A list of puns related to "Leave a Light On (Belinda Carlisle song)"
Neither Shazam nor SoundHound can ID it.
A lot of people on Twitter mentioning it, but no ID.
I've asked the folks who provide the music, but it's just labeled "Heaven is a Place on Earth" in their system.
Recording I made: https://soundcloud.com/rahidz2019/2019-05-22-09-29-09a/s-hpS9U
Edit: Solved by /u/CapitalRadioOne, the remix is by Ruudaman, there's a 30-second sample here: https://music.apple.com/ca/album/80s-hits-remixed-reloaded/315408271
I was at work and unfortunately couldn't hear the chorus, however, i'm pretty sure one part goes: "dreaming by the river..."
It has a catchy melody in the background, as if someone was whistling. It is performed by a male singer and that's all I can tell you really. I listened to it as a kid, so it could be from the 90s or even late 80s. I know it's a far fetch but humming the melody in shazam or whistling it doesn't help at all. Please help me out, it's driving me mad!
Her raspy voice is a favorite of mine. When you listen to a song from Belinda Carlisle, you instantly know who it is from. These are my picks:
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
"To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die"
"Driving in your car, I never never want to go home"
And of course, dem lights flickering in unison at the end, the lyrics would further define the idea of eternal life
##"Oooh baby do you know what that's worth?"
This iconic 1987, Billboard topping, power ballad is one of most unforgettable 80's songs. It is uplifting, happy, catchy, and beautiful. It's a perfect pop song. It almost won the Grammy for Best Female Vocal Performance, but lost to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" by Whitney Houston. Let's be honest, you can't really win against Whitney, but it's still a worthy contender.
You have the opening, with the drum beats in time. And then the verses, slowly building up, to the explosive chorus, and a serene bridge, with the incredible backing vocals that sets this apart. The backing vocals are performed by Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas, songwriter Diane Warren (worked with Whitney Houston, Cher, Celine Dion), songwriter Ellen Shipley, and songwriter Rick Nowels (worked with Lana Del Rey, Lykke Li, The XX, Dua Lipa, and Dido). The synths and the hook continue throughout, providing a lush backing, and giving the illusion that there is a chorus singing along.
It remains Carlisle's biggest, and best selling song, and recently made a return to relevance, for its use in the Black Mirror episode, "San Junipero." Which also, makes it a LGBT anthem as well!
##"They say in heaven, love comes first, we'll make heaven a place on earth.
