... keep reading on reddit ➡I'll have a 4 hour layover at Istanbul Atatürk Airport between two Turkish Airline flights. I'll be traveling with my five year old son. I had a good impression of Turkish Airline and the airport when I booked the flight. However, since then I have met people who had bad experience with Turkish Airline. I am not sure if they came to the same airport though. In one case, a friend couldn't find the information for the connecting flight on time and was made to purchase a new ticket because she missed the connecting flight. She claims, the gate information was never published.
So, what do you guys think? Is four hours enough to be able to go through security, change gates and catch the connecting flight with a little kid? Is there anything I should know that might be helpful?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for your response. I feel a lot better now about flying Turkish Airline.
Apologies if this has been asked before. I used the search but didn't come up with anything.
Long shot here. I've read conflicting reports that visas are still available on arrival at certain Turkish airports despite the fact they've officially been phased out. What's the situation at at Istanbul Atatürk? I'm an Irish citizen, if that's relevant. I'm looking for an option that doesn't involve using the Turkish e-Visa website as that only accepts payment via credit card and I don't own one. Is it possible to get a visa in person at the embassy?
Cheers.
Hey guys, I'm an American student studying in Istanbul next semester (Yeditepe Üniversitesi). My flight will be arriving on a Monday at 1550 (3:50pm), I expect once we're through customs I'll actually be able to depart from the airport about an hour later. I've been told the best way to get to Kadıköy is to take a metro from airport to "ZEYTİNBURNU interchange station" (which I think is on the red line) and then from Zeytinburnu take the blue tramway to Karakoy. From Karakoy I can take a ferry to Kadikoy? Is this as easy as it sounds? Is obtaining an Istanbul Card easy and will I be able to use it for the ferry as well?
Thanks in advance.
I do not have the right times to take the tour from Turkish Airlines. I figure with boarding and security I have 4 hours of free time out of the airport. This will be my first time in Turkey but not my last. Any suggestions?
