Sky Haven Demo - A small guide: List of quirks and counterintuitive thing you should know

Game Progression

  • 24 hours in game time equals to 2 years in tech tree time.

Construction Management

  • Bulldozer button is only applicable to road and taxi ways. It does not work against runways, runway exits, ramps and buildings. Demolish road and taxi way will also not provide any refund.

  • To demolish everything else, you need to 1) select it and open the structure UI, 2) then shut down the structure, 3) then wait for the building to reach "stopped" status, 4) finally click the bin button in the UI. Having to meet all those criteria means build your airport during day time while planes are flying around is almost impossible.

  • Reposition or upgrade of existing buildings (definition including runway, runway exit and ramps) is not allowed in the game. Also demolish existing building will not refund the vehicles and parking upgrades you purchased.

  • (Credit to u/Asminnow). To reposition a building, you need to 1) select it and open the structure UI, 2) then shut down the structure, 3) then wait for the building to reach "stopped" status and exit out of structure UI, then 4) open a construction menu at the bottom (such as the one with runways, the one with buildings, or the capital improvement window), 5) then finally drag the building around by holding down the left mouse button. Personally speaking this design is so messed up that bugs are easier to find than this functionality.

  • Once paving is researched, only road gets upgraded - everything else you will need to build yourself.

  • For all ramps, the plane entrance is near the top of the circle, while the exit is near the cross road at the bottom. Use this knowledge to avoid traffic jams.

  • Even if you put two ramps side by side, there will still be enough space between them to create a road between them.

Vehicle Management

  • New vehicle upgrades only helps with capacity, not the speed of doing things - meaning if you have tons of small planes demanding small jobs, having tons of cheap old vehicles will trump over a small number of expansive new vehicles.

  • Vehicles can be transferred between buildings if parking space is available.

  • Vehicles can be deleted from game for 50% refund.

  • Buses unload passengers in the same speed regardless whether it is one passenger or 20 passengers. Better buses just means less trips to the terminal to fetch the 20 passengers.

  • Buses will not unload passenger onto the plane until all services minus parking is completed.

Is this opinion counterintuitive to the sales community? I never want to be #1 but prefer to just be ranked among the top of the list.

Sometimes it's nice to just be ranked number two or three, top 5 whatever. When you aren't the #1 rockstar salesperson you aren't always expected to be the best. When you are among the top 10% and regarded as really good, you don't have the insane expectation of being the best but will still always exceed quotas and make really good $.

Been in sales for 15 years and I've never consistently been #1 but am always at the top and I like it there.

The Cold Hard Truth of Alerk’s β€œA-list” Movie Star Status

He’s a B grade actor with no certified β€œ A list β€œ roles or classic performances as a leading male actor in a huge, successful film.

His career as an actor has never ever been anywhere near the ballpark with legitimate A list stars of his generation in modern cinema such as Daniel Day-Lewis , Harrison Ford, Hanks, Pacino, De Niro,DiCaprio and a few others.

He’s had only one Academy Award nomination and that was for best supporting actor.

He’s won a bunch of SAG awards for 30 rock. A show that’s basically him playing himself and to be honest it’s just a good slap stick comedy series that would be nothing without show creator Tina Fey’s acting and writing skills.

In my opinion, his one and only claim to fame when delivering a memorable, classic performance worthy of β€œ A-list” status is his 10 minute brilliant monologue in β€œ Glengary Glen Ross”.

He was also very good in the small role of Juan Trippe in β€œ The Aviator”.

But that’s about it.

He was a passenger of ex wife Kim’s fame for years and years and has never come close to the super stardom and career roles she had.

It shits me that he’s constantly referred to as A-list. His career is pretty mediocre when you take a good close look at it all.

RFM's upcoming debate: How do you have a debate on mormonism? It feels like church truth claims are kind of like jello. How do you debate that? - What would be on your debate list?

Here is an update on RFM's upcoming debate with the midnight mormons.

https://ne-np.facebook.com/RadioFreeMormon/posts/rfm-v-midnight-mormons-debate-updatemy-last-post-regarding-a-potential-debate-wi/382925929995838/

I tried to mentally put myself into RFM's position. I like to have discussions about evolving church doctrines and its truth claims. But invariably they often fall short. "Why?" You ask. Because given that the church is run by a lay and untrained ministry you can find quotes from leaders/prophets on any side of an issue.

So what again are we debating?

Are we debating the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon?

What does that mean?

That it is a literal story of real people living in a real place and time?

That should be easy, right?

Nope.

Just read any apologetic argument. If you bring up anachronisms, there are many arguments to explain them away. Horse is taper. OR Horse is horse, we just haven't found the bones yet? Or Horse just means ceremonial animal and its more about translation with word borrowing than it is the real thing. etc. etc. etc.

What about prophets will never lead us astray?

