Collaborate on a list of Noir films set in New England with me?

Hey Everyone, like the title says I've made a short film of neo-noir films set in my home region of New England in the last 20 years. Here's the link! I would love some collaboration on this, let me know what films I'm missing and which ones I should be checking out.

My only two criteria for the list are that they were released between 2000-2020, and that they be a noir set in NE, which means we're excluding New York and New Jersey. Looking forward to your feedback.

[TOMT] [Foreign Film] Early to mid 2000s. Has a one-shot scene of a couple playing music in a room. The view outside begins to move because the set had been built on a train.

I am looking for a foreign (non-U.S.) film from the early-to-mid 2000s. It's relatively plotless, just scenes of recurring characters interacting with their surroundings. The standout scene occurs about 3/4 of the way through the movie. I believe there are no edits during the scene. A couple enters a room and begin to play music. The view outside of the window starts to move. As the song continues the camera pans or pulls back to reveal that the room set had been built on a train. I think the song ends with the room docking at a train station. Anyway, it was a beautiful movie that I'd like to watch again. Thanks!

r/Screenwriting should do a reddit-based Short Film contest, where everyone has to base their scripts off a set list of Proverbs. β€œAll that glitters isn’t gold” etc. Prize or no prize, I think people would partake for fun!

We should organize more on here and jog each other’s creative libidos. Not that we don’t, but subreddit wide contests like this really bring us closer together, just a thought if a mod or higher up would want to organize something, other than the yearly feature contest.

Proverbs always help me write, you can always align your characters with them, so I figured they’d be a cool idea to write off in a contest.

I would love a list of American family films set in forests.

Here's two examples: 1. Harry and the Henderson’s, 2. Forrest Warrior.

Cheesy but well made movies like Harry and the Henderson's would be ideal, if I’m honest. Uplifting and wholesome would be most welcome. I just need your help with the names of some great family films set in the Redwoods and American national parks. Harmless, escapist fun family films to pick me up in this down period of my life, with pleasant soundtrack would be a bonus. Thanks to anyone who can help. Bonus points for the movies that are 80's or 90's.

[Inspiration] Inside the 3.X setting guide for Eberron there is a list of films to inspire campaigns and give a feeling of the setting (e.g Casablanca, Pirates of the Carribean, Raiders of the Lost Ark). What other sources of inspiration (books, films, etc.) inspire your adventures?

I've recently gotten into Eberron, on top of a couple of other things. I've been reading up on the setting, and have been watching a few of the films the Campaign Guide recommends. Along with that, I have a couple of series that I find give me a few ideas for Eberron adventures.

First, I find a good deal of similarities between Eberron and Fullmetal Alchemist. Both have their magic a part of their technology, economy, and military (Dragonmarked Houses, Magewrites, War Magic; State Alchemists, the study of Alchemy), similar technology levels (Trains, Prothstetics; Lightning rails, Automail), the shadow of a devastating war looming over the country (the Last War in Khorvaire; The Ishval Civil War), and a whole lot of intrigue. I think they're a good match.

Second, I also find some similarities, albeit a little less so, in Mike Mignola's Hellboy. I've only recently started reading through the 'mignolaverse', so my knowledge is somewhat limited. Mainly, is see similarities in the fact that there's a lot of ancient evils in tin cans trying to break out (Daelkyr, Lords of Dust, Quori; Demons, Ancient Witches), spooky-cult stuff (Cults of the Dragon Below, Emerald Claw, Followers of the Lord of Blades; Occult Nazi Shennanigans), and the general dark ambiance in those regards. I could see BRPD-esque adventuring organizations in charge of digging out cults and containing ancient evils. The whole thing with the Daughters of Sora Kell gives me ideas of Baba Yaga and the kerfuffle with the witches in England, along with Ogdru Jahad feeling like a perfect example of an abomination from the Age of Demons.

Anything that inspired you guys and your campaigns?

So it’s clear many set lists over the course of the dead’s history had a distinct pattern of - Jerry song then a Bobby song then Jerry. The beginning of dicks picks 10 is a nice example. How to build a test and train set out of list of images?

[Very new to machine learning]

Hi,

I used this script found here (https://pyscience.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/dicom-in-python-importing-medical-image-data-into-numpy-with-pydicom-and-vtk/) to read in DICOM images:

import pydicom
import dicom
import os
import numpy
from matplotlib import pyplot, cm

PathDicom = '/Users/folder/Downloads/MyHead/'
lstFilesDCM = [] # create an empty list
for dirName, subdirList, fileList in os.walk(PathDicom):
    for filename in fileList:
        if ".dcm" in filename.lower(): # check whether the file's DICOM
            lstFilesDCM.append(os.path.join(dirName,filename))

# Get ref file
RefDs = dicom.read_file(lstFilesDCM[1])

# Load dimensions based on the number of rows, columns, and slices (along the Z axis)
ConstPixelDims = (int(RefDs.Rows), int(RefDs.Columns), len(lstFilesDCM))

