A list of puns related to "Lather (song)"
Well, I've been doing the Log for a year now, so it's time for a look back at that year.
I counted 31,013 shaves last year.
Holy crap.
Wide tables don't work well on Reddit; it looks to me like anything more than about six or eight columns (at least with this data) just won't show up reliably. It depends on the platform and client you use. So rather than include tables here, I made a public Google sheet with some data. You can see the monthly data across the year in there.
Overall totals:
Yeah, between the five hundred fifty five of us who posted at least one shave, we have well over seven hundred soaps, creams, etc. which we reported using exactly once this last year. Well, with some pretty generous definitions of "lather," since I include things like baked beans, heavy cream, shaves with nothing, not even water, and then a whole bunch of... other stuff... on wildcard Wednesday.
So let's talk growth of subscribers. According to subredditstats, r/Wetshaving had 47,877 subscribers on December 31st, 2020. One year later, we had 103,136, or 115% more. No stats are reported for either January 1st next to these dates, but let's assume the day-to-day change wasn't too wild. That's incredible change over a year. And I know I certainly see a lot of new usernames, a year later.
Now, let's talk SOTD posts. January 2021 saw a mean of 81.74 shaves posted every day, by 223 different authors. December 2021 saw only 65.97 per day, by 186 authors.
As for every day posters... I see only three who posted a shave for every single day of 2021:
But perhaps no surprise, u/djundjila posted the greatest number of shav

My hand cramps up or gets tired before I can get much lather.
Do you have any suggestions? Don't want to go back to the scruff.
I have ideas about a vibrating brush to help whip up a good lather. Have started CADing the idea up for 3d printing, but I'm hoping there is a better way.
Using the sandle wood sampler creams from West coast shaving and a synthetic brush.
I was in the rest room and I did what I usually do and opened the tap then ran my hands under the water before squirting some hand soap onto them to wash my hands, which I then rinse off. The man next to me, on the other hand, walked up to the sink and immediately started applying soap onto his hands then rubbed it in "dry" then opened the tap to rinse it off, which I found very odd! After discussing it with some people there seems to be some split opinions about whether or not to wet your hands before applying soap to them. What's your take on this?
Who actually cut the album into the 4 separate albums? Zappa or Warner?
Iβm a Carpenter apprentice in SoCal and I keep hearing stories of how the lather Union went under and was absorbed by the carpenters Union but I canβt seem to find any backstory online or anywhere else.
I wanna make this a habit again because I havenβt done it in a minute. But thereβs not much in here except euricin, literally thats it and some extra virgin olive oil in the kitchen
##But Iβm serious, what do/should I get?
(does my skin type matter? My body is kind of soft and kind of eh if that means anything, I also have 15$ to my name rn Iβm determined too take my health as well as my skin so help pls)
Which are the signs that warn you about adding more water?
Greetings /r/Wetshaving! The time has finally come to announce the winners of the 2021 Lather Games. It's been a crazy month but there is still a bit of fun to be had on the LG2021 Podcast. Make sure you listen all the way to the end for a special treat :)

Sometime during the Lather Games I ordered samples of every Southern Witchcrafts soap I hadn't tried. Combined with what I already had, most of the regular offerings are accounted for, in addition to a Fougere Nemata sample. There's enough for 2-3 shaves in each of these.
To help with your sample loading, I'm including a Turkish lather bowl I bought on ebay. I'm not using it. So, I'm hoping to send it to someone who will.
For international shavers, I'll cover the first $5 of shipping.

I'm using the Muhle silvertip fibre brush, Stirling silicone shaving bowl, and DR Harris Windsor soap.
I add a few drops of water to the bowl, use my brush to grab a bit of soap and start lathering in the bowl. A few minutes later it looks good and fluffy. My issue comes when I try to apply in to my face. I can't get a good layer to stay on my face and by the time I shave one side of my face, the soap on the other side has seemingly disintegrated into nothing.
Any possible bets as to what the issue is? Maybe the soap?

Selling this 24mm lather brush and B&M Citricuya set.
This brush was hand crafted and finished by me, over at Muninn Woodworks (site and socials to come).
Also open to offers and trades. Trades I'm primarily looking for straights, hones and citrus scented soap sets (tallow/lanolin based, no clay). I'm pretty flexible and open to new things.
Or just me?
Let's kick it off with some relevant Jimmy effing Page.
56 people participated in Citrus Saturday.
Barrister & Mann and Dr. Jon's tied for most used brand with Stirling in third place.
Our new sponsor Red Panda Grooming and their Yuzu Kumquat tied with Martin de Candre Agrumes for most used soap with no clear third place. I'd say this was a clever idea and hope more artisans follow the lead.
Only one person used the actual correct soap for the day. Tsk tsk.

Title says the basic question. Is there a cheaper alternative to Lather & Woods After Shave Balm?
Here is the longer explanation. I recently have gone back to wet shaving after a really long time. I stopped for a number of reasons. Cartridge razors were harsh on my skin. I can't shave more than every 2 or 3 days or i'll get irritation. I also tend to get razor bumps and ingrown hairs on my lower neck area. Because of these issues i've basically kept my beard at a long stubble length using the same electric clippers i use for my head for the last 10 years (I keep my hair very short, #1 blade).
For the past month or so I've been experimenting with different techniques and products to eliminate or reduce the razor bumps and ingrown hairs. I'm still experimenting with different anti-ingrown hair products but I've found that the Lather & Wood After Shave Balm helps a lot. It goes on buttery smooth, does a great job at soothing any irritation, and it seems to last most of the day.
The problem is that I am applying it twice daily (morning and night), not just after a shave. The stuff costs $20 for a small bottle and I've already blown through half a bottle in about a months time. Are there any other balms that are similar to Lather & Wood that don't cost quite as much? I'd prefer unscented.
As always, the data in this post comes from our daily SOTD posts, excluding duplicate and deleted posts. Most people are pretty clear about what's being used, but sometimes I cannot figure it out, and have to put it down as unknown. If you used more than one soap/cream/whatever, only one gets noted in my data.
We saw a Bulgarian artisanal soapmaker show up: Π‘Π°ΠΏΡΠ½ΠΈ ΠΠ°Π½Π°ΡΠΈΡΠ° or Kanatitsa Soaps. Svoboda made another appearance this month, the first time since January. Then, u/sgrdddy taught me that Ach. Brito is actually an abbreviation for one of the founders' names, Achilles de Brito. And one shaver's contribution to Tabac Tuesday was the Lather Log's first inclusion of a BΓΆker soap, and with a BΓΆker razor even.
December saw 2,045 SOTDs posted in r/Wetshaving from 186 different authors, another level month of activity. November saw just 9 fewer shaves, and 11 fewer authors. Mean shaves posted per day was only 65.97, which is about 1.90 fewer per day than November.

A few makers new to the Lather Log showed up this month: Adagio Road, Honey Bee Soaps, Soapy Science, Caswell-Massey, and Rock Rose Apothecary. New releases like Gravefruit II and MΓ©lange have taken off, but... well, were surprisingly surpassed by some old standbys.
