It would take Abbott until December 1660 to become Prime Minister, even though the election was held in June, because of Stuart's opposition. His delay made Stuart extremely unpopular, however this will often be the case with the Presidents.

In January, Willites formed their own party, consisting of 126 Whigs and 18 Tories.

Abbott would face a very difficult first year as President Stuart would start something known as "Parliamentary Blackout" where he would veto any bill passed by parliament in protest with the current Prime Minister, even if he supported that particular bill. Abbott was very anti semetic and would propose a Bill rebanning the Jews from England. This would pass the house 397-206, with 9 abstain. Willis would even vote aye, but Stuart, despite personally supporting it, vetoed. (Veto can be overridden with 409 votes)
Abbott wanted a reason to impeach the President so he talked with Tory leader John Buchanan to help him. Buchanan said he would only help if war would happen with France under the Presidential candidate Whigs would back after. Abbott couldn't accept this but did agree to framing Stuart for treason. He wrote a letter with a faked Stuart signiture on it to the French Monarchy. He asked Louis XIV to invade England to remove Abbott and he would give them american colonies for it. Abbott believed the navy of England was good enough to prevent a French invasion and beleived that they could defend their English colonies by stationing large amounts over there. 3 weeks later, still nothing had happened, which worried abbott, so he brought up impeachment anyway for Treason because he didn't allow the country to stablise by vetoing everything. This would fail to pass 408-204, 1 vote short of what was needed. Tories would be split, and Willites against. Many tories made up thier minds on the day.
His next solution would be to get people to kill Stuart, he had a lot of guards, but the country hated Stuart at this point. Large parts of the army charged to do this, but he had left the Buckingham House and
