A list of puns related to "Kate Bush"
Thereβs so many because all of her songs are so wonderful but if I had to choose one it would be The Wedding List. Itβs so FUN, the story is so interesting, it has so many of her vocal eccentricities all throughout, (love the one βby the heel of my bootieEE!β)
I am trapped in a never ending cycle, please help me before it is too late.
So far I've been really enjoying her "Hounds of Love" album and a few cherry picked songs by spotify from the other albums in the "This Is Kate Bush" playlist. I must say, I've really been sleeping on this extremely unique and talented artist! Would you guys share your personal favourites?
I, and many others, have posted this before multiple times, but I always love seeing everyoneβs different rankings and reasonings, so Iβll never get tired of it. Iβll go first!
Iβll exclude Directors Cut since I find it so difficult do place among her other albums, but feel free to include it in your ranking! I love every single one of her albums, but from worst to best:
The Red Shoes (6/10)
The Kick Inside (8/10)
Lionheart (8/10)
Never For Ever (9/10)
Hounds of Love (10/10)
The Dreaming (10/10)
The Sensual World (10/10)
Aerial (11/10)
50 Words for Snow (Favourite album of all time)
Hey, this is my very first Reddit post. I decided to write this in here just because Iβm a BIG fan of both of these artists, and I canβt help but notice some similarities between them β specially in the way some of their work has been received.
So, from the get go, Iβve always noticed some similarities between Lorde and Kate. Not when it comes to their style or their music, of course, but more when it comes to their personalities and how they are perceived by the public (like, people canβt really put them in a box because theyβre not your ββaverage pop starββ). Both had a massive debut single and album, both have a different (sort of quirky) voice, both are always measured by critics with different standards than the average artist, both have very reclusive personalities and are rarely in the spotlight, both are hugely influenced by Bowie, the list goes onβ¦
Now, everyone knows that Solar Power had a very poor reception, from both critics and fans. Weirdly enough, thatβs another similarity with Kate lol. Iβm talking about her album βThe Dreamingβ, which was critically panned and considered a commercial failure. Many critics at the time trashed the album for being too dense and too different from the rest of Kateβs catalogue, not only that but there was a fair amount of people saying she was trying way too hard to become less commercial and for being βtoo pretentiousβ with the albumβs concept β sounds familiar? lol The only difference from TD and SP is that one got criticized for doing too much while the other got criticized for doing too little.
Now, saying that Solar Power is Lordeβs βThe Dreamingβ implies that her next record is her Hounds of Love. Are we ready? I definitely think she took some notes from the reception and she is coming with fire in her eyes on L4 β and I also think Lorde has the potential to top Melodrama. Iβve seen some really dramatic stans claiming that she was over but people forget that Lorde is only 25 years old. She delivered a cult classic and a critically acclaimed masterpiece before she was even 21. Imagine the work sheβs gonna put out in her 30s β which is, in my opinion, when most artists reach their peak (I mean, look at Taylor, Lana, Caroline Polachekβ¦) . Like, can yβall belive the stuff sheβs gonna create once sheβs finally confident and experienced enough to produce records by herself? Iβm already excited just thinking about it.
Kinda of off topic but another artist who got compared a lot with Kate is Tori Amos. The

So, I'd like to know what song would you define as her darkest? Whether in lyrical theme or sound.
For me, I'd currently say it's 'Breathing'. That song sounds so haunting and dystopian while feeling sadly relevant to the world we're living in today. I always have to take a minute to gather myself after listening to it.
Is it possible to listen to Aerial Tal and not end up with the biggest grin on your face? It just makes me so happy everytime I hear it.
What are some unpopular opinions you have?
Iβll start by saying that while I love RUTH, it wouldnβt even make my top five on HOL.
Under Ice is one of her best songs
Iβll have to think of some more
I thought about this the other day, I wonder if Gen Z and millennial music lovers regard Kate as an innovator and truly influential in the same way that BjΓΆrk is. I often see people praising how daring and innovative BjΓΆrk is and I don't often see the same said for Kate. Maybe it's the fact that BjΓΆrk's music is more futuristic and experimental whereas Kate's is more traditional in the realms of art rock and pop. I use Bjork as an example since they are so often placed next to each other. Not that they should be compared obviously, I just worry that Kate's music will not have the same impact on the current generation as it did in the past.
