A list of puns related to "Homophonic translation"
Bonus: if there's also a word for when this effect happens across two languages.
For instance, in Japanese the word for love is Daisuke. I noticed you can take the words Dye and Skii, put them together, and it will sound like the word Daisuke.
Another example of this in Japanese is the word Gaijin which means foreigner. This can also be broken down phonteically using the english words Guy Jean.
Hi all,
First of all, Happy New Year! I wish you all the best and hope that this coming one will be better than the two previous ones. Here's a gift to keep up the spirit of those making the best out of the situation.
In short, this is my modification to the TOPIK 6000 most frequent Korean words list which takes the most common words used in publications and internet articles, etc..
For those that do not know, TOPIK is short for "Test of Proficiency in Korean"; the organization that devises the Korean language proficiency test, equivalent to the JLPT and TOEFL.
As promised in my last set of posts, I worked a bit on the list to correct the English translations, but I am open to further feedback.
To avoid the triggering the filters, I will post the link in the comments.
About me:
I am a non-Korean, non-learner who has learned Japanese for over a decade who wanted to get what this mysterious language called Korean was about, understand some of the basics and come out slightly wiser.
Last November, I discovered Hangul and managed to learn how to read it fairly easily. A list of words was a good way to practice reading with some actual examples while knowing what they mean.
This what caused me to come across the TOPIK list.
View on Korean writing system:
Should be clear by now and this list should help those that share my view, namely that Korean writing makes less sense and leaves more room for ambiguity with the Hanja removed.
The decision was taken following the Korean war by both the communist dictatorship in the North under Kim Il Sung and the non-communist dictatorship in the South under Park Chung-hee for mostly nationalistic reasons against the advice of much of Korean academia.
Before this, the so-called Korean mixed script was used which employed Hangul for native Korean words and Hanja for Sino-Korean words.
Hangul has an interesting local history and is concise, allowing it to be easily picked up. I love how simple it is, and recognize that orthography has been amended to make sure it keeps at least some consistency with its original roots in Hanja.
It was however never meant to completely supplant Hanja which had been a part of Korea for over a millennium. Aside from over 50% of the vocabulary, Korean names, place names, expressions, cultural concepts were not just written in Hanja but were themselves Sino-Korean words.
Essentially a large part of the identity of the Korean language was ripped out for shortsighted,

“English is, bluntly, ugly,” Professor Gishpior Kytanealri said, the Magaavish instructor using the language in question. “Its grammatical structures are similar enough to ours and most of the phonemes match pretty well, but unlike Magaavish, it is a mishmash of over half a dozen root languages. All of which were arguably worse. And those are just the languages English draws from; there are plenty more around Earth that were entirely separate. And worse. German comes from one of the same roots as English. French comes from a different common root with English. Both are hideous to learn. I know, I tried. Formal and familiar address, intrinsically gendered objects, it’s the stuff of linguistic nightmares,” he said with a shudder. “And don’t even get me started on Finnish, or on languages like Japanese, which doesn’t even have an alphabet. Same for Chinese, which comes in both traditional and simplified written forms for ostensibly the same language. English is a cakewalk compared to all of that.”
“Sir, isn’t English one of the most widely spoken languages in the Orion Tetrad?” asked one of his students, also in English as per the requirements of the class.
“One of the most widely spoken, yes, it is, and that’s mainly because its spoken form (aside from a handful of homophones) is surprisingly straightforward compared to its written form. But if you asked anyone aside from the Terrans or maybe the Vastruuri to actually write in English, they would give you something that looked like it was written by a «five year old». Even humans themselves need «six or more years» to become really proficient in their written language.”
The professor paused there for the anticipated uproar from his students. Cries of “impossible”, “ridiculous”, and “that can’t be right” came from around the lecture hall. He could hardly blame them; Magaavish could usually be mastered — full mastery, not just proficiency — in less than half that, even to non-native speakers. He let the class work the worst of the outburst out before raising a hand to silence everyone.
“Sir, doesn’t it only take the Vastruuri «three years» to master English in its written form?” one student asked.
“It does, but they’re linguistic prodigies. They master English faster than they do Vastruuri, but theirs is a highly nuanced and complex language. It’s elegant and precise. Magaavish
... keep reading on reddit ➡Hello there, I'm interested in Mandarin and I wish to learn it. I've heard many people saying things about how hard and hellish it is to learn this language. However, my first impression when investigating a little bit about it is that people often exaggerate.
I want opinions from those who learn it/speak it but let me elaborate first. Keep in mind that this comes from someone who already speaks both Spanish and English at proficient levels, as well as Japanese at JLPT N3 —which I want to make comparisons with.
The Hanzi
While it is true that it's a massive number of them that you must learn, they are actually intuitive and the more you learn, the more you can understand. While in Japanese the number of Kanji you need to learn to be proficient is lower, nearly all Japanese Kanji have at least two if not more different readings (音読み and 訓読み, On'yomi and Kun'yomi).
This can be quite confusing as there are no strict rules about what reading is used in each word, as there are multiple On'yomi readings (the readings used in compound words, those with more than one character) and, sometimes, different compound words might use the Kun'yomi reading instead, which is used for simple words. It's a way more messy and complicated system in my opinion.
In Chinese, however, the Hanzi act in more straightforward and clear ways, as almost all of them only have one meaning and one reading. Another thing that is also worth mentioning is that, unlike Japanese, Chinese doesn't have any secondary or tertiary writing alphabetical or syllabic system like Hiragana or Katakana in Japanese, both of which allow to phonetically spell all words without the ideograms.
This makes Chinese harder to read if one is not literate enough in the necessary number of Hanzi. Japanese forgives you when writing in the sense that you can write a word which kanji you don't know in Hiragana and still be understood, and there's also Furigana when reading, which is the kanas written next to the Kanji to clarify the reading (this is commonly found in children's books, mangas, or texts with specifical terms).
Chinese doesn't have any of this (Unless you want to consider Pinyin as such). Nonetheless, I believe that although harder, it's easier to advance and learn more in Chinese compared to Japanese.
Unlike Japanese and its more forgiving writing system (and fewer used characters), Chinese forces you much more to learn its Hanzi, and their straightforward nature means that you don't need to me

