A list of puns related to "Introducing Sparks"
Hey, neighbours! As most of you know, I've been a bit of a recluse lately, hard at work designing MIGRATECH's latest robotics project: Spark-E!
Spark-E is an eco-friendly robot designed for one purpose: to be a good dog. Need a hug? Want to give a pupper some scritches? Have a hankering for a good game of catch with a magnetic frisbee? You can now download the Spark-E app on any phone and use it to request some time with Spark-E. The app lists available activities, and it accounts for Spark-E's time to travel from its current location to you (along with a healthy buffer to receive some pets along the way). Your request will enter the queue, and the app will notify you when Spark-E is nearby and ready to play!
NOTES
Corporate and product lingo aside, I'm really stoked to see how LDP interacts with Spark-E. As of this post, Spark-E is roaming the neighbourhood, waiting to play!
EDIT: Spelling errors.
The Noble Science Academy will be hosting our first tournament this June! It'll be small, but hopefully a great time.

Spark 3.0 release comes with a lot of exciting new features and enhancements. Some of the key highlights of the new release are Adaptive Query Execution, Dynamic Partition Pruning, Disk-persisted RDD blocks served by shuffle service. There are also significant improvements in pandas API and upto 40X speedups in invoking R user-defined functions. Scala 2.12 is Generally Available while Scala 2.11 is removed in the latest version.
On top of the open source release, we have added over 700 patches to provide various value-added capabilities for our customers. These features are already available with Spark 2.4 version on the Qubole platform and now they can be used with Spark 3.0 clusters as well.
In the following sections, we will dive deeper into some of the supported functionality
Adaptive query execution (AQE) changes the Spark execution plan at runtime based on the statistics available from intermediate data generated and stage runs. The optimized plan can convert a sort-merge join to broadcast join, optimize the reducer count, and/or handle data skew during the join operation.

Hi folks,
We are happy to share with you the Kotlin Spark API weβve been working on: https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin-spark-api.
Right now it is in beta stage, and we need your feedback before we create a pull request to the official Apache Spark repository.
Why Kotlin Spark API? While you can use Kotlin with the existing Apache Spark Java API, Kotlin Spark API significantly improves the developer experience. For instance, this API allows you to use such Kotlin features as data classes and lambda expressions.
On top of that Kotlin Spark API adds some helpful extension functions.
Use withCached
to perform arbitrary transformations on a Dataset without it being recalculated, and donβt worry about your Dataset unpersisting at the end.
Kotlin Spark API also allows you to have unnamed tuples that you can call with c()
function that takes a variable number of arguments. You can add these to one another like in Python.
Check out the Quick Start Guide to quickly set up all the needed dependencies using Maven or Gradle: https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin-spark-api/blob/master/docs/quick-start-guide.md
Check out some code examples to get an idea of what the API looks like: https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin-spark-api/tree/master/examples/src/main/kotlin/org/jetbrains/spark/api/examples
Try it and share your feedback with us either in #kotlin-spark, or via GitHub issues: https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin-spark-api/issues.
Hello,
We are two Magic the Gathering players with backgrounds in both podcasting and writing who have taken on the task of reviewing the War of the Spark novel by Greg Weissman in detail.
As mentioned in other reviews on this subreddit, the novel is.... not optimally written. However, we go into detail as to what has gone wrong. Some highlights:
The author is not so much telling a story, but describing what a WAR movie would look like in his head. Many descriptions and details are just left up to the reader to fill in.
The author provides insanely large info dumps, most of which we probably don't need (the Kaladesh and Dominaria backstory in detail, for example) but also leaves out very important information (such as what the God Eternals look like).
Tayo is introduced as our reader surrogate, but very little detail is described to him (like Harry Potter). Instead, we're treated to pages upon pages of information outside of the story.
Viewpoints constantly shift within chapters. In one Chandra chapter, the viewpoint slips and she appears to converse with narrator!
Action sequences are described in an absurdly passive tense, almost in a hyporethcial manner with lengthy passages describing what characters "would" do, over and over. For example,
"She'd wait for her moment, then duck out from behind one of Teyo's diamond-shaped shields, dodge two or three eternals and then stab one that hadn't seen her coming.. the creature would fall instantly and Rat would race away."
This is just the tip of the iceberg, but we go into much more detail in the show itself. Feel free to read along with us week by week, or just binge through the episodes instead of having to read the novel yourself!

Hi yall,
I just want to take some advice from others DM because i'm kind of novice about it (DnD 3.5).
My problem :
I made my own campaign with a lot of good stuffs i guess (with lots of characters, stories, plots with betrayal and important choices).
My players gave me good feedback about all that (it's important to me to know what they really like the most).
By the way, i'm a huge magic the gathering fan and during one of our quest, one of my player was kind of "cursed" by Ashiok. His dreams are eaten during the night (i estimate 8 sessions before his character turns mad because of the lack of dreams).
So i introduced others plans and Ravnica... My players need to go to Ravnica to remove the curse but when they ll get there they'll meet the character from War of the Spark, to join the gatewatch and save the multiverse from Nicol Bolas (i ll probably follow the book about Wots and use all my knowledge about this plan).
In this case, it answers the question about "why Ashiok War of the spark card exists".
My player doesn't know Magic the gathering universe (so i made them join a guild of their choice, after descriving them, they ll stay together tho). They'll get homebrew skills during this quest.
My question is :
Is this a good idea to follow a story that already has been written ?
I'm kind of scared about it. I feel like i move on a huge fish that i can't handle myself. A lot of DnD book have already been written about this universe.
And isn't that weird to change between a homebrew campaign to a campaign all written ? I love that my players have choice but that won't be the case in mtg (just a huge fight/a bit of lore).
NB : if you have any items to make a Ravnica map on maptool (tokens), it should be very cool.
Thanks for your answer !
I'd like to introduce everyone to Helpflow, a Help Desk package that can drop into almost any Laravel based project.
My current side project is getting to a point where we wanted a support desk to make handling support requests easier but nothing out there worked or integrated into Laravel Spark like we wanted to as ideally we didn't want people being redirected off to another system but to be able to create a support ticket from their main account within our Spark application so here we are!
We hope other people may find a use for it so decided to release it for a nominal yearly fee to help cover development costs but this gives full access to the codebase and all updates for that year.
If anyone is interested you can check it out at https://sellmygit.com/products/helpflow-laravel-support-desk, a small site we also put together to handle the billing and selling of this and any future items we decide to sell.
If anyone has any questions or feedback please do shoot me a message!

Last year, I posted an idea to Reddit that received a considerable amount of attention: Reddit can enable "occupy" movements to permanently shift power from corporations to people and move the world into a new era. Here's how. The community response was overwhelmingly positive; clearly, I am not the only one who wants to see change in the world's power structure.
Since then, I've assembled a team of volunteers via the original Reddit post and through my own personal network. I left my position as an executive at a Fortune 500 four months ago to focus my attention on this project, and things are speeding up toward a late Q1/early Q2 launch of "The Spark."
Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit have already been used by people to organize and impact the global state of affairs. The Arab Spring, SOPA/PIPA, Foxconn workers' conditions... the list goes on. The goal of this project is to expedite this power-rebalancing by providing a tool explicitly designed for this purpose. Our platform will enable people to not only decide which issues deserve widespread attention, but to then agree on the best solutions and take collective action to affect real-world change. To make this all possible, we created a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization (501(c)(3) registration pending) to manage implementation.
Firstly to Reddit: my sincerest thanks and admiration for your enthusiasm and dedication to what we're creating. Our team now consists of:
