A list of puns related to "Intelligence and personality"
One of the things I find the most fun about DnD is how you approach a situation. I like figuring out the smartest/creative way to clear the problem.
I also enjoy trying to figure out the greater plot or figuring out the political landscape within a city. Basic stuff like: A hates B. Someone is trying to kill B. Strong possibility A is the culprit.
My problem is that there have been situations where my party asks me "How could you figure that out, when your intelligence is 8?".
This is the thing I struggle with. Wisdom and Intelligence seems to be the only stats that "restricts" your roleplay. With the rest of the stats, it is rolls that determine your actions. Low charisma doesn't mean that people dislike you, it just means you have a harder time when rolling for charisma checks. A low charisma character can be more liked than a high charisma character, just because of how he roleplays his character.
Having low intelligence or wisdom seems like a permanent debuff that makes you unable to roleplay your character in an intelligent way. And that saddens me. If I want to play a fighter or barbarian, do I really have to dump my best stats into intelligence and wisdom to be able to roleplay my character how I want him?
My best example is my rouge/bard character. He dumped his best stats into dex/charisma. This character uses disguise magic, pretending to be a noble and a merchant. When we arrive at bigger towns, he usually tries to mingle in with the other nobles. His high charisma helps him with deception, persuasion and intimidation rolls. Through lies and deception he manipulates the nobles to gain power and favors in the city. But his intelligence is 8. So I've gotten comments from my group that it seems weird when my character acts in this "mastermind" way, but he is basicly "stupid" because of his low int.