For me, I basically like a mix.

Hello! I'm looking for new music, and specifically want to find music with an ethereal and line of heavenly quality like that or Vespertine by BjΓΆrk and Aerial by Kate Bush. Other songs I've found with a similar sound are Bless Me by Moses Sumney and Halcyon Days by Siobhan Donaghy. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!
2011 was quite literally a wild year for music, Kesha was singing about being a cannibal, Rihanna was having sex in the air, loving the smell of it and Adele was rolling in the deep. In between all this vocal and lyrical violence, suddenly there was Kate Bush, quietly musing, humming and singing in and about a winter wonderland.
50 words for snow explores the world of snow and ice, with brilliant nuance that can only be delivered by the one and only kate bush. A lot of tracks are rather understated, which allows for an ambience where subtlety can be both delivered and received well. The songs on this album are long, the shortest being a whopping 6 minutes and 50 seconds. This allows every song to flourish in its own right as the album explores themes of existing truly alone, the fragility of being and the juxtaposition between serenity and silliness, all tied back together to the central theme of snow.
I don't want to write too in-depth about the songs on this album, because I believe part of the joy of this album is exploring them yourself. There is a lot to listen for and it's really an album that rewards (but doesn't require) active listening.
Snowflake, the opener, is a beautiful example of how Kate can turn something very simple into something very beautiful. The song is a duet with her son, using his pre-mature sound to highlight the short existence of a snowflake as it falls. Misty, arguably the wildest song subject she has ever sung about, which is saying a lot, is about her sleeping with a snowman. What's absolutely wild is that it doesn't just embrace that concept to the fullest, it also genuinely succeeds in making you feel sad when the snowman isn't there anymore the next morning. The final song I want to highlight is Among Angels, which makes true on its heavenly promises with a fantastic piano ballad.
Overall I feel like this album is extremely under-discussed, in discussion's about kate bush and especially in discussions about pop music from the early 2010s. Kate Bush is such a wonderfully talented songwriter, while maybe not in her artistic peak anymore, she is still really really good. She knows how to best use the strengths of her older voice as well as the voices of her collaborators (her son and Elton John make an appearance). This combined with lyrics that most songwriters could only dream off make this album super satisfying to listen to. Overall, a fantastic album, that I will definit
... keep reading on reddit β‘I've been fascinated for a while by the haunting voices of Trio Bulgarka enriching several tracks by Kate Bush. They provided backing vocals to standout tracks such as "Deeper Understanding" and "The Song of Solomon".
While listening to c's "This story is dedicated to all those cyberpunks who fight against injustice and corruption every day of their lives", there was something oddly familiar in the mix of "Adieu/Into You/Kalimankou Denkou". A bit of googling uncovered that "Kalimankou Denkou" is a famous song performed by Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, also known as the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir. More searching unearthed several other tracks from "This story..." which have mixes and samples of this unique female Bulgarian singing tradition.
c has included tracks by Kate Bush in her Spotify playlists and I wonder if this is how she became intrigued by the Bulgarian vocal sounds, later incorporating them in her own mixes.
It certainly makes me appreciate c even more as a curator of sounds, and I hope to hear one of her DJ sets in 2022 ^^
USPS media mail shipping is $5 for the first 2 records and $1 for each extra record. Grading is media/sleeve and offers are welcome.
I'm a bloke and I thought I would be the only who might like her music in my laddish friend group. I was never ashamed I just thought it was my thing. I showed "army dreamers" to one of my mates and now he's a listener too. Can't fight good taste ig.
Iβve never been someone who gets attached to artists before, and this last year I discovered Kate Bush. In one year Iβve listened to her more than any other artist in the last six years (according to Spotify) Iβm not sure what it is about her and her music that resonates with me so much- I feel like a lot of the times I donβt really even know what sheβs talking about, even if it makes me sob or laugh or smile. Every song, not to mention album, feels like it has so much depth to it. how do I start to understand her music and itβs meaning!!!!
