A list of puns related to "Ibrahim ibn al Walid"
I know he was an amazing commander, but i have have seen lots of people rank him amongst the ranks of Napoleon, Caesar and Alexander.
Was he really that great? From what i understand both the byzantine and sassanid empires where basically exhausted to a unbearable point when the arabs invaded. As they fought eachother in a devastating 26 year long war.
Also a lot of the commanders he faced made lots of mistakes which often cost them a win. And a lot of the early battles he fought was in desert enviroments where the arab forces had massive advantages.
So how amazing was he as a tactician and how does he compare to the other great commanders of history? I would love your take
"Narrated Abu Al-Zinad: Khaled bin Al-Walid, when he was dying, cried, and said: โI found such-and-such a crawl, and there is no inch in my body except in which there is a blow with a sword, or a throwing of an arrow, and here I die on my mattress, like a camel, so may the eyes of the cowards never taste sleep"

Khaled was one of the greatest military generals in history, and one of the few that never lost a battle, he managed to defeat armies double and triple his army's size, and was efficient at outflanking his enemies
He was named by the prophet "the drawn sword of Allah", he couldn't die in battle, so no one could brag about breaking Allah's sword
He spent most of his life seeking martyrdom, but didn't win it on battle
The prophet peace be upon him said :
โWhoever sincerely asks God for martyrdom, God will raise him to the ranks of the martyrs, even if he dies on his bedโ Muslim reported
Salam bros and sisters.
In my opinion Khalid ibn al Walid is one of the best if not THE greatest general in history.
I just finished part two of the Battle of Chains which also includes the Battle of the River. Inshallah you guys will enjoy them.

This is my personal attempt of a translation of an elegy by Khalid Ibn Al-Walid after hearing of the death of his son. It is translated line by line from the original, recited here in Arabic. I recommend reading the translation as it is recited.
Over my features a flood of tears had ran its course
And in my inflamed heart embers had been set alight
And shattered was my heart the day I was told he died
And as my tears poured over, my world was full of strife
And my misery has injured me, and my sorrows compounded
And by God do not ask me of my sorrowed heart
Whensoever night may come, I will cry for him
And no ease nor joy will come from the light of day
He was like the moon, exceeding in brilliance
Eclipsed he was, his light smothered
And he was generous in giving, not caring for scarcity
And if combat drew long, he did not know fear
Imprisoned by the steed of the traitorous villains, he was
And they had rid him of his sword and spear
For O my misery, had I been present
By a running sword their two sides would have become one
Rotting corpses amidst battle, they would have become
Amidst the valley and the mountain, carrion feed they would have become
By the truth of the one whose Quraysh pilgrimaged to his house
And sent the chosen one, Taha, the aim of destiny
That I slay of them a thousand lords amidst battle
If the beneficent one allows and I last.

... keep reading on reddit โกSalam folks,
The following video is an account of the Battle of the Chains and the Battle of the River. These are the first two dramatic battles against the Persians and show the strategic and military genius of Khalid ibn al Walid as well as the courage of the early Muslims.
With only 18,000 soldier volunteers equipped with light armor and weapons they marched on the most powerful empire in the world.

I combined two previous videos I made into one full story. If you like it please like and share. It really helps out the channel.
Also, feedback is appreciated.
Jazakum allahu khair.
"...he [Khalid ibn al-Walid]* will not spare any one of them [apostates]* he can gain mastery over, (but may) burn them with fire, slaughter them by any means, and take women and children captive; nor shall he accept from anyone anything except Islam." The History of al-Tabari, Volume X: The Conquest of Arabia
* I added the square brackets and the text inside of them to make the passage easier to understand
I mean, last time the rebels showed any major weakness (the 2017 Daraa offensive) they launched a big offensive and seized Tasil and several other towns, but during this offensive, they don't seem to be trying anything at all.
Any ideas why they haven't taken the opportunity? Or could it be that they know that the SAA are eventually gonna come for them too, and are just fortifying until then?
I was reading a book about the early Islamic conquests and came across this guy. He was very interesting and definitely my favourite historical figure in the book.
Salam 3laykum.
I was reading about the authenticity of the Qur'an and found that a leader of the Quraysh, Walid ibn al Mughira (a non-Muslim), had said that the Qur'an's language use was miraculous, and that it was "superior to all other discourses". Unfortunately I have yet to find a source for this comment. Can one of y'all help me?
Apparently he never lost a single war, even though he is stated to have fought hundreds of battles and was often outnumbered against the Byzantines...
But how capable was he compared to other top generals like Napoleon, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan or even Scipio?
In my opinion Khalid ibn al Walid is one of the best if not THE greatest general in history and I am not exaggerating.
I made this video on the Battle of the Chains against the Sassanid Persians to demonstrate his skill.
I am planning on making another video in the future on the Battle of Walaja which, while not his most important battle, is the one that defines him as the greatest general.
Feedback would be appreciated.
What's the sunni perspective on the death of Khalid ibn Al Walid's son?
