To the best of my knowledge it is first Kaggle RL competition that offers cash prizes.
Some time ago they began experimenting with so-called "simulation" competitions [1, 2].
Here, problem is quite interesting: trained agent controls one player in the 11 vs 11 match. For evaluation agent plays with other agents and in this way can climb up the leaderboard.

Match Updates
1: Kick-off!
5: Highly possible that FC could snatch a win. Gloucester ended the previous season at 14th, 17 points off relegation. Corner for Gloucester quickly turned into an attacking chance. Transition from defensive to attacking phases are swift. Might be an exhausting time for both sides.
6: Wolfenden has a chance blocked. Ball might have bumped up unfavourably, but FC United definitely showing up to the occasion.
7: Wolfenden plays it out wide to Fallon who has a crack that wasn't too far off.
10: Game's turned slightly scrappy. The lack of time definitely assisting in switching the nature of the game.
12: Crossing opportunities for both sides on the regular. All have been dealt with ease.
15: Game held up for the physio to attend to a player. Billy Jones for Gloucester gets booked for his challenge.
16: FC United have been caught offside on the occasion. Gloucester setting up with an offside trap.
18: Daniels hits one, after some quick feet, but the angle is very much against him.
20: FC United winning the second balls and trying to steal possession in Gloucester's half to some extent of success.
24: Questionable challenges on show. FC United guilty of looking nervy in the back in possession as well. 70% possession for FCUM so far.
27: Second corner for Gloucester threatens the goal, with the ball going above the crossbar.

9' Very good United interplay results in Rooney putting the ball in the back of the net but Fellaini is about a yard offside before he fed Rooney for the finish into the corner.
14' Attacking play from United results in the ball eventually dropping to Memphis just outside the box and he tries to dig one out and curl it to the far corner but it's high and wide.
20' United still with the majority of the attacking impetus but no shots to trouble Rudd yet.
25' United's possession has looked better today with a lot of one-two's and good interplay. A few United corners and free ki
