A list of puns related to "List of Brisbane suburbs"
Originally from Canberra, so I know that a lot of the 'bad' suburbs they talk about in Canberra aren't actually as bad as they say. I grew up in one of the 'bad' suburbs and it was fine. I currently live in Melbourne and know that the same is true here - the suburbs people yap on about are usually just an opinion and not actually that bad.
My family are relocating to Brisbane to be closer to my terminally ill sister while we still can be.
We've been told to avoid Caboolture and Morayfield. Apparently they're "actually really bad" etc. But should I actually avoid them? I know the rental market up there is bad at the moment, and I'm not sure if we should actually restrict ourselves by making sure we avoid these suburbs.
Hit me with the truth bombs, please.
Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for an electric scooter to purchase? I'm looking to get something that I can use to commute to work and to the gym. It needs to be able to handle the hills of Toowong/Indooroopilly areas. Any input would be appreciated :)
Also, is it easy enough to keep these safe when parked? I have zero experience with them so unsure.
I'm looking to move somewhere in the northeast, USA. I've lived in cities for the last 15 years... I use transit, I commute by bike, but now I'm looking for a still-walkable place with a small backyard with enough room to set up a grill. Ideally near NYC, but really I'm looking for any Suburbs that Don't Suck. Where can I find a list of these?
We all know the traits: built pre-WWII before cars so has mixed use where a corner store isn't made illegal by SFH zoning. A 15 minute community where you don't need a car to buy groceries (but talking about the US, so yes, realistically gonna have to cross a stroad tho). Residential streets are narrow enough to feel tree-shaded and discourage speeding cars while feeling walkable b/c no minimum lot sizes or setback rules. Maybe there's even a rail station not completely surrounded by a sea of asphalt.
Surely there are places like this that aren't gentrified to utter unaffordability with coffeeshops serving hipster brunches, right? Has anyone compiled a list of towns that check off the NJB values, even if only partially and imperfectly because the USA is not the Netherlands?
Do you know any towns that have a momentum of projects redeveloping into such a community?
I don't have the money or the hipster beard to afford the East Village or Williamsburg, but especially if these are the traits that make a place desirable as measured by the most absurd real estate prices in the country, where can I find reasonable communities to live these values?
There was a post about grocery prices going up. Can we have a list of suburbs with the cheapest stores with categories eg
Dandenong Fruits and vegetables: Dandenong Saturday market Meat:The Australian Butcher shop Other groceries milk bread etc: Marmara groceries
Thomastown/lalor: Fruits and veggies: shop opposite to lalor Coles Meat: Butcher shops next to Lalor Coles Other groceries milk bread: IGA Thomastown
For me, it use to be the smell of the Weetbix Factory at the gabba or Milton XXXX Brewery.
Maybe the Toowong tunnel from the RE to the shopping centre
Currently living in Brisbane northern suburbs with my young family (9yo son and partner) and we are considering relocating to Melbourne western suburbs since the house prices have sky rocketed in our area.
Looked into Point Cook and Manor Lakes and the prices don't seem too bad - we would be looking at around $600-700K. Any opinions on these suburbs? Commute times? Quality of schools and infrastructure?
I can work remotely (IT professional) and commute into the Melbourne office a couple of days a week so the distance from the CBD would not be too bad. Partner would need to find new job (health care professional)
Any thoughts on our plan?
Thanks!
Sydney real estate prices have gone bonkers. Please suggest based what is a better option for a young family -
Move to safer areas/suburbs in central coast (Avoca, Terrigal/Erina estates)
Or just forget NSW and move to Brisbane? Any good suburbs for similar price like Kedron/Nundah etc?
Iβm sure thereβs plenty Iβve missed!
Upcoming events include:
Itβs a super open group with room for people of all ages and walks of life! Thereβs channels for gamers (board, console ect), outdoors, investing, IT, exercise, books, memes, movies and tv, pets, parents, job seeking, supporting each other, relationship discussion, politics, cars, sports, art, podcasts, students and more!
To preempt, all of these points are very basic and simple. They come from my time spent peering through this subreddit as well as from some videos on YouTube, but I have absolutely no formal education. So go easy on me, basically! That said, I still want to know what you guys think.
Hey! Looking for someone or somewhere that can make Jalebi. Just want some for a snack but not sure where to look. any recommendations? Thanks!
Might be a dumb question, but can anyone point me to a map of Brisbane with the suburbs marked on it? That I donβt have to zoom into so I can see them? Trying to create a sci fi Brisbane setting and I canβt find a useable map of the suburbs
Cheers

I created a map suburb quiz for Brisbane on sporcle thought r/Brisbane might be interested.
Unfortunately, the map I used was a bit old so I had to draw some of the borders myself so they are a bit sketchy. Especially the Kholo, Karana Downs, Chuwar area but if you know the area you should be able to get it.
Let me know if you find any issues with the quiz and I will update/edit.
Should give you something to do in lockdown.