Hi guys,
To sum up: It looks like taking his name James Vaughn Jr through the Tabula Recta table using Keyword AdolfHitler then using homophonic substitution cipher such as his 340 key produces interesting results.
I am looking to have my work checked out on the Zodiac Z13. I feel that I have some interesting observations on the code.
Here we go.
As mentioned previously I believe the answer/name to be JamesVaughnJr
The letter containing his name was mailed on April 20, 1970. Hitlers birthday.
I used am using keyword: ADOLFHITLER for this
I first tried using a standard Viginere table and translated the name into this:
AEQOJMATNBLQ
First two letters broke correctly but still wasn't enough so I used/tried using a table called the "Tabula Recta".
Very similar to the Viginere table but you get slightly different results.
AEAPXCINRLEAI --
AEAHXCINRLEAU -- Forgot how I got this one actually.
ADAPXCINRLEAU --
Notice the A in the second to last place is in the correct spot now.
The full code looks like this:
https://preview.redd.it/7flzuqjznea81.png?width=822&format=png&auto=webp&s=78f49d993453b2681a894f03bb14375e8f0f2873
Notice the symmetry from the N to the N in the middle.
I will take this one: ADAPXCINRLEAU
Notice the LE at the end. Now I used the 340 key he used in the Z340 a homophonic substitution cipher.
https://preview.redd.it/1oa9rzxaoea81.jpg?width=1728&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc063c76087b226f1e016bcb5a398ce999283193
Notice that the "L" becomes the upside down "T" in the code.
Notice that the E then becomes the N.
I tried using the key from the Z408 he used but no luck there so if anyone is able to find anything from that please comment.
Other intersting things of note:
You will see what almost looks like 888 within circles. My theory is that this could be an interpretation of his acts on the behalf of God. 888 is an old number for Christ. Not sure just theorizing.
Notice the position of the "N". N is the 14th letter of the alphabet.
Theory: N = 14 followed by two 8's. = 1488 = Neo Nazi number This is symmetrical with the flip side of the code which is 8841.
Notice the K and M in the middle. This guys favorite book was Main Kampf written by Adolf Hitler. If you switch the K and M is becomes the initials of Main Kampf = MK
14 = 14 words (however not sure when they started using this, but the number 14 is on the Halloween card the Zodiac s

