A list of puns related to "List of NCAA Division I FCS football programs"

First time making a Cartogram. Thought it would be interesting to see a US map based on the number of FBS programs. I further broke it down by the percentage of Power 5 programs, using different colors. Any feedback would be appreciative. Data came from here
AMA
Hi /r/cfb community first time posting here and I'm just curious because ESPN as of right now is airing the FCS championsip series quarterfinals for both FCS Division (I-AA) and semi-finals for Division II/III I didn't understand the series. Please get back to me when you can and thanks for the clarification!
With no football games to speak of, the off season saw a bunch of chatter about Division 4. The idea that super conferences would separate (maybe even from the NCAA) and start their own division, free from such teams in the MAC or the Sun Belt.
To me, I see this as being an inevitability. I think "super" conference schools, look at leagues like the MAC, and question why they get to vote on football issues, and share in their football wealth. In a lot of ways, it echos the resentment felt in 1978, which lead to Division I splitting into I-A and I-AA.
That split was over 30 years ago. What has happened, is that I-AA have crept over that line, and new FBS schools (like Charlotte) appear every year. So, the club keeps getting bigger.
Maybe, its too big. There is no better two examples to me of this, than Georgia State and UMASS. There has been some discussion about GSU on /r/cfb, but if anyone cares to know, Georgia State (All time record 10-23) is on pace to have a historically bad year (first time in the FBS). UMASS is not expected to do much better.
Georgia State Went 1-10 last year (FCS) scoring 191 points, and allowing 424. In 2009 Georgia State Athletic Director was quoted as saying βThe CAA (FCS) has been a great fit for Georgia State athletics, and it is the perfect home for Panther football." Georgia State plays their home games at the Georgia Dome. Actual attendance last week was 5,195. The Georgia Dome seats around 70,000.
UMASS went 1-11 last year (first year FBS), scoring 152 points and allowing 482. At the start of last season, their Athletic Director was quoted "We hope to put UMASS football in the black by 2020." UMASS plays their home games in Gillette stadium, a two hour drive from campus. Poor attendance led to a $715,000 cost overrun in 2012.
My question for discussion...do you think FBS is too big? Do you see a change in college football divisions? How and why do you see those changes?
North Dakota State North Dakota State(9-0)
James Madison James Madison(8-1)
Weber State Weber State(7-2)
South Dakota State South Dakota State(7-2)
Sacramento State Sacramento State(6-3)
UNI Northern Iowa(6-3)
Central Arkansas Central Arkansas(7-2)
Montana Montana(7-2)
Furman Furman(6-3)
New Hampshire New Hampshire(5-3)
Discuss.
##Introduction
Hello to Redditors watching basketball! I am u/elefish92 and currently a statistics undergraduate student at San JosΓ© State. Fight on for dear old San JosΓ© State!
This self-project aims to compute rankings that reflect the best division I men's basketball programs based on march madness in the history of college basketball. The project reflects all march madness tournaments since the 1938-39 school year. Much of my motivation came from the recent discussion on the top programs in college basketball and my desire to practice in sports analytics.
This thread is divided into sections that probably interest you, ranging from rankings to methodology/data. I hope you have a fun time!
##Methodology/Data
Using data for all NCAA Tournaments in men's college basketball at the division I level, I assigned a value to each division I institution based on their performance. Recall that in golf and cross country that the teams with the fewest amount of points wins, which was collected based on each individual's place. The same scoring system was used here except with most points, due to the least points system causing some funky and questionable outcomes. Thus, the following values are:
There are no points given to those who managed to make the First Four, due to those institutions being borderline for the official bracket. In addition, additional points are given to those prior to the NCAA expansion, such as the 1939 NCAA Basketball Tournament starting with the Elite Eight. The computed rankings on Google by team and conference are based on a sum for all points associated with those two organizations.
This resulted in a huge database entry that was done in a week, with 1-2 hours of dedication each day. The database has multiple variables, ranging to the year of the tournament to the result of each team. The computation of pivot tables allowed inference to be much easier, and I wrote code that resulted in two sheets that gave the overall standings of teams and conferences.

What's the difference between, say, crew, or women's soccer, or men's basketball, at a D-I FBS AQ school (eg Penn State, Stanford), a D-I FBS NAQ school (eg Boise State, Ohio), a D-I FCS school (eg UC Davis, W&M), a D-I non-football conference (eg GMU, Cal State Northridge), a D-II school or a D-III school? Or do they offer consistently rigorous athletic programs?
Posted this earlier, but I missed a couple of head-to-head wins, so it should be updated. If I missed something, let me know and I will update the bracket.
