A list of puns related to "Hinduism and Sikhism"
The document titled A report on the state of Hinduism in Religious Education in UK Schools, includes claims of bullying and inferiority complex issues experienced by British Hindus because of the inaccurate teaching of Hinduism in religious education.
I'm currently doing a bachelor's degree in Religious Studies (or Religious Science as we refer to it in Norway) and while doing some reading on Sikhism, I stumbled upon this example in a book (paraphrased) :
"In a janam-sakhi narrative, Guru Nanak instructs a wealthy man to give him a needle when they meet after death. The wealthy man protests, as this is an impossible thing to do. Nanak then replies him and points out that it's an even greater impossibility to carry all of his riches with him."
I instantly thought of this subreddit upon reading this. Maybe you will find it as inspiring as I did!
>The Mool Mantar is said to be the first composition uttered by Guru Nanak Dev upon enlightenment at the age of about 30. Being the basis of Sikhism it encapsulates the entire theology of Sikhism. When a person begins to learn Gurbani, this is the first verse that most would learn.
Ikoaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖao nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ.
In this, you are " Ik Onkar "
Ik- There is ONE(Ik), the origin and the source of everything. When there was nothing, there was ONE, Ik.
Onkaar- When Ik becomes the creative principal it becomes Onkaar. Onkaar manifests as visible and invisible phenomenon. The creative principle is not separated from the created, it is present throughout the creation in an unbroken form.
Satnaam- Ik Onkar is the very definition of Truth
Kartaa Purakh-Ik Onkar is Creator and Doer (Kartaa) of everything, all the seen and unseen phenomenon. It is not just a law or a system, it is a Purakh, a Person.
Nirbhau- That Ik Onkar is devoid of any fear, because there is nothing but itself.
Nirvair- That Ik Onkar is devoid of any enmity because there is nothing but itself.
Akaal Moorat- That Ik Onkar is beyond Time (Akaal) and yet it is existing. Its a Form(Moorat) which does not exist in Time.
Ajooni- That Ik Onkar does not condense and come into any birth. All the phenomenon of birth and death of forms are within it.
Saibhang- That Ik Onkar exists on its own, by its own. It is not caused by anything before it or beyond it.
Gurprasaad- That Ik Onkar is expressed to itself and it is only its own Grace that happens.
Of course, all religions and philosophy come back to this one point, but I found it quite interesting that it is literally the very first line of the Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh Holy Texts), and accepted as the basis of the entire philosophy.

I had to hide and go Sikh
On a throwaway because I don't know who knows my reddit or who knows about this or whatever.
So my grandad was recently diagnosed with cancer. I'm not particularly devout but he is an Amritdhari Sikh, in the event he has to go through chemotherapy (which is unlikely for now) one of the side effects is hair loss. Now from what I understand, hair loss is ok from natural causes, but chemo isn't exactly "natural". Is there any 'official' (talking out my ass a bit here) stance on this grey area?
I’ve been a lurker for a while, and recently started posting memes and engaging more in the community to cope with the bs that you hear against Hindus, India, and Modi.
But after seeing the article on the front page of reddit clearly stating that Hindus are murdering Muslims over these Delhi riots, I’ve reached peak frustration.
How do you guys cope?
Not to mention trying to link everything back to Hinduism even before Hinduism even entered South Asia (i.e. Indus Valley Civilisation) and the fact that the entire episode of Hindu-Buddhist war and conflict have been erased from Indian history.
Has Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka ever indulged in this sort of weird nonsense? I'm specifically not referring to battles/wars/politics - but moreso the basic facts around things.
Literally every country on the planet witnessed India blatantly falsifying history in front of our eyes back in February. Has any other south asian country ever done the same thing?