Last time we reviewed how the scene of DougieCoop’s arrival at the Jones house not only echoed earlier scenes in Season 3 and Season 2, but also featured structural similarities with Lynch’s Mulholland Dr. film as well.
This structure’s constant repetition identifies it, in our analysis, as representative of a Primal Scene. Based on our criteria established thus far, Primal Scenes originally appear in either FWWM or the Missing Pieces.
And actually, we already did identify a “primal” source for the scene of DougieCoop’s arrival at the Jone’s house, back at the Silver Mustang when Slot Lady gave DougieCoop the finger.
Laura’s rejection of James in the woods, her flipping him off, was echoed in the Slot Lady’s flipping off DougieCoop as he (correctly) pointed her toward a winning machine.
This in turn is why James’s entrance into the Roadhouse (and Shelly’s admiring response to it as noted in Part 4A) is so important. The return of James coincides with the return of Cooper, but that is not just coincidental.
If you think about it, in FWWM James did hold the solution, or at least an escape, from Laura’s problems. They could have just got back on his motorcycle and left Twin Peaks, as James ends up doing by himself in Season 2.
But in FWWM Laura screamed when she thought she saw something in the woods, and the fear of BOB took over as she hardened her heart against James and rejected his sincere-if-innocent offer of love.
https://preview.redd.it/6casj21zyd381.jpg?width=1158&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a2e6403981bcd44f9ad22739a8672130907ec54
That fear of BOB is one of the main points we’ve been documenting in this series, along with seeing someone where you don’t expect them. The scene of the two of them in the woods from FWWM contains both these elements.
Prior to flipping off James in the woods, when they first got off of the motorcycle in the clearing, James, trying to console her, says to Laura in empathy, “Oh, Laura.” She mockingly repeats back to him the same thing he said.
Then she slaps him.
Like James for Laura in FWWM, DougieCoop holds the key to solving Janie-E’s problems but she can’t see it, at least not yet. Mr. Jackpot’s winnings are

The following is an exegesis of Genesis chapter 4, and how it relates to the archetypal Cain within each of us, as it relates to egotism, and evil. However, although Cain, like all biblical archetypes, exist in each of us, Cain also describes people who are archetypally aggrandizing in their lifestyles, and so describes social elites.
1. And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived and bore Cain, and said: 'I have gotten a man with the LORD.'
Language is fundamental to biblical interpretation. Adam means "transcendental consciousness". What is translated here as man is the word Adam. So 'transcendental consciousness' 'knew' Eve. Eve literally means 'living one', and so refers to the body. Keeping in mind what happened in the last chapter - eating from the tree of good and evil - the body, or Eve, contains energies from both goodness and evil. The transcendental consciousness of the mind is befuddled about what is coherent from what is incoherent. It is now operating without a sense of right or wrong thinking, feeling, or acting. It doesn't know how to relate to its body. So "Adam knew Eve" means, "reflection reflected on the pre-reflective feelings in the body", and something "came out" of it. What did he get? Literally, "I have gotten a man"...the Lord. The word for "gotten" is 'caniti' - which is what the name Cain is derived from (hence, Cain means, roughly, "acquirer"). There is no word "help" here, although translators often interpolate such a word to make it grammatically sensible. But that's not the point. The new consciousness being born is "I have GOTTEN" something...."A man" i.e. I am an individual now. The transcendental consciousness and the body, now poorly discriminated, produces egotism - the individualized man. And so, why does YHWH appear right after man? Because YHWH is the logical structure of the world. YHWH makes this response what it is. It's cause and effect. It is what it is because the coherency within the world makes this consequence what it is.
2 And again she bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
The bible doesn't waste words. It is succinct and logically to the point. If the disordered consciousness produces Cain, what is its "twin"? Dissociation, or more simply, the attitude of "I don't care". We see both these attitudes present in todays society, sometimes within the exact same people. I've seen too many speeches to even name by very well known people -

Lojban is a constructed language that aims at clarity. As a language it is less syntactically ambiguous, contains no homophones and has many other features intended to reduce both semantic and grammatical ambiguity.
The big problem with trying to train an NLP on Lojban is, of course, is corpus size and scale. Although many side by side translations texts into Lojban exist, they have nothing like the scope that would be necessary to teach a neural net a language.
I think it's entirely possible that, if we did have a large enough corpus, a computer trained on Lojban might be able to achieve things a standard machine learning setup can't. Still we run into that fundamental barrier, corpus size.
I can't help but think though that there is something here- an opportunity for a skilled research team in this area, if only they could locate it. Perhaps some intermediate case, like Esperanto, might be more possible?