That should be easy too, right?

Just quote about anything BY said and your done. Right?

Nope.

He was speaking as a man or "leading astray" doesn't mean they are perfect. God only has imperfect people to work with. That must be so frustrating for Him. hahahaha /s

But given those problems, here would be my top list of debate items:

  1. Is the Book of Abraham what Joseph Smith said it was?
  2. Does the Book of Mormon teach false doctrine?
  3. If the Book of Mormon teaches false doctrine can it still be true?
  4. Does priesthood have the power to heal?
  5. Have church leaders/prophets ever lied to their members?
  6. Is a personal spiritual witness a valid way to learn truth?

What would be on your debate list?

Is a debate in the mormon context even possible? Why or why not?

NFTs are the ultimate first world problem. The idea that we would WANT to make resources MORE SCARCE is so counterintuitive to the rest of economic history, it is the epitome of decadence. We have truly made it my friends.

We all know why the idea of artificially-enforced scarcity solves a problem the digital economy has been facing since its inception. Our entire civilization is a hierarchy built around the scarcity of valuable commodities, and the advent of infinitely replicable digital content is the first and only disruptor to that model.

But guys. Think about it. WE MADE IT. We made it to a world of plenty. We created a commodity that never runs out. A fountain of youth. A golden fleece. WE SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF SCARCITY!

...only to bring it back?!

Yes, okay, fine. Without something like NFTs, digital artists may never get compensated for their work. They will have to rely on advertisements for physical goods and services to generate revenue. Content creators will be forever screwed into shilling other people's crap and desperately begging for donations and subscriptions while people distribute their work for free behind their backs.

I support the technology.

Okay? Hear me? I SUPPORT THE TECHNOLOGY! I do. It solves a problem that wouldn't be solved otherwise.

But come on, let's at least just laugh about it for a minute - we had to make the game HARDER for ourselves to ensure that people got paid. After tens of thousands of years of trying to make things more abundant, more accessible, more convenient... we find ourselves here, trying to make them LESS abundant, LESS accessible, and MORE EXPENSIVE because otherwise we'd have infinite supply and we'd have to throw traditional economics out the window.

It feels like a cheat code. Like an athlete who had to wear clown shoes to the race because they were too fast a runner, it wouldn't be entertaining otherwise.

Bitcoin and PoW is similar. We make things artificially harder than they need to be to avoid an infinite supply problem that would force us to throw our Econ 101 textbooks out the window. (I often wanted to do this in college, btw, which is why I keep mentioning it).

It is the ultimate first world problem. While some people are trying their hardworking asses off to scrape a few more cucumbers out of the ground, here we are trying to SLOW OURSELVES DOWN.

Can we take a vacation now?

Socrates claimed to know nothing, yet in Plato's dialogues he seems to have beliefs about hard truths. Why is that, and where do these beliefs come from? Has someone compiled a list of the things Socrates claims to "know"?

In Gorgias, Socrates claims that doing wrong to someone else (and getting away with it) is worse than having a wrong done to yourself. This strikes me as a clear belief, despite claiming to know nothing.

There are at least a handful of other beliefs that Socrates mentions during the dialogues, but at ethemoment my brain is not supplying them.

So I'd like to know β€” how does Socrates know this? Where do Socrates's beliefs come from? Has anyone compiled a list of the things Socrates believes?

What is your top list of testable truth claims of the church? And what is your judgment on how those truth claims stand up?

Testable Claim #1 - You can read and pray about the Book of Mormon and have a spiritual experience.

Testable Claim #2 - The Book of Mormon teaches a fulness of the gospel.

Testable Claim #3 - The Book of Mormon was written by real people, who lived in a real place and time, somewhere on the American continent(s).

Testable Claim #4 - Priesthood power is real and can heal the sick.

Testable Claim #5 - Joseph Smith accurately translated the Book of Abraham Egyptian papyri into english. At a minimum the facsimiles.

Testable Claim #6 - The prophet will never lead the church astray.

To me, all of these claims are core to the overall claim of the Church being God's one and true kingdom on earth. I don't consider any of these as tangential or secondary questions. YMMV.

To me, all of these are testable.

On number #1, I have tested it and have had many spiritual experiences with it. I don't deny those experiences. But I don't agree with the church's conclusion that if #1 happens, then it must mean that the modern day church is God's kingdom on earth or that it even came into existence in the way Joseph Smith taught that it came about. I have had similar spiritual experience in catholic mass, doing zazen meditation in a buddhist temple, and sitting in an R-rated movie. Those experience don't mandate that I also testify that the Catholic church is true or that Buddhism is God's only path back to him/her/it/them.

Of the other 5 testable truth claims, they have all fallen short in their claim and are NOT true in the way they are taught in sunday school, IMO.

What about you? What is on your top list of testable truth claims.
