A list of puns related to "Honing oil"
Bought a cheap replica Lansky style kit from Aliexpress. Didnβt come with any oil, should I be using oil or some other form of lubricant ? New to this game. Thanks
Is it okay to use baby oil on a stone to clean it? I don't want to mess anything up lol.
im looking to replicate the smell of this it reminds me of my grandfather and im hoping somone knows what some of the ingredients are before i continue down my current path of buying any oil i find and smelling it.
or if you know some recipes that get close to this that would be appreciated.
also this is not my picture but my can is the same.
Hey Swap.
Selling off my knife stuff so this Lansky diamond system has got to go. I bought this system to get into sharpening a while back but have only used it on 3 knives. I purchased the system with some extra pieces (1000 Ultra Fine Stone, Sapphire Polishing Hone, Desk Clamp, Honing Oil). I would rate the diamond stones and the ultrafine stone a B for a bit of use but the sapphire stone and honing stone are rated an A since they have not been used at all.

Price includes G&S fees plus shipping.
Please do not leave any notes or comments in paypal.
I would only like to ship within the US but if the buyer is willing to handle shipping fees and take all responsibility for lost packages then I will ship worldwide.
If you call dibs but try to negotiate on the price afterwards then I will move on to the next buyer.
Thanks for reading through the post. Cheers.
The only reason I'm writing this is to make people and ncsoft aware of that, this honing oil system is so terrible. I have heard of friends that they tried 13 times, 11 times and myself tried it 5 time after giving it up and not bothering anymore. Sure there are people who got it on first try but if there are people wasting so much material and gold to succeed one time it's not worth the gamble.
I'm quite sad because this system could have be a big good system for most of the people but as it seems it's only catered for old veterans who have like 10k materials lying around. It's like HR, it could be great for everyone but they decided it to only be good for a very low % of the population. And I don't mind people getting rewarded for players who are playing since release and spending money, but we would appreciate events and system where everyone can profit out of it.
I was planning to do 4 dailies every weekend on 5 chars with this new system but it seems like I don't need to waste my time on this.
Suggestions would be like, reduce the amount you get and increase success rate, so you can at least craft 1 oil a month. Or reduce cost back to 5/5/5/5. I think most people would agree on that. We need and want system and events for everyone, where everyone can profit.
Thanks for listening to my little rant, hopefully we can change this system which is supposed to be a permanent system.
TLDR: The honing oil is shit, don't do it, please change thanks
Now that the weeklies box gives 5~15 Honing Oils... did they buff the rate of success? I had 3 tries today and I did get two oils from it but if not what the actual hell. 80% decrease in honing oils omegalul
so some tutorials on honing say use honing oil and some to completely submerge the stone in water for a while, is one of these better or does it not make a difference?
I can smell it on me even when I'm not honing for a day. I put on perfume but now I just smell like a hooker dipped in oil. Any advice?
This is going to sound strange but here it goes. I learned how to sharpen my own kit in culinary school and have done so ever since. I picked up a large container of Hall's Pro-edge two years ago and have been using it for a while. My question is: does petroleum based honing oil ever go bad?
I might be worrying over nothing but better safe than sorry when it comes to food prep/tools.

Does anyone have any good substitutes for honing oil when using an aluminum oxide honing stone for chisels? I have heard of dish soap and wd40 as alternatives. Does anyone have strong feelings one way or another?
I just bought [this kit] (http://lansky.com/index.php/products/std-3-stone-system/) used, but it didn't come with any oil. Is oil a necessity when sharpening with these stones?
