A list of puns related to "LegalZoom"
I have a small online store where I sell handmade items. I really havenβt been making much with it(less than $1k this year) because I treat it more as a hobby and really donβt put that much time in it.
About a month ago I decided to take it more seriously and put more time into it (maybe go to vendor events on weekends even) and in that motivation burst, while doing some online research I thought it would be a good idea to make everything official and start an LLC to protect myself.
I mainly decided to use LZ because they seemed to be the most popular and offered registered agent services which is what I needed the most.
My business is run out of my home and I didnβt want my address to be publicly associated with it and thatβs how LZ advertised this to me as well by saying their registered agent service offers a layer of privacy.
I started an account w them and paid for one of their cheapest LLC formation packages with registered agent services. I started filling out their forms online and then took a break. In the meantime some lady from LZ called me and left a voicemail and me thinking it might be something important decided to give them a call back and see whatβs up.
The lady on the phone was different from the 1st one but she was like itβs all good I can help you and proceeded to ask me a bunch of questions and talk to me about my business while viciously upselling me totally unnecessary services. I told her that I donβt want to have my address be public and associated with my business and she reassured me it wonβt.
Honestly, I started feeling uneasy right after that call. But decided to go ahead and stick it out.
They filed everything super quickly despite me having some concerns about some other things on my application. A few days after they filed I started getting junk mail at home and thought it was odd but didnβt think much of it until yesterday.
While looking into the NY publishing requirement I read that the address in the notice needs to match the one on the Secretary of State website, so I clicked and to my horror discovered they filed under my home address.
After being on the phone w them for a long while, they concluded that they need to do an internal investigation for 3-5 business days to see if itβs their fault or the Sec. of Stateβs and if itβs their fault then they would βfix itβ for me at no extra cost.
What a joke. My privacy is compromised now and the best they can do is fix it for freeπ€¦ββοΈI highly doubt the sec

I want to get supplies. And I have the money. But it will make account so much easier if I wait til I have my ein and a business account. But then I have to wait LONGER for those items to get in and get started.
I need to learn some patience haha.
Would love to lower this expense for my trademark filing
Thank you!
I know this comes up a lot. Iβve seen some other recommendations, and have learned what to avoid with LegalZoom, but still think its my best bet.
Thought Iβd ask if anybody has feedback to share.
Thanks
My wife and I need to create a will and a living will after moving to a new state to ensure our one daughter has no problem inheriting our estate when we die. Itβs not a complex set of assets, no house and mostly liquid assets. I am looking at LegalZoom to do this. Anyone have an experience you would share?
Years ago I started an LLC and used LegalZoom. Since then the LLC is now inactive and I have repeatedly tried to cancel my services with LegalZoom through their customer support line. Each time they assured me they will cancel but every year I log in and they are still charging me. One time I called a rep and they said it is impossible for me to cancel their services and if I do not pay I am liable for collection. I am at the end of my wits with this company. What can I do?
Hi all, I am setting up an LLC for my wife's small business (her first) using LegalZoom. As I am going through the process, I see an option for a tax and accounting bundle for a little more than $100 a month (including Quickbooks software). Seemed like a good deal to me, thought I'd ask for others about their experience of the bundle and the comparable cost for other options?
Appreciate your insights.
Hello-
What are the downsides of using Legalzoom for filing a design patent? Legalzoom's rates are pretty competitive in regard to filing a design patent. They are $900 not including the filing fees.
Also, I'm assuming there fees are only for filing your design patent and does not include handling any questions or possible prosecution from the USPTO. If that is the case I'm assuming using an attorney or patent agent would be a smarter route. But what would be a reasonable rate to pay a patent agent to handle your design patent application?
Long story short, we want to start a business involving vehicles and I was considering using LegalZoom to help get everything started. Will LegalZoom help us get whatever insurances we need? Will they know what insurances we need and where to get them or is that something we need to figure out ourselves?
Bonus: share your experience with LegalZoom and if you'd recommend them, why or why not. Thanks
I am a newbie - thinking of owner occupied rental of MBR and large basement.
Has anyone used LegalZoom's subscription for rental / landlord attorneys? At $10-12/months - unlimited 30 minute consults seem cheap. Not sure how worthwhile these consults are though.
I live in MD, but would love to know experience from other states as well.
Thank you for your time.

Just not sure exactly which documents are required for starting an ebay store in California. It is very simplified on legalzoom, but there's still a lot of terms that I don't fully understand and they recommend a lot of products (i get it they are a business), but how many of those are good to have? vs you don't really need it. I'm just trying to start up an ebay store for buying and reselling. Thanks for any advice folks. Here's to the entrepreneur life!
I found someone to take over my lease for an apartment I will not be residing in for a lower cost than the least says. I want to say in writing that I will pay them back the value of the difference in rent with a promissory note but I do not know which type to select on legalzoom. Location: Gainesville, Florida.
I am looking to open an LLC for a small business and was recommended by my dad to use Legalzoom. From what I could see, it looks like they make the process easier, but you are paying a lot more. Is it worth that extra amount to have an easier process? Also, is the βLegal Protect Planβ just basically if youβre sued, they give you legal representation or is it business insurance?
Hi. I was hoping to be able to purchase shares of Legalzoom (LZ) when it started trading today; however, as of 9:54am, when I try to place an order, I get the message:
"Fidelity does not accept market or stop/loss orders for recent Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) before the security begins trading in the secondary market. Please change your order to a limit order."
Could you please explain what this means, why the shares are not available today (the official day of the IPO), and when they will be available? What is the secondary market? And does this apply to all other IPOs?
Sorry for my ignorance! I'm truly grateful to you all for your graciousness in answering newbie questions!
Hi,
I am looking for vendors to file our software patent in the US and just heard that Legalzoom is a good affordable tool. I am now creating my account and in the middle of the process( fees unpaid yet)
Does anyone have experiences that you used it to file your patent or Intellectual assets?
Your feedback would be appreciated a lot.
Anyone know where this can be purchased? I see that it's listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market, but I'm not seeing it on Robinhood. This certainly seems like a decent company to invest in, but I don't have access to many other investing platforms.
Anyone do this?

After 10 years, LegalZoom announced their second attempt at an IPO.
The company, co-founded by former O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro, plans to sell a little more than 19 million shares priced at between $24 and $27 apiece, raising $516 million at the top end of the range..
>At $27 a share, LegalZoom could be valued at more than $5 billion.
LegalZoom is scheduled to price its IPO on June 29 and trade the next day.
2012 IPO
The IPO comes nearly a decade after LegalZoomβs most recent attempt at an IPO. In May 2012, LegalZoom filed to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange. It had sought to raise as much as $96 million with the offering, the prospectus for that deal said. But in 2014, LegalZoom pulled the IPO and sold a stake to Permira, the private-equity firm, for more than $200 million.
Advantages
In 2020, 4.3 million applications were filed for employer identification numbers that are needed to start a business, up nearly 25% from the 3.5 million filed in 2019, U.S. Census Bureau data show.

Many small businesses use LegalZoom; 10% of new limited liability companies, or LLCs, and 5% of new corporations in 2020 were formed through LegalZoom. It helped launch 378,000 businesses last year, up from 292,000 in 2019, the prospectus said. It also helped create 250,000 estate-plan documents.
