I was really bad at school and I dropped out of high school at age fifteen and generally was a pretty stupid and not interested in learning anything. While pursuing my secondary school diploma I met a remarkable teacher (thanks Frau Reddanz!) who inspired a passion for learning and understanding the world in me. (Mostly by screaming at me passionately). This changed how I looked at anything education related - school really made stuff horribly boring but with passion and a different teaching approach everything actually became super interesting.
So I went on to study history but that was boring too ( university, not the subject) and finally I switched to communication design with a focus on infographics, wanting to make difficult ideas engaging and accessible. During that time Edu Youtube became big and I ended up doing a video as bachelors thesis.
This project became one of the largest sciency channels on YouTube over the course of the following eight years. (It is still pretty funny to me as I'm the most unlikely person too that should explain people anything about anything) Today we have more than 16 million subscribers and 1.5 billion views on our main channel on YouTube and a team of 45 individuals working full time behind the scenes of the channel. We are known for the insane amount of hours we put into every video, which currently is north of 1200+ hours per video. Also we only published 150 videos in 8 years.
For the last decade, I've been working on and off on a book about the immune system, and decided to finish it during the pandemic, as it (obviously) felt like the right time. In the book, I take you on a journey through the fortress of the human body and its defenses and discuss a few diseases and how amazing your defenses are. The book happens to be released today if you want to check it out!

If anyone has game making skill, I want someone to make a game based on the Kurzgesagt game-like sequences. Also an artist with a similar art style to the channel's. The game would be called "Kardashev" And your goal is to get to type omega civilization, controlling the universe. It will be tile-based with buildings and just your colony of people until the dyson sphere is built, giving you Kardashev 2 and endless possibility, and randomly generated alien clans to fight against. Every human era and Kardashev level will progress through the game. That's my idea. (edit I am now aware about u/blackstarforge's game but I don't like the rouge earth concept and i would like a leveling through ages game. maybe blackstar can make a game like my idea with the kardashev scale in mind.)
Hi people, so every year I buy the kurzgesagt calendar. Mainly because I love the art in it. so I was working on taking apart the 12021 calendar to frame the pictures and hang them on my wall, when I got a call and had to go downstairs for a bit. When I returned 15ish minutes later my cat had puked all over them. (not mad at him btw.... shit happens)
So I was wondering if someone has the 12021 calendar for sale. I would even be interested in a used copy, of course if there is no damage to the actual prints.

Interesting to note that The Dark Forest Trilogy, written by Cixin Liu, is highly recommended by 2 particularly high-profile individuals - Zuckerberg and Obama. And now, it is further given credence by Kurzgesagt, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
I'm no longer a fan of Kurzgesagt, given how Gates is not really the good guy that media portrays him to be, but still, interesting that this video about hostile aliens has come out now.
Do I believe the Dark Forest theory per se? Not necessarily. I'm not entirely convinced; but I'm not counting it out, either.
EDIT:
Regarding TDF theory, for me personally, it's either we've been subjugated and are under the powerful protection of those that exploit us for genetic research and whatnot; or, in our area in space, nobody is around that has planet-busting technology (yet).
Regarding Gates, it's really weird how many people jump to defend him. Please watch this video of Gates being sketchy af. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I'm not talking about the 5G stuff. I'm talking about legitimate concerns, such as his ties to Epstein, the sketchy dealings of his various organizations, and his suspiciously crafted persona. It's really not a good idea for humanity to be simping for billionaires. We should hold them to account just like everybody else, even if we use Windows at home and for work, or have otherwise benefitted from some of Gates' work. We can be more discerning and nuanced than that. If we're gonna have serious conversations about the alien phenomenon, our mouths can't be busy sucking Gates'/Musk's/Bezos' d*cks.
I think that kurzgesagt and other similar channels should be in news because of the fact that such information should be avaible not only in the internet, but also in the TV, because are so precious , that they need to be publicly available.

This is the video. It's very interesting and raises some interesting points but the one about radio signals has left me confused.
If our radio signals have degraded so much over 100 light years that they can no longer be told apart from back ground noise, why are we listening for radio signals from other galaxies? Surely the further away they are past the 100 light year radio frequency 'boundary' (I'm not sure if that's a real thing, hopefully it makes sense. I mean past the point that radio signals degrade to the point that they are indistinguishable from inter stellar radiation/noise etc) or are scientists looking for something else? All those radio telescopes are why I've made the assumption I have.
Can anyone correct me please?
Ill be entirely honest. I have no idea why people like this. I didn't know what it was for a while and when my friends told me about kurzgesagt I was interested so they showed me one of their videos. I thought it was bad and gave them a chance and watched something else and to my surprise seems like every video has the same structure and is bad. IMPORTANT this is unpopular opinion im saying this because its my opinion and i hate kurzgesagt.
edit: seems like i should state a reason...
the animation is top tier cant deny the effort but i do not like the way they represent the info. some vids (the ones i watched) present themselves as scientifically accurate and educational even though what they say is either experimental/ hypothetical, sci fi or just completely wrong. I dont like how they act as if everything they say is correct. either make it obvious you are for entertainment or stay scientific.
