A list of puns related to "Ken Mattingly"
Rosenthal thinks a bad series in Atlanta has doomed Mattingly's tenure with the Dodgers. My favorite excerpt from the article:
> Itβs funny. As recently as last Wednesday, the Dodgers were coming off a series triumph over the Nationals, victories in four of their last five games. Greinke was back, looking good. Matt Kemp had a 14-game hitting streak. The team seemed ready to roll.

The convention was that the crew that trained as the backup crew for a given mission would, unless the Astronaut Office had some reason to change its mind, be the prime crew for the mission three after that (which was the first one they could start training for given the launch pace and training schedules).
So the backup crew for Apollo 7 were Stafford/Young/Cernan who flew on 10; the backup crew for Apollo 8 was Armstrong/Aldrin/Haise, and Apollo 11 was Armstrong/Aldrin/Collins (the re-shuffle being because Aldrin was a last-minute fill-in as backup CMP on 8, but got his preferred slot as LMP on 11); the backup crew for 9 were Conrad/Gordon/Haise who flew on 12, etc.
Anyway, getting to my point, the backup crew for 13 were John Young, Jack Swigert, and Charlie Duke. When the prime CMP, Ken Mattingly, was famously grounded for possible exposure to German Measles, Jack Swigert flew in his place. But Mattingly acquitted himself well during the disaster, helping with the power-on procedure that was one of many bits that needed to go perfectly to get his fellow astronauts home alive. And two years later, he flew as the CMP on Apollo 16, exactly the spot that Swigert would have expected to have if it wasn't for the measles. So in the end, the two of them just switched places, and Mattingly got a less stressful mission out of the deal.
Ron Burgundy is playing baseball lol
I have seen Apollo 13 many times itβs one of my favorites. Despite the many times I have seen it I still donβt understand the whole deal with the battery for the power up procedure. Why couldnβt they go over 40 amps and what was ken mattingly talking about when he says they overloaded and which part has the leak? Am I making sense? I also got to ask is there a reason why they didnβt eject the service module after the explosion? It would make more sense to get rid of it given the extra mass it was carrying and it would have made navigating in the pen much easier.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