# Load spacing values (in mm)
ConstPixelSpacing = (float(RefDs.PixelSpacing[0]), float(RefDs.PixelSpacing[1]), float(RefDs.SliceThickness))

x = numpy.arange(0.0, (ConstPixelDims[0]+1)*ConstPixelSpacing[0], ConstPixelSpacing[0])
y = numpy.arange(0.0, (ConstPixelDims[1]+1)*ConstPixelSpacing[1], ConstPixelSpacing[1])
z = numpy.arange(0.0, (ConstPixelDims[2]+1)*ConstPixelSpacing[2], ConstPixelSpacing[2])

# The array is sized based on 'ConstPixelDims'
ArrayDicom = numpy.zeros(ConstPixelDims, dtype=RefDs.pixel_array.dtype)

# loop through all the DICOM files
for filenameDCM in lstFilesDCM:
    # read the file
    ds = dicom.read_file(filenameDCM)
    # store the raw image data
    ArrayDicom[:, :, lstFilesDCM.index(filenameDCM)] = ds.pixel_array

pyplot.figure(dpi=300)
pyplot.axes().set_aspect('equal', 'datalim')
pyplot.set_cmap(pyplot.gray())
pyplot.pcolormesh(x, y, numpy.flipud(ArrayDicom[:, :, 80]))

I want to use this image set to create a training set, do I just split the files half and call one training and test?

there has to be more, how do I train any model to say this is test or training? Is there an off the shelf model I can use? or is every model custom?

Thank you in advance

This sub is too soft on the church. Gloves OFF: the church specifically trains followers to be pathological and habitual liars and TBMs know at least subconsciously that they're lying. I think most of us are here because of several lies told by the church. I list my top 15.

We talk a lot about TBMs and their pet "church" using gaslighting tactics, which is just another word for LYING. And how the church and TBMs change their story constantly. At first I thought my habitual liar of a former bishop(s) and stake president were anomalies in the church. Nope, the church trains the whole membership to lie pathologically.

Top 15 habitual lies (one for each habitual pathological liar of the first presidency and quorum of 12 liars), doubletalk (lies), false claims (lies) of the "church," its leaders and members:

  1. Polygamy is not doctrine/never was
  2. Polygamy is not practiced anymore
  3. The church is not rich
  4. Church doctrine has not changed
  5. The restoration was done, now it's ongoing
  6. Statements by past first presidencies were not them speaking for God, even though they said they were. They were speaking as men.
  7. Poor people "owe" tithing
  8. Temple covenants haven't been changed
  9. Church "discipline" is sacred. No one has ever been ex'd/disf for _____
  10. "We don't teach that leaders are infallible, they're men speaking for God" {entire culture treats current leaders as infallible}
  11. The church is growing so fast.
  12. The q15 are "prophets, seers, revelators" (members/church never claims any prophecy or gift of seership)
  13. God leads and guides the church (endless pandering doubletalk policy changes and surveys and focus groups and flat out CAVING to social pressure especially in temple changes, and changes directly from "apostates" AFTER the were ex'd)
  14. "I follow the Lord's law of health" (is 250 lbs overweight and/or always sucking down sugary food/pop)
  15. {last minute addition} The handbook is changing and it's all going to be available to everyone (except a full fifth of it). Nonsensically claim this handbook re-naming is somehow part of the "ongoing restoration."

EDITED TO ADD #16 (how did I forget this one, too many lies to keep track of) No paid clergy

Church of LIAR day Saints.

Missionaries: trained to lie, evade, gaslight.

So called "apostles" lie about almost everything related to the behavior of the institutional "church" corporation (aka real estate conglomerate)

The "en-suhn" is a monthy compendium of distortions, lies, and straight up propaganda (lies)

The Babadook, Housebound, Tusk, Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, As Above So Below, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, 13 Sins, It Follows, Late Phases, Honeymoon, What We Do in the Shadows, Creep, Unfriended, Crimson Peak. The Final Girls, Insidious Chapter 3, The Visit, Bone Tomahawk, We Are Still Here, The Witch, Goodnight Mommy, The Hallow, Deathgasm, The Nightmare, Turbo Kid, The Gift, Green Room, The Guest, Cheap Thrills, The Conjuring 2, Don’t Breathe, Hush, Train to Busan, The Wailing, The Neon Demon, The Shallows, The Invitation, 10 Cloverfield Lane.

I think my top 10 are Spring, Bone Tomahawk, It Follows, Train to Busan, [Cheap Thrills] (https://moviesfilmsandflix.com/2014/03/28/cheap-thrills-a-most-dangerous-game/), Don't Breathe, [The Invitation] (https://moviesfilmsandflix.com/2016/07/20/the-invitation-a-dinner-party-with-a-side-of-cult/), What We Do in the Shadows, Honeymoon and Creep.
