of the pages on this websites are hundreds of lines long.
Alegedly this site was made by a crazed mathmatician looking to prove the existence of god.
The thing that makes me think this isnt an arg is how much work went into this, this looks like months of work for nothing.
