I’ve been a builder for three months now, and since I started I can’t help but scan every room I’m in to see how it was built. It’s given me new appreciation and insight into how exactly rooms take form. Even just a simple room with minimal interior construction (skirting boards, plasterboard, light fixtures) can take a team of builders, electricians, plasterers etc. days to finish, due to the sheer amount of precision required.
I’ve visited many country houses in Ireland, and I’m struck by the excessive interior design, I simply can’t imagine how such rooms were constructed in the past with simpler tools, less developed engineering and less labourer skill.
So my question is were these rooms designed and planned by a small number of skilled individuals who then delegated to a staff of general labourers or did large private companies of the time train and supply teams of skilled builders?

This strikes me as very odd. Is it because pistols are still legal under a FAC in NI? Otherwise I cannot think of any reason as to why you wouldn't be able to transport firearms as a licenced owner from NI to England for example. It's not like it's a different nation.
